It's too young.

makingnosense · 13/01/2008 19:01

I agree... too young.

sandyballs · 13/01/2008 19:01

Jeeeeez, far far too young. Sends shivers down my spine. Why is an 8 year old fussing about her hair to that extent? Or more likely, why is her mother.

ByTheSea · 13/01/2008 19:02

Way too young.

flowerybeanbag · 13/01/2008 19:03

Seriously? Maybe I am an old fuddy duddy myself but I'd say 16 at least.

pinkteddy · 13/01/2008 19:04

God yes ! I think 12 is too young. They are children for such a short time.

hunkermunker · 13/01/2008 19:05

What does her mother look like?

filthymindedvixen · 13/01/2008 19:06

lol hunker

pukkapatch · 13/01/2008 19:08

waxing lady told me she once had a nine year old brought in by her mtoher.

CrushWithEyeliner · 13/01/2008 19:08

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/01/2008 19:08

8 yearls old - hell, yes, far too young.

Gran used to cover my (mousy) hair with Lite n Brite and Sun-In in order to highlight, remember having to sit very still when I was about 5.

Madness. They have enough time when they are adults ti ponce about with hair xcolours.

VictorianSqualor · 13/01/2008 19:10

DD had some red supposedly wash out streaks put in her hair for some dress up thing or other for the end of term last year, she is seven. Bloody thing has only just come out though

I do think bleach is different though, it looks cheap on enough adults let alone young children.

pointydog · 13/01/2008 19:13

I think it's too young, yes. But a number of 10 year old girls have their hair highlighted round here ans LOADS of boys from age 6 plus have that huge bleached streak look.

Boys are highlighting/bleaching much more and much younger than girls

Spidermama · 13/01/2008 19:14

Yes, I've seen more boys than girls with coloured hair.

galaxymummy · 13/01/2008 19:15

dh put red dye on dd aged 11 looked great but PERMANENT took 6m to grow out school were not impressed ,now dd who has dishwater brown hair cant wait for hi lites I have told her to find job and pay for it herself now 13yrs old

BethMK · 13/01/2008 19:15

Yes it's far too young. I was 25 when I first had my hair highlihgted!

Iota · 13/01/2008 19:16

I bet she was a really cute little blonde girl who has started to darken.
Loads of children start out blond, but don't stay blond.

Hecate · 13/01/2008 19:17

My 9 yr old niece has decided she's a goth and had her hair died jet black!

It looks bloody awful, but of course, you can't say so, can you?!

makingnosense · 13/01/2008 19:18

I remember when i was 16 I went out and got my hair highlighted. Came home and showed my Mum thinking she would love it, and she took one look and cried! She couldn't understand why I'd done that to my 'lovely hair'!

Blandmum · 13/01/2008 19:18

What is it with this new 'look' for boys? the negative skunk look, a big blonde stripe down the middle?

I can't stand it myself

galaxymummy · 13/01/2008 19:24

Iota
yes she was very blond and a bit bald aged 2-3 catches sun quite well on holiday though. We are going to spain this year have been saving my airmiles for ages. She will be practising spanish ( Please may my mother have a glass of wine?, which way to the alhambra? No I am only 13 and not allowed to date boys.)

Iota · 13/01/2008 19:30

ah galaxymum - I meant the girl in the op with the highlights

MrsBigD · 13/01/2008 19:33

way too young. One girl in dd's class (Year 1) came in with 1 highlight because mummy had just had her hair done and so she got one strand done as well. I was speechless especially as the girl has black hair with a white blond strand... fair enough I temp dyed dd's hair pink for a party but that eventually washed out LOL

As for somebody mentioning waxing for kids... my friend's dd (12yo) has had her legs waxed but saying that they're in Israel and it seems to be the norm there, and also her dd is VERY hairy and was extremely concious of it and had shredded herself using a razor...
