To buy a sportscar?

SomersetDreams · 04/06/2022 06:22

In these tough times, is it ok to buy a sportscar. I was never a fan of cars/ particularly materialistic but one has caught my eye and it would be for a special occasion/ in honor of a family member (- trying to find reasons to justify purchase :) )

Its also an investment ...

Would you spend on this? (it was love at first sight!!)

My dh is like you, he bought his dream car and his life is complete. Have fun!

Onceagainwithfeeling - who said anything about eco cars?

billysboy · 05/06/2022 15:46

Time and a place for eco cars , this is not it !

Orpheline · 05/06/2022 19:20

The other thing is that there will be no affordable cars that will warrant being classics in the future. Generic boxes.

SomersetDreams · 05/06/2022 22:05

oh...I am sure he loves you more than the car!

Love this and so glad you for the car, I'm with the other poster guessing at the f-type!

I drive a lotus and Porsche and had some modified cars as well.

I've always had a sports car even with kids, I'm saving for a few more, I have a list I'd like to own before electric is a thing!

For those interested...I got her! :) She is a beauty! Best decision I ever made.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement!

I'm interested! Pic please?

Sunbird24 · 03/07/2022 19:12

Yes @SomersetDreams, good for you! I’m likely about to give mine up after 3 years but I’ll never regret it for a second (and will probably have another one at some point in the future…)

LadyCampanulaTottington · 03/07/2022 19:17

When DD went off to Uni we bought a Maserati GT. I fucking love whizzing around in it.

We also have an electric car to balance the environmental impact.

Do it, you won’t regret it.

If you fly it, sail it, drive it or fuck it, it’s cheaper to rent

Good for you. Came in to say if it what you want and can afford it, you only live once but you've already done it.

We're not into cars, my oh rides motorcycles and I love being on the back.

Enjoy your new car

Roselilly36 · 03/07/2022 19:32

Why not OP, if you can afford it do it, life is too short for regrets. Just be realistic, a) it probably won’t be an investment b) it will be expensive too run. But if you enjoy it for a while it’s worth it.

Roselilly36 · 03/07/2022 19:34

X post, Just seen your update, congrats 🏎

DinosaurDuvet · 03/07/2022 19:36

O MG! never experienced anything like it on earth! Amazing! Spent all day driving around and being speechless by all the features. Who knew cars were so interesting. its like driving a mobile lazee boy :)
36 mpg....cant fault it. WIll enjoy it while the going is good.
Makes all those bad jobs I did worth it.
Thanks again ladies and enjoy your cars.

I met a lady owner and she said her husband loves the car more than her....it is all consuming but probably after the high you come back down to earth. :)

Its very self indulgent and after I have got used to it I am hoping to organize some kind of way to share and give people rides (not car share :))and put a smile on their face, maybe with a local charity.
