Long post sorry.
So I've been living here a few years now.. I chose this property due to health reasons and it being close to my childrens school.
After being here a a while I noticed fag ends all over the front garden and back garden (gate always locked) near our fence in-between mine and my neighbours property, I thought the people who lived here must have smoked so I cleaned them all up.. a month or so later loads more appeared in the same places.. and a dog poo bag right outside my door.. It was full blown lockdown.. we had no visitors since we moved in and none of our household smoke, my partner hates smoking and our kids were still I'm primary school so it wasn't them.
But my neighbours and their kids smoke and have dogs.
I vented to someone on the street about my frustrations like a fool.. and they told my neighbours.. my neighbours came banging on my door telling me they've heard I've been slagging them off and that if I have a problem I should say it to their fcking face.. they ain't fcking tramps and that if I know what is good for me I will shut my f*cking mouth...
They breed dogs and leave weeks worth of poop in their back garden then hose it away.. they don't train them, leave them inside the house whilst they work and just boot them outside when they're home.. they breed them and breed them for money then eventually sell the dog they bred from and get another.
I've had people do work on my house come up to me and tell me they can hear the neighbours hitting and yelling at the dogs.. as a dog person it breaks my heart.
My dog is a big chicken and when their dogs bark he starts barking in response and won't do his business.. I cant leave him out to play because if their dogs aren't out and the kids are and they hear him they start making barking noises at him to set him off..
I have a baby and have a set amount of time I can take him out supervised and they still do whatever they can to set him off..
They have off road bikes that they drive around the streets and parks with that are ridiculously loud and shoot down the path outside there house which is next to my front door (my fence decides their path from ours)
This wakes my baby and sometimes sets my dog off barking because it's so loud.
They know this.. and have now started just sitting on their bikes next to their front door (across from my front door) just revving the engines...
They also use our fence to pull themselves up onto their bins to jump up and down on their bins to crush down the rubbish, which smashes my fence back and forth which bangs and sets my dog off barking.. its also breaking my fence..
If the sun is shining they all sit outside drinking and smoking together swearing and shouting, even the kids in secondary school are sat drinking cans of beer and smoking with them. Their youngest sits drinking vkd with them.
They talk about all the drugs they take and crimes they commit with eachother.. its shocking if I'm honest.
Theyre so loud that when it's hot I have to shut the windows in my childrens bedroom or they can't sleep..
You'd think I would get a break when they're at work and school but one of their lads from secondary school skips school most days with his friends and sit out revving their bikes and barking at my dog to set him off and waking my baby.
I put cctv all over my property to hopefully discourage them but it hasn't.
I've told my partner I want to rehome our dog.. I'm devastated to say it but I cant cope..him and the children aren't happy with me.. but I don't know what else to do, we can't move as we have to be close to school due to my health.
I'm not sure who I could report my neighbours to, i think things would escalate if i did.
The lad who skips school and revs the bike outside my door has been in trouble with the police for armed robbery and criminal damage but they can't do anything because he's too young.
I honestly don't know what to do anymore.. even if I rehome my dog the revving of the bikes alone wakes up my baby..
Has anyone else been through anything similar who can give advice?
I'm getting close to having a break down here..
I feel like they can just break the law, treat my property however they wish and treat us like crap and we have no rights whatsoever 😩

Sounds horrendous op. If they are breeding more than 3 litters a year and not keeping the puppies they have to have a license puppycontract.org.uk/puppy-buyer/puppy-breeding-laws

Yes but you've dumped a poor unsuspecting person in a shit situation through no fault of their own. They've lost money because of buying your house with neighbours from hell.

I get totally what you're saying, but what should people in this situation do? It wasn't our fault, we put up with years of hassle, why should we also have suffered financially due to the actions of the neighbours? We were poor unsuspecting people too!

longtompot · 09/06/2022 23:47

My parents lived in a council house, this was back in the 80s, and had neighbours who made their life hell. They found a house swap with people who also didn't get on with their neighbours. Both families then, when they moved, got on with their problem neighbours. I am not saying you are the problem here, op, but maybe these neighbours might get on with someone else living next door?

YANBU about their behaviour being unacceptable but I’m confused… Why did you not just knock on your neighbours door & ask them to stop littering on your property?
If I knew who was depositing things on my property I would speak to them 1st no matter who they were. I’d even be inclined to break the ice & broach the subject by bringing them an outdoor ashtray to give them somewhere else to put their butts. The poop bag would just get given back & any more would be thrown back over too. Dog faeces is a biological hazard & not disposing of it correctly is actually an environmental health violation.

You need to either sell up & move or put up I’m afraid. Police, courts etc will not help you in any way because cretins like these people are allowed to behave as they do because these services are powerless to deal with them appropriately.

Blondebitch · 10/06/2022 07:26

Hi can you maybe keep your eyes open for any properties that come onto the market near your area? I know you shouldn't be pushed out of gour home by these awful people, but if it is going to make your health worse it will affect your whole family. Hopefully these people will get caught for all tbeir criminal activity. I really do wish you luck,

HappySM1 · 10/06/2022 07:39

Did the people you bought the house from declare any neighbour issues on the paperwork when they sold?

Thinking2022 · 10/06/2022 08:03

I pressed the wrong button I meant to choose you are not being unreasonable. This sounds awful.

DillonPanthersTexas · 10/06/2022 08:07

Why did you not just knock on your neighbours door & ask them to stop littering on your property?

Because reasonable normal people don't need to have it pointed out that leaving dog shit and fag butts in their neighbours property is 'wrong'. You just know the type of person you are dealing with and the response you will get. Sadly I lived near to (thank Christ not nextdoor to) a family like this year's ago and it is amazing how one household can cause so much misery and distress to an entire street. Loud music all day and night, modified cars gunning their engines, constant stench of weed, front garden full of crap, feral kids nicking anything not bolted down, poorly trained dogs barking day and night and threats or actual violence if you dared to question their behaviour. It is mentally exhausting and very distressing, local authorities and police and glacial with their responses and said arsehole neighbours see it almost as a game and will go out of their way to heap more misery on anyone who complains. They are not reasonable people.

Dibbydoos · 10/06/2022 08:09

If ever a family was inneed of an ASBO its your neighbours. They sound just awful.

I would up sticks.

I had awful neighbours once, thry played loud - deafeningly loud - music from 6am. I went and knocked and the noise lrvel was so bad it made me physically sway. They had 2 little girls. I reported them, but nothing.

Thankfully I got a Job elsewhere and sold up. I vowed never to buy a semi again and haven't. Mind you, bad neighbours can be a prob even in detached houses....

I would recommend reporting and moving - the difficulty will be when you're selling....

pollymere · 10/06/2022 08:36

The RSPCA will care if they're breeding dogs and hosing the poop. The dogs also don't sound trained. The Council may be able to help with the dogs. Don't let them threaten you. Contact Crimestoppers and 999 if you need to.

Taurini · 10/06/2022 10:01

Thank you everyone, I've been here just over 2 years and in that time they've had in total 6 dogs all female, and several litters, but with that many dogs to breed from its probably legal to breed them all 3 times and make a lot of money.
They sold them all and said on the online adverts (I often look on gumtree I'm my area and noticed them) that they were selling them as they have no time for them.
Then they went and brought a new female pup.
They used to breed French bull dogs and it looks like they weren't selling as fast or as well and now it looks like they have an American bull dog, they seem to get whatever is selling the most, breed it and keep a female pup from the litter and breed that one when it's old enough and after a couple of litters sell them and will always keep a female pup to breed from.
Theyre locked in all day unless their son skips school, then they just kick them outside when they're in.
I must admit that since they sold them all and have just the 2 they do seem to actually be taking the new dog for daily walks which they never did with the others.
Still they let dog poo build up on their garden for days and eventually wash it away.
They sit there in the garden smoking and drinking whilst surrounded by poo.
Honestly though I don't think the rspca would care seeing as though they water and feed them and keep them healthy to breed from.
They'v gone away today for a few days it would seem, I'm shocked they took the kids with them this time!
Theyre never at school it seems.
They've left the two dogs behind though so they'll probably spend the weekend locked in the house, hopefully a family member will at least pop over to let them out for the toilet and feed them.

We rent nice houses and have done for a long time and we pay a bloody fortune to live in very nice areas - and are lucky to be able to do so. one of the reasons is basically having experienced similar toOP in an ok area with a more mixed community in terms of behaviour/income level . The worst it's got being in the very nice areas is the occasional old bag having a go if you've not mowed the lawn for2 weeks . I feel for you OP- there really isn't any other option but moving - if you report, would it be obvious it was you? Are this family already subject to an ASBO?

missdemeanors · 10/06/2022 10:54

Having had our share of inconsiderate neighbours over the years (though nothing on the scale of yours OP) Dh and I moved as soon as our youngest left home. We deliberately sought out a detached property which was set in a good size plot so that we're not even right up against anyone else's garden. We moved more rurally to do this. I appreciate it's a lot harder when you've got younger kids and schools to consider but I can't tell you the difference it's made to our life. It's the fact that even if someone currently has good neighbours, they could move any time and if you're in a terrace, semi or even a detached which is right bang up against the neighbouring house, you're basically at the mercy of whoever moves in. It's so utterly liberating now to know that if a For Sale sign goes up anywhere along our lane, we're not waiting on tenterhooks to see who moves in. Sadly the reality is that living in close proximity means neighbours can seriously affect your quality of life.

I get that what we did probably isn't realistic right now OP, but I would definitely move, even if it means a change of schools. I can't fathom why being across the road from the school matters so much when it seems your daily life is hellish.

MrsLighthouse · 10/06/2022 12:07

Move, Life is short and any “official” steps you take will be long, drawn out and just add to the misery. Honestly the nearness to the school won’t be any comfort if you have a breakdown.

Buttonjugs · 10/06/2022 12:10

GodspeedJune · 08/06/2022 09:27

The best you can do is move. You’ll never change them. Are they owners or do they rent?

In the meantime get some CCTV installed.

She said she has CCTV.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 10/06/2022 14:12

The usual advice of diarise & report, report, report isn’t going to work here.

Move!

Can you rent somewhere and rent out your house from hell?

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 10/06/2022 14:13

Did the erson you bought from fail to disclose any neighbourhood disputes?

Yes it's such a shame that the councils and police don't take action.

Why are they allowed to behave like this for so long and have no consequences

Joystir59 · 10/06/2022 14:17

Move asap.

Kris02 · 10/06/2022 14:24

God, I’m so sorry OP. I wish I hadn’t read your post tbh. It really depressed me. I hate noise and DREAD ending up next door to people like that. It’s my worst nightmare. I have known two people driven to nervous breakdowns by the feral scum next door.

There is just nothing you can do with them. The politicians have got no answers either. The right argue that we should slash their benefits and force them to take responsibility. But that doesn’t work. They simply turn to crime. The left, on the other hand, see them as victims and try to help by paying generous benefits and moving them onto new build estates so they don’t feel “excluded” or “rejected”. But that doesn’t work either. You could put them in Buckingham Palace and they’d turn it into a filthy dump.

If it was up to me, I would pay ‘problem families’ not to have children. I would literally bribe them with taxpayer’s money. I would also build special estates for them to live on. But since that’s not going to happen, all you can do is move. Of course, that’s hardly fair on the people who replace you...and so it goes on.

MummyJasmin · 10/06/2022 16:45

So unfortunate that the laws in this country seem to favour even rewards, this type of illegal and feral behaviour. Its a shame that the only option seems to be that you have to be the one to move put :(

While we are on this topic....how are you meant to ascertain what your neighbours are going to be like/before moving? Thanks

So sorry OP and all the best 😘

SafferUpNorth · 10/06/2022 17:24

...they've had in total 6 dogs all female, and several litters, but with that many dogs to breed from its probably legal to breed them all 3 times and make a lot of money....

OP, the 3-litter threshold requiring registration as a breeder as per household, not per female dog. www.gov.uk/guidance/dog-breeding-licence-england With so many bitches it's likely they're definitely breeding 3+ a year, so please report them to the Council and RSPCA, if only for the dogs' sake!

What you describe sounds like a full-on puppy mill so please report!

Try this get a white piece of paper. Write these words. I wish to remove mention their name from my life forever. ) say this 3 times then place under running tap water for a second or two then fold the paper 4 times. Now place in your freezer with something heavy like a bag of peas for instance. Then leave in the freezer and do not take out and you can repeat a few times if you wish but it’s pretty effective. It will remove you from them or them from you. Harm to non. Let us know how you get on
