Exactly as it says in the title! My feet are extremely cracked on the soles and it's agony (yes I've tried EVERYTHING)..... I've seen superglue as a remedy on the Internet and wondered if anyone had actually tried it??..........

Top tip is to put socks on after you put the foot cream on and sleep in them. Massive difference. Second O'Keefe's

fizzyfood · 01/06/2022 12:22

Flexitol brilliant for very cracked feet.

StrawberrySquash · 01/06/2022 12:25

Don't worry about the podiatrist judging. It's literally their job to see the bad feet. So the average of what they see will be far worse than the average of the actual population.

I have flaking, cracked skin caused by the chemo I'm having at the moment. My cancer nurse recommended udder cream. You can actually use the agricultural version, but there are also some versions labelled for use by humans on Amazon.

It's been a while since I've read the Safety Data Sheet for any type of (super) glue but I would say: no, don't do it. Try Urea or Cica.
Glues are usually classified as "skin irritants" and as sth that "causes skin irritation". If your soles are "cracked" there's also a risk for infection, so again, no, don't do it!

Getoff · 01/06/2022 14:21

Flexitol is really good for this. I bought a 485g pot of Amazon for about £21. Just apply it once a day and you will see a difference within days, the hard skin vanishing.

I have an electric file, I don't use it for this any more, the cream is a better solution.

Forgot to add: try the Nivea in the blue tin.

Vaseline won't work. This is excellent and contains urea:

My friend is a podiatrist and she recommends CCS cream.

TheCatterall · 01/06/2022 14:38

So you’ve tried everything bar going to a GP and getting qualified medical help?

My GP gave me a urea based cream. Feet were better within 2/3 days. the cracks stung a bit as they had been bleeding but honestly - by day 3 the difference was amazing.

Soak for ages in hot bath then shave them with a razor , only think which works for me

Update! Thank you so much for all the comments pushing me! I did it! I went to a foot clinic at 5pm this evening and am now aware i have a fungal infection (i cannot pronounce it, let alone spell it!)..... And wonder what the hell i was worried about all this time (the embarrassment!!)..... Lovely lady, got the dremmel (!) out and the scalpal and gave them a good seeing to! I now have a plan (and cream etc.) and going again in 2 weeks! They already look and feel so much better lol......... It made me laugh that she clipped my nails first and spent the whole time with my big toe nail clipping lodged in her hair! I didnt have the heart to tell her!! 🙄🤣 Anyway.... Thank you! Xxx

A thread where something actually happens as a result and the OP gets a good outcome! I never thought I’d see the day. I’m very happy for you and your feet OP.

Dunnoburt · 01/06/2022 20:10

This cream really helped with my cracked feet. It has urea in it.

To use superglue on cracked feet.....
Quincythequince · 01/06/2022 20:14

What? No!
You need a Doctor and fast.

You a thick emollient layer style cream, with some antibiotics in it, and to just coat your feet, slather, and wear socks all the time until it made a difference.

Good god to superglue 😱

Smileandactlikeitsfine · 01/06/2022 20:15

I've always used Vicks vaporrub on my feet and they are smooth as anything 😊

Dunnoburt · 01/06/2022 20:22

@RadFad i have a 1kg tub arriving tomorrow! 🤣😎

Thanks everyone some really great tips! I will try them all..... As for podiatrist.... Sounds stupid but I'm so ashamed and embarrassed by my feet - they are seriously grim! (OH calls them Shrek feet lol) so was hoping to be able to do what I could "at home" (i know that's stupid)

It doesn't sound stupid at all, I totally get it and you're not alone, , feet, smears, ears, bits and bobs, people don't always like being looked at, and many people try at home remedies for lots of reasons, cost, anxiety, access and phobias are common too. PPs being rude about you visiting podiatrist by passive aggressively presuming have attended followed by mandatory outrage that you haven't are not considering you may have many reasons not to and are asking for advice. I have bought a giant super file from amazon and it's very helpful, with the right cream and a file you'll be much improved!
