Exactly as it says in the title! My feet are extremely cracked on the soles and it's agony (yes I've tried EVERYTHING)..... I've seen superglue as a remedy on the Internet and wondered if anyone had actually tried it??..........

No, you need to file them and get a good foot cream with urea.
I think that wearing flip flop/ sandal type shoes doesn’t help.

orwellwasright · 01/06/2022 08:15

What did the podiatrist recommend when you saw them?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/06/2022 08:15

A foot cream with urea is what you need.

dudsville · 01/06/2022 08:15

What about a podiatrist for diagnosis and treatment?

Silverswirl · 01/06/2022 08:16

No. Use flexitol cream. Morning and night religiously

VanillaSpiceCandle · 01/06/2022 08:17

I think that’s a really bad idea. You should soak them, use a pumice or foot file and then foot cream with urea. Do this at least once a day and this will make a big improvement. You need to do this forever really or you’ll end up in the same situation.

Dunnoburt · 01/06/2022 08:18

Thanks! I've been filing everyday and literally slathering my feet in vaseline and covering with socks overnight (which is helping a bit), didnt know about the urea - very useful, thanks so much! (obviously thought superglue was a bit crazy that's why i posted first! Lol)

I wouldn't

DisforDarkChocolate · 01/06/2022 08:19

To add to the above I got some heel covers from Avon you wear at night after using foot cream that definitely helped me.

Porcupineintherough · 01/06/2022 08:20

I mean this kindly but what have you actually tried other than vasaline? Because there are far better creams out there.

orwellwasright · 01/06/2022 08:21

So you haven't seen a podiatrist? But you say you've tried everything?

nearlyspringyay · 01/06/2022 08:21

Vaseline won't help. Footner?

PurassicJark · 01/06/2022 08:21

Yes. Please do it. Then video it and show us the results.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/06/2022 08:22

Vaseline will just lock in moisture iirc,it won't actually moisturise . You could put it on top of urea cream for example.

Gingermoth · 01/06/2022 08:22

See a chiropodist or a podiatrist.

Vaseline works as a barrier but it won't actually repair the skin

Dunnoburt · 01/06/2022 08:25

Thanks everyone some really great tips! I will try them all..... As for podiatrist.... Sounds stupid but I'm so ashamed and embarrassed by my feet - they are seriously grim! (OH calls them Shrek feet lol) so was hoping to be able to do what I could "at home" (i know that's stupid)

DysmalRadius · 01/06/2022 08:25

You can get medical superglue called Dermabond, I think, although there are other brand names for it. That would probably do the trick.

KindergartenKop · 01/06/2022 08:26

I've not tried it but here's what helps mine:
Get a corn knife off eBay. Soak feets and then scrape away horrid skin with knife. Then moisturise like hell twice a day. Wear socks over night and even invest in nipple cream for the cracks. Moisturiser won't work on crusty dead skin and the cracks won't heal if you can't get moisturiser right on them.

purplesequins · 01/06/2022 08:26

see a podiatrist.

orwellwasright · 01/06/2022 08:27

Aww, don't worry. They'll have seen worse. It's literally their job so they must be ok with less than perfect tootsies.

Gingermoth · 01/06/2022 08:27

Please don't be embarrassed, the podiatrist will have seen far far worse than your trotters. The relief after one visit will be incredible

KarrotKake · 01/06/2022 08:27

Get yourself a heal cream. Flexitol is one brand, but others exist. It will do much more than Vaseline.

Stroopwaffels · 01/06/2022 08:27

Agree with what others say about urea, doesn;t have to be an expensive brand of cream, there are lots of cheapies in Home Bargains and similar with that as an ingredient. Cetraben cream is good too.

You need something non-greasy - I have fallen down the stairs once because I used a non-specific foot cream which made my skin all shiny and slippery.

Dunnoburt · 01/06/2022 08:28

It was a corn knife i fear that started the ones on the soles of my feet..... I binned it!
