To be concerned that the Depp/Heard trial has put off genuine DV victims from coming forward?

The Depp/Heard trial was troubling to me.

On the one hand, people do sometimes make false allegations, especially after relationship breakups.

On the other hand, dragging someone to court for alleging domestic violence might deter some women from reporting it.

Assuming the court got it right and Depp was not a perpetrator, how could he have handled the situation so that it would not put domestic violence victims off coming forward for fear of being sued?

Worrying all round.

Plus Eve Barlow was kicked out of the courtroom and this disgusting twat of a man was in the courtroom as part of her team but when this story broke, disappeared from the cameras.

my mum was beaten to a pulp for 13 years. What some “celebrity” or other was doing would have m had absolutely no bearing on her life whatsoever.

With the text messages - He handed over all of his communications and devices as per court orders. Those messages were never intended for her to read. They were between him and his friend and he explained that they used a Monty python dialogue. Go check it out instead of getting offended about it.

I'm sure many people here pretending to be offended may in the past communicated with a friend and/or bitched about a partner.

Those messages were taken by the legal team by mistake and she handed them to the Sun newspaper for the Uk trial.

From all that she caused him of doing, having those messages and a couple of photoshopped photos.... makes me really question how gullible some people are or perhaps they are in denial and cannot believe that she could be lying. Well, she was very believable when she told that the donated the money to the children's Hospital. But now they found out that she lied. She said she used pledge and donation as the same thing.

She did not hand over her messages, photos or devices as per the court order. If you check the information by the IT expert, she was supposed to hand over photos and devices and she only provided the ones shown in the trial which after being analysed by the experts were copies or photoshopped. She showed the same photo and said it was from 2 different events and dates.

It's all very shady. Some of her friends who were deposed did not go and her team had to use some old recorded depositions from 2016 and 2019.

Again, if anyone watches the videos, can see that she pretty much considered everyone to the lying except her. Also, the fake crying and she copied Rebeka Vardy's story about the threats to her children.

Hopefully his next girlfriend will go straight to the police if he is abusive to her. But I don't know if he'll have a next girlfriend; he seems less keen these days. Bafflingly. She's on about her 5th partner since Depp, and none has come forward - either to accuse her, or to support her at the trial.

She's a vile, horrible and clearly abusive woman. And he was her victim.

Ach, I don't know ... it's as though there's still, even in this day and age, the ghost of the eternally weak, delicate and fragile 'damsel in distress' figure hovering in the minds of even the most avowedly feminist of women. The upshot just must be that the man's the bully and the woman's the bullied.

Heads up: Heard was the bully in this case. It does not matter that Depp is male and it does not matter that he's the wealthier and the more powerful. Heard abused Depp, and that is that. I think it's time we all got past our tears, wiped our pretty nosies, and got the f**k past that, because it's pretty undeniably true, to everyone who actually watched the damned trial.

This is getting ridiculous and pathetic, now. There's only so far weaponised fragility can take women, just as there was only so far it could take Amber Heard. Dab your eyes, blow your noses and move the feck on.
