in expecting a hotel to send DS's teddy bear back to us?

We left it while on an overnight break last week. DS is broken hearted. DH packed (of course) and left teddy bear on the bed. We have phoned three times and it has still not been sent back to us. We are now having to take a 4 hour round trip tommorrow to get it back as DS cant do without it. Feel really pi*sed off TBH. Spent quite a bit of money in the hotel - had to have two rooms apparently because DH and I and 2 DC (under 5) could not all sleep in the same room - never heard of this before - of course both DC were in with me and poor DH was relegated to a room down the corridoor like a bad smell.

Am actually really upset as DS has had this bear since he was a baby and we are all really attached.

Outrageous.

Name and shame!!!

for you.

perpetualworrier · 13/01/2008 16:55

If it's part of a chain, phone the head office before you leave. Hopefully you will get a better response.

I know the large co I work for would pull out all the stops to make sure there was no bad publicity regarding an upset child, but the local management would just be thinking about who would pay for it/ the time involved.

bubblerock · 13/01/2008 16:57

Can you do an SOS and see if any MNetters live near the hotel and can get it back to post instead of travelling 4 Hours?? Crap service from the Hotel BTW!!

hunkermunker · 13/01/2008 16:58

Are you sure they have it?

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 13/01/2008 16:58

great idea bubblerock

Shitemum · 13/01/2008 16:58

Tell them you are about to name and shame them on the biggest parenting website in the UK!

FlllightAttendant · 13/01/2008 17:00

Where is it? Can one of us get it for you??

hertsnessex · 13/01/2008 17:02

come on, whats the hotel?

stleger · 13/01/2008 17:03

Irish Ferries used to have an adoption scheme for teddies who had been left behind.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 13/01/2008 17:04

Ahh StLeger that is so sweet.

Viggoswife · 13/01/2008 17:07

I am worried if I name and shame before we pick him up and one of them reads this then they might hurt Peter Bear or just chuck him out or something if they havent already. The hotel is in Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds. If someone is near there I can t tell you how grateful we would be. He is definitely there, they described him to us when we rang up.

dont worry someone is bound to live near there. What do they say when you phone

FlllightAttendant · 13/01/2008 17:15

Have started a thread asking for help x

Shitemum · 13/01/2008 17:17

Call again and ask to speak to the manager. The two rooms thing sounds odd too.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 13/01/2008 17:21

Just had an idea.

Ring up and book something really expensive - honeymoon suite/converence room, and then when everything has gone through say by the way, can you send our teddy back please.

Tmw cancel the booking.

The risk of posting it htough means you might loose it.

hertsnessex · 13/01/2008 17:22

2 rooms is odd, did they make you pay for two?

BBBee · 13/01/2008 17:32

i might be able to but won;t be until next weekend - any good?

stoppinattwo · 13/01/2008 18:26

oh there is someone in chat who only lives 5 mins away and is willing to go and get it!!

Viggoswife · 13/01/2008 18:34

Yes they made us pay for two rooms. They said there were two many of us to be in one room - 2 adults, 2 children. Irritated me at the time but their website made them seem like a really family orientated hotel otherwise and the location, right next to a river was lovely. Really do wish we hadnt bothered now. Thank you so much to everyone on here who has responded and offered help. Feel quite overwhelmed actually by peoples kindness on here.

mehdismummy · 13/01/2008 18:38

when he home safetly let us all know the address so we can write and complain to their head office. Are they part of a chain?

PortAndLemonaid · 13/01/2008 18:39

Darn, my MIL was going to be passing BotW today, but will be home by now. Hope the person in chat can get it.

That's very mean of them. You'd think they'd be delighted to re-unite a teddy and child wouldn't you? I can't believe anyone would be hard hearted enough not to want to sort this out asap for your ds.

mehdismummy · 13/01/2008 18:46

well done stop and please dont think i am rude but what beautiful children you have. Your little girl is gonna break many hearts! I bet your boy has got everyone wrapped round his finger. Gorgeous kids
