Elsa and Anna's parents were shockingly awful...

Any others?

Speaking of Die Hard how sexy was Alan Rickman.

Let's just say that I have Die Hard permanently saved on my DVR.

"everyone can afford rent as a single person in central london or new york in a swanky apartment"

Yes, in films people always live in chic, spotless homes which would be way out of their budget in 'real life'.

No TV here, just DVD/streaming, it can be years before I see an actor recur.

So I'm beyond thrilled that Roxie (Grease) becomes First Lady (West Wing) — but a bit traumatised that Denny Duquette (Grey's Anatomy) turns out to be Negan (Walking Dead).

I was impressed when one of Barnaby's sidekicks, Midsomer Murders, transformed into Brian May, he was amazing.

That female characters can stay thin and trim whilst eating pizza and drink booze etc. Think Friends for this.

They tend to order 1 pizza between 5 (sometimes Joey has his own). It’s literally a slice each.

AmaryIlis · 12/06/2022 13:44

If you'e going somewhere a bit dangerous, never take out photos of your loved ones and show them to your companions. If you do, you're sure to be the one who doesn't survive.

SenecaFallsRedux · 12/06/2022 13:47

American sixth-formers seem to drive themselves to school in their own cars.

Often true; in most states the minimum age for a license is 16. Both of my children drove themselves to school at that age in their own cars (which they helped pay for with part-time jobs.)

AmaryIlis · 12/06/2022 13:47

I learned from Silent Witness hat pathologists routinely spend most of their time doing most of the police's work for them. And the police are apparently quite happy to pay for that.

joanieruth · 12/06/2022 13:57

Haha, my bigger issue with the karate kid is he learns it in a few months and beat a guy who had been doing it for years and had a distinguished tournament record. Unlikely, no matter how much wax he puts on and off.

He had the great Mr Miyagi as his teacher 😦

Seriously, I always thought that young Daniel would have been hard pushed to beat anyone from Cobra Kai outside of the tournament environment with his karate.

CruCru · 12/06/2022 14:00

It is extremely important to be pretty. Everything else is relatively unimportant.

American high school students magically get into really famous universities without doing any real work. It’s all because they carry textbooks whenever they are in school.

Peccary

That you can maintain an eye contact conversation with your passenger while driving for several minutes and not cause a multi car pile up

This! All the time!

I can't watch when people are pretending to drive on TV as a cautious driver it makes me so anxious.

Curlybrunette · 12/06/2022 14:09

In TV/films/and more so books for me (I read a lot of crap chick lit romances) they seem to have sex and then the female is so exhausted and delirious after the orgasm that she falls straight to sleep. Where is the night time wee and cleaning of her teeth??

It makes me cringe there's no teeth cleaning.....

godmum56 · 12/06/2022 14:19

The blues colour scheme in mama mia. Not only do I want it but if you google, thousands of others do too.

fossilsmorefossils · 12/06/2022 14:20

That if you call someone and they don't answer, they're definately dead/murdered.

No woman ever needs to shave her legs before a date.

If you're a naive virgin being seduced by a boy, then that boy will try to kill you later.

holidayelbow · 12/06/2022 14:30

When they write and send text messages. Never any typos or fat finger moments. It all comes out perfectly first time. Bullshit

cakeorwine · 12/06/2022 14:31

Most criminal plots and plots to take over the world etc are foiled because the lead villain does capture the secret agent / cop, but then tells them the plot and then gets one of their henchmen to kill them somewhere else. This goes wrong and the secret agent goes onto foil the plot

People always have computer passwords that are reasonably easy to guess. No one ever has a random string of characters/three random words and a number type of password. It's always the name of the lake where they went rafting on their first date or something like that.

People are incapable of saying, “Sorry, you’ve misunderstood. Let me explain what I really meant.”

They're also incapable of saying 'this is vital information I need to give you now' when their partner brushes them off because they're going out to buy groceries or something equally unimportant. Then of course by the time the partner gets back with the groceries, they've been kidnapped or murdered.

And you never then get 'we have sent a text message / use your authenticator' to your phone to confirm this suspicious login.

'Grandpa Joe' was a lazy, entitled prick.

Weren't all those grandparents in C&CF

cakeorwine · 12/06/2022 14:38

In Star Wars, when they escape from the Death Star - they think they are being tracked. So why not change ships instead of risking being tracked to the rebel base.

But in Rogue One, they have captured a lot of rebels and ships that have just left the rebel base. Couldn't they have just looked in the 'sat nav' on a rebel ship?

MustBeThursday · 12/06/2022 14:40

If you're in a sci fi film, Jeff Goldblum is always right. If he says it's a bad plan, it's almost certainly a bad plan.

Life finds a way!

  1. You can commit an unspeakably horrific act of splitting up identical twins at birth and not tell them and they'll forgive you just as long as you take them on their camping trip

  2. You can become so convincing as the other twin that you fool their parent yet nobody in an entire summer camp realises that you're identical twins

  3. dogs and butlers are wayyy smarter and more insightful than parents (probably actually acurate 🤣)

Instead of Sharon having to bite her nails, why didn't Susan stop biting hers? She had weeks to break the habit.

That Willy Wonka was an exploitative employer with a decidedly cavalier attitude to health and safety.

Also the much maligned Mike Teavee asked some pretty sharp questions of Willy Wonka that were never answered properly.

Have to agree

I didn't like WW and he played mind games with Charlie

If Uncle Frank in Home Alone had spoken to my son like that, I'd have been wearing his bollocks as a pair of earrings.

I've always said this too 😁

IcedPurple · 12/06/2022 14:43

When people are arguing in a restaurant, they wait until the moment their expensive dish or drink is served before flouncing out, leaving it untouched.

Nobody ever seems to pay taxi drivers. They just get out of the car without paying.

People always set the table for dinner, with matching crockery and spaghetti served from one of those fancy bowls.

woodhill · 12/06/2022 14:48

Or pay for food or drinks for that matter

Scout2016 · 12/06/2022 14:49

If you are a long serving well loved police officer -or employed in any risky job - and you're a few days off retirement, just don't turn in for that last few shifts. Not unless you want to end up dying a slow death while gasping out a few last words from your rookie colleague's arms.

If Inspector Morse fancies a woman, you know she is probably the criminal. Or at least heavily implicated and up to no good.
