Elsa and Anna's parents were shockingly awful...

Any others?

People are able to skim read a paper document in 3 seconds and immediately spot something that blows the plot wide open.

(Not a film but Suits did this at least twice an episode!)

Anybody that uses a computer automatically knows how to instantly open and log in to the correct programme and find the exact file they need, and with a few tappety taps on the keyboard, the vital information is uploaded or downloaded and disaster is averted.
There is never any waiting to connect to the server or for systems to update, or that the person doing the tappety tapping doesn't know how to use any of the programmes or that programmes won't or can't instantly communicate with each other.

And they're also always able to guess passwords with a few tries.

We watched Tall Girl on Netflix the other night for some light relief and DS summed up the real, not intended story perfectly. "It's about someone manipulating and lying to all the people around them to get their own way." It is. Add to that creepy obsessive nasty behaviour. I think we are supposed to take it as - how sweet the childhood friends fell in love after all. No, it's two quite nice people being manipulated by a nasty person. Oh and some are short and some are tall.

@puppymonkey "I always bang on about the school buses in American films and wish we had them for our schools. They seem to drop everyone off right outside their houses, even if the house is in the middle of nowhere."

Rural pupils in Scotland get exactly the same school bus service, door to door. My kids had it and so do theirs.

HunterAngel · 12/06/2022 12:10

Thomas the tank engine. If the trains are alive why do they need drivers? Also these drivers don’t seem to benefit from any labour laws as they work all though the day and the night. (Sorry, DS is obsessed and after the 1,0000 viewing I got way too invested!)

And that you can go into a bar, order a drink and then leave without drinking it or paying for it.

And you can order 'A pint of bitter' or 'A light ale' without specifying the brand.

Speaking of Die Hard how sexy was Alan Rickman.

Gosh yes, he was a very handsome man. I loved him in Robin hood
"I will cut your heart out with a spoon" and "cancel Christmas "
How he didnt laugh when he said that I do not know. Maybe there is an outtake video, might have a look.

Every single show like CSI or Hawaii 50 and the like, any crime scene they go to, they dont put on paper suits or cover their often long hair to prevent contamination of the scene. They also never ever turn on the lights or open the curtains for more light. They just flash a tiny torch around and find clues.

Threetulips · 12/06/2022 12:24

The cast never get out of bed and use the loo.

Shooting at cars - how do they always miss the tyres? Huge row of bullets along the car - tyres perfectly useable.

Not from specific films, but how every woman wakes up in the morning with a face full of fresh make up and their hair done 🙄🙄 and after pretty much any sex scene (unless the male characters are supposed to be wearing condoms) the woman never does the towel between the left waddle to the toilet!!! Or at least puts a sheet under. Oh oh oh.......and how every family wakes up to a full breakfast with pancakes, fruit, cereal etc and the kid always leaves with one slice of toast straight popped out of the toaster!!!!!

Yes, and they have special sheets where they sit around the woman’s bosom area and then from the man’s waist down, showing his bare chest.

quiteathome · 12/06/2022 12:36

There is always time for sex. Even if you are running from: terminators, zombies, baddies etc.

Kerrrmieee · 12/06/2022 12:41

I shall always remember never to stir the tanks whilst I am on a mission to the moon.

janj2301 · 12/06/2022 12:44

Cops going to interview/arrest baddie, see him several hundred yards away and call out to him, guess what he runs away a hot pursuit ensues. If they'd kept their mouth shut the show would have been about 30 mins shorter!!

janj2301 · 12/06/2022 12:46

Men/women get out if bed just pop their previous clothes on and leave nipt just sex scenes. Surely a shower and at least clean underwear is necessary

*Who said Romeo abd Juliet were a pair of eejits?

you’re spot on but they were 15. We are all eejits at 15*

Juliet was 13. Romeo's age is never specified but he's assumed older.

KatherineJaneway · 12/06/2022 12:58

How come there is a massive shootout and no one thinks to lie down and shoot at their opponents feet

PineappleSun · 12/06/2022 13:06

You'll never have to reload your gun, infinite bullets. John Wick is the exception.

Oh! Oh! Oh! I saw this once! In the Miami Vice movie.

So that is one out of 1000+ movies I have seen in my life time. I think my exception has just proved your rule. 😂🤣😂

whynotwhatknot · 12/06/2022 13:15

I always bang on about the school buses in American films and wish we had them for our schools. They seem to drop everyone off right outside their houses, even if the house is in the middle of nowhere.

And this is true to life. I grew up on a farm 20 miles from my school. The yellow school bus pick us up and dropped us off at the driveway to our house every school day. However, kids who live in a town or suburb (as I do now) go to a designated place to get the school bus, but they don't have to walk very far from their house.

MumofSpud · 12/06/2022 00:36

I didn't get why

  1. they didn't blow up the mountain missives as they passed them
  2. why they didn't all need someone behind them
  3. the point of the person behind them - they just looked out the window looking for the missiles (see point 1)

Why did they not unmanned drones for the attack?

ToppTotty · 12/06/2022 13:26

Peccary

That you can maintain an eye contact conversation with your passenger while driving for several minutes and not cause a multi car pile up

This! All the time!

That in the movies you can have a missionary position shag without getting the sex knot in the back of your hair.

Sex knot? I must remember that when I next go the the hairdressers, no matter how well I comb/brush she always has to work hard to free that bit. She'll be impressed by a sex knot, especially as I'm 74!

ToppTotty · 12/06/2022 13:30

puppymonkey "I always bang on about the school buses in American films and wish we had them for our schools. They seem to drop everyone off right outside their houses, even if the house is in the middle of nowhere."

OH is from North America and he says it's not that great. He had to catch the school bus at 7:45am (school classes started at 9:30am!). It was a very rural route and he was the first kid to be picked up.
Plus, lots of bullying goes on on school buses!

All the massive age gaps between the male and female leads

Yes, this is very annoying.
