Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

Sean Lock?

Sean Lock didn’t have a West Country accent, he was from the Home Counties.

StupidUsernameUnavailable · 09/06/2022 08:56

@SunnyShiner

I thought the original quote of being loud so people would notice her was about Martine McCutcheon.......😬😬

I've just been horrified for the past 20 minutes thinking Martine had wanked off a tramp 🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

For some reason it seems more accepting for Miriam to have done it!

cubangal · 09/06/2022 09:05

Can confirm, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are both lovely.

Julian McDonald?

Jeff Banks?

bettbburg · 09/06/2022 09:08

Stephen fry is very compassionate.

My DB had a summer job as a stagehand at a West End theatre back in the 70s. Bill Nighy was in whatever play was on at the time. He used to have a beer with DB sometimes in the bar and was really chatty and sweet. DB was so glad when he later got his big break and got properly famous. He said he was just seemed a really nice guy.

Rosscameasdoody · 09/06/2022 09:14

Sorry, no worst stories, but my mum did her apprenticeship with one of Paul McCartney’s relatives in the 60s. I met Paul a couple of times when the Beatles were at the height of their popularity, and remember him as a lovely, chatty and friendly bloke. I had quite a serious surgery in my teens and he and his family sent flowers and cards. I was touched that he’d remembered. In that same hospital stay, the staff had arranged for Tom O’Connor to entertain the kids - think it was someone’s birthday. He was lovely - went round all the children individually and gave lots of his time.

UrbanCoyote · 09/06/2022 09:19

@StupidUsernameUnavailable can't stop laughing at Martine and the tramp, what a horrendous visual. What an incredibly seedy story to tell though. Can you imagine a man telling that story about a woman. He would be be cancelled straight away.

Unfortunately as the DDP the buck stops with him, as he has gleefully pointed out to BoJo on many occasions .Sauce for the goose!!

Don't be ridiculous. Not if he didn't know about it. Bojo gets stick because he lies repeatedly and sanctions a lot of unacceptable stuff. Plus he's incompetent. No one can check every single piece of work completed by those working for them.

Georgeskitchen · 09/06/2022 09:25

Reading through this entire thread, it's fascinating. One thing that strikes me as odd is the amount of posts about fan conventions why do celebrities appear at these events and then behave unpleasantly toward the fans? Should they not be a bit nicer to the people who have made them famous?
Seems very bizarre!!

DameHelena · 09/06/2022 09:25

This whole story is just amazing. Like a weird dream Grin

Glad to hear that re Tom O’Connor. Always liked him, he had such lovely twinkly eyes. I believe he was a maths teacher before becoming a comedian.

@Mammyloveswine I met mcfly. None of them were very nice, they didn’t want to be there, they didn’t appreciate any of the things we did to accommodate them, they weren’t even that nice to their fans and they were very unpleasant to speak to!

That rather makes a mockery of their self effacing 'Room on the third floor' !!!

BorderlineHappy · 09/06/2022 09:28

I watched that Graham Norton show with Miriam.
You know she used to do all the moaning for porn films.

I do agree though I find her very off putting, she has zero self awareness.

Yes it’s weird. Went to Destination Star Trek last year and they were all lovely. I met George Takei, Marina Sirtis, Garrett Wang and John Billingsley. Garrett Wang was just 🥰 giving everyone fist bumps.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 09/06/2022 09:33

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll - to be fair to Mark, this was at the height of his fame (Mark Owen) so I'm sure he was used to being surrounded by groupies/adoring fans. The woman he got off with was more concerned about having pulled a pop star too.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 09/06/2022 09:38

Like some others, I've worked in London for years on and off and socialised there too.

Used to go to a bar called The Social - in a street off the back of Top Shop, Oxford Circus. One night we saw a woman in a wedding dress floating round the basement - it was Bjork! totally bizarre.

We used to see celebs all the time, Zoe Ball was in Kensington High Street McDonalds, Lily Allen on Marylebone High Street and so on but when you see them so much you just ignore them or get used to it. Philip Glenister I've seen in a card shop in East Dulwich, near where I live. There are also the celebs who I see on the street with friends and a friend has to say, oh look how just went by. Rufus Sewell I'm sure was one, I think I thought he was good looking, he came out of a tube station and my friend said, guess who that was, and me, no who?! Rufus Sewell!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 09/06/2022 09:44

Saw one of the Chuckle brothers at Manchester airport over a decade ago, seemed lovely

I once bumped into them at an agricultural auction, when they'd both gone to meet a ewe <may not have actually happened>

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 09/06/2022 09:46

He had some pineapple print boxer shorts in there. It didn’t feel like the right time.

This cracked me up 😂

Me too - I heard it in the voice of Pam from Gavin & Stacey!!

SurfBox · 09/06/2022 09:53

Ruth Langsford lovely woman really friendly at an Alzheimers Fundraisng walk completely genuine and natural. Funnily enough Honey from Eastenders was also at that event, clearly desperately trying to suck up to Ruth and be seen hanging out with her

never heard of ruth langsford but in fairness to honey I'd say she'd be far more recognised and famous than ruth simply because even if you don't watch Eastenders you'll still know a lot of the characters.

SurfBox · 09/06/2022 09:57

I might have missed one but anyone met Louis Theroux? Want him to be one of the nice guys

I did, he was at a book signing in 2006 in Dublin. I walked past and said ''hi Louis'' and he said ''hello how are you?''

It was quite empty in that there was no interest in him but in fairness this was before he became very famous through his journalism and documentaries so he didn't have the same exposure or fanbase back then.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 09/06/2022 09:58

Miriam does seem extremely keen to talk about sex.

There was a short series on some time ago (I think it was called 'Let's Talk About Sex') where they were discussing sex education through the ages, and they had various celebs like Danny Dyer and Ulrika on with their children. MM was also on it, commenting on her own.

Even on a programme where they obviously covered some frank subjects and material, she was so unnecessarily graphic. It was meant to be an educational/nostalgic/slightly cheeky theme - not really for titillation. I don't know whether she thinks it's endearing, but it's just really jarring and extremely unsubtle. There's a big difference between 'not mincing your words' and just having no internal filter whatsoever.

This is good to hear. I've always imagined that Bill Nighy was one of the good guys 😀

Daijoubudesu · 09/06/2022 10:03

Konnie Huq - lovely and funny. Very down to earth. Petite and child like.
Charlie Brooker - awkward.

Shappi Khorsandi - looked down her nose at people and sniggered
Ruby Wax - loud, arrogant, demanding
Chris Martin - very nice man. Went over and above what was expected.

Actually, the process at the time meant that it wasn't referred to him at the time, but following the investigation, Starmer changed the process so that cases like this would be referred right up to the DPP in future. Nazir Afzal, former chief prosecutor confirmed this.
