To use superglue on cracked feet.....

Exactly as it says in the title! My feet are extremely cracked on the soles and it's agony (yes I've tried EVERYTHING)..... I've seen superglue as a remedy on the Internet and wondered if anyone had actually tried it??..........

I use urea cream now and it’s cured my dry feet, but in the past when I had a painful fissure, I used Elastoplast strapping tape to strap across the split and bring it together and stop it getting worse as I walked, and that really helped it while it healed. But you need a podiatrist to cut away all the dead stuff first, really.

A podiatrist will have seen it all! They will sort you out in one or two sessions (depending how deep the cracks are). Then you just need a foot file and flexitol for maintenance.

Vaseline is pointless for this.

Stillfunny · 01/06/2022 08:32

Please don't be embarrassed to go to a podiatrist. That is what they are for and have seen really damaged feet too. They will have tools that will file off all the hard skin immediately and you will have relief straight away. Then it will be up to you to maintain moisturising and they can advise on the best way to go about it.
I love going to my podiatrist. Come out feeling like I am walking on air.

Stevienickssnickers · 01/06/2022 08:32

I've been using the Boots own cracked heel balm for a few days and it's definitely made an improvement. Bit cheaper than the branded ones.

knitnerd90 · 01/06/2022 08:33

Yes to the urea. Get the Eucerin foot repair cream (there are higher percentage creams, but this one has always worked for me). Use the foot file after every shower/bath to get the dead skin off, then do the cream. Wear socks at home if you don't.

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 01/06/2022 08:33

Vaseline?! That’s not going to help. Flexitol morning and night for a month. See a podiatrist.

Thanks! I've been filing everyday and literally slathering my feet in vaseline and covering with socks overnight (which is helping a bit), didnt know about the urea - very useful, thanks so much! (obviously thought superglue was a bit crazy that's why i posted first! Lol)

Vaseline won't work. This is excellent and contains urea:

Buy a foot file and some okeefes foot cream in the blue tub. Even the cream on its own would be enough.

I prefer that to flexitol (that didn’t nothing for me)

Shlomping1234 · 01/06/2022 08:35

Try pickles ointment. My sister tried it on her pizza crust heels 🤢 and really helped.

Dunnoburt · 01/06/2022 08:36

Warning ... Grim pic, as you can see, super sore (and that's one of many! !) ! Will try the Flexitol.... And give in to looking into a podiatrist..... Thanks all

I would recommend a good quality foot file such as Microplane brand and I find OKeefe's Healthy Feet cream to be very effective.

I can't see Vaseline doing anything to help at all - it doesn't get absorbed, does it?

purplesequins · 01/06/2022 08:39

vaseline would only work after a good soak (with a tablespoon of soda cystals in the water) to lock in the moisture.
but any rich moisturiser would be better than just petroleum jelly.

TheyAreMinerals · 01/06/2022 08:39

If you need immediate relief from the pain of the cracks, you can buy a product like "liquid plaster" (Nexcare is one brand). You paint it on like nail varnish and it seals the crack.

I recommend O'Keefe's cream for keeping your heels soft.

Badknitter · 01/06/2022 08:39

My feet are worse than that and no podiatrist has run away screaming- you will be fine

cherrypiepie · 01/06/2022 08:39

Get an electric foot file and some Flexitol heel balm from Amazon for £15 your feet will feel amazing a week.

After using the file (dry is best I find) Put the flexitol on in layers in the evening (put some on and rub it and repeat until no more will absorb) then some cotton footsie socks.

Took ages for the fissures to heal fully on my feet as.

Do not use Vaseline. Do not use a callus knife (speaks from painful experience)

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 01/06/2022 08:39

Flexitol is in offer in Tesco at the moment

icklekid · 01/06/2022 08:39

My feet are absolutely the part of my body I am
most embarrassed about. Last month I sucked it up and booked an appointment to do something about it because I refuse to be embarrassed about something when I could take control. They will definitely have seen others the same if not worse. Be brave!

Minesril · 01/06/2022 08:40

Salt scrub, file before rinsing it off
And then
The kind of moisturiser you put on when feet are still wet. Sanctuary do a good one.

Moithered · 01/06/2022 08:40

DysmalRadius · 01/06/2022 08:25

You can get medical superglue called Dermabond, I think, although there are other brand names for it. That would probably do the trick.

No, it wouldn't
Please don't be supergluing any bits of yourself together whether with medical drage glue of not
Too much risk if infection/problems

AnnaMagnani · 01/06/2022 08:40

It needs to be the 25% urea that you get in Flexitol heel balm.

It will also sting like crazy on the raw bits.

My feet were worse than that for years. Flexitol healed them in a week.

SemperIdem · 01/06/2022 08:44

That sounds very painful!

Vaseline needs to be used after a very rich moisturiser. It’s not a moisturiser itself,

SemperIdem · 01/06/2022 08:45

^but can help lock in moisture.

I used to have terribly cracked feet. I went to a podiatrist and was apologetic about my feet and he said 'blimey I see far worse than this'. Honestly they are feet that are smelly, infected, with in growing or super long tie-nails. He recommended filing and using urea cream. Mine are fine now but I do avoid having bare feet too much.
