To think Harry and Meg should be banned from the Queens Jubilee?

CallMeCatherine · 28/05/2022 20:58

Why are they bothering?

They hate the UK, the RF, the whole institution and couldn’t wait to escape, accused the RF and British public of being racist, not welcoming Meg, or caring about her mental health. Her SIL even made her cry allegedly! They did a public interview about it being so hard being a Duke and Duchess in the UK that they just had to flee to a California mansion so they could be Royal there instead.

Do we as the public want to see them at a publicly funded celebration of our Queens 70 years on our throne? All they’ve done is embarrass the monarchy selling stories and their connection.

AIBU to think the Queen should have cut them orf?

[Yes, Andrew has massively embarrassed the monarchy as well but he didn’t flounce from the UK and give interviews about how the RF let him down.]

I’ll never understand the hatred for someone people don’t know, will never meet and who has absolutely no effect on their life whatsoever.
It’s absurd.

Parasocial relationships isn't it. People feel like they know them because they're in the news so much, which can often lead to these one-way emotional connections and responses. Obviously completely irrational but then humans mostly are!

IDreamOfTheMoors · 29/05/2022 06:32

@User487216

Yes, I see what you’re saying. I was thinking more how people read the “rags” and believe the hateful, spiteful lies & crap printed in them — then go online and spread the hate & lies and it multiplies over & over again until millions of people believe it and join in the hate.
Over some bullshit lie some crap halfwit rag wrote to sell copies.

Maybebabyno2 · 29/05/2022 06:37

I don't think you can say Meghan and Harry are worse than Andrew. They just made a quick buck selling some stories, he was knowlingly hanging out with paedos! I am a bit shocked he has the audacity to be involved to be honest.

But ultimately it is up to the Queen who she invites to her own party. She probably wants to use it as an opportunity to mend the friction in her family, if they weren't royals, no-one would question this.

IDreamOfTheMoors · 29/05/2022 06:40

@HarlanPepper

I’m not irrational. You aren’t irrational.

Many people just love to hate. They love to feel superior to somebody else. They don’t stop to think how truly inferior it makes them look.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/05/2022 23:03

Dear god - I was about to query whether or not it really was a set-up for photos, but if that image is for real it seems to remove all doubt

That is shocking image. Maybe she’s just being more open about it than some- who knows- but it is horrible.

Floweryflora · 29/05/2022 07:02

I agree with uou op, Meghan and Harry will overshadow this and they have behaved terribly, selling stories on the royal family and trash talking them for cash and not wishing to be working royals, they have made their disdain for the organisation clear. I suspect they have blackmailed their way in. Let us be there or we will sell more stories kind of thing.

it’s also very clear they are failing in thr states, they are trading on his royal title and connections, so they need to reinvigorate that as the public is loosing interest on them as they are just a pair of losers. Selling the same trash talk over and over and no one wants to hear it any more. They are beyond contentious.

I don’t think Andrew should be there either, but I think that’s much more awkward, as he is her son, and he’s not been found guilty of anything, no matter how obvious it seems he is, making that pay out was shameful.

i do think she’s permitted it becayse they have forced it and this is the safest route for the royal family, which is also deeply shameful, they have all made it about them and not her and she’s just trying to unite her family

Indiana2021 · 28/05/2022 21:16

our queen's 70 years on our throne?

Bit intense OP. I'm thinking that you're either Amanda Holden or Nicholas Witchell.

And Andrew didn't 'massively embarrass' the Royal Family. He bought his way out of a serious sexual assault situation and is clearly dodgy as fuck.

How weird that you find H & M 'flouncing' to LA more offensive than that. I'd keep on running if I was part of that family.

It’s quite sickening how blinkered these racists are. They find it easier to justify the actions of an alleged sex offender than a black woman defending herself against media bullying.

HeyItsPickleRick · 29/05/2022 07:08

None of us common people can really know what went on between a grran

HeyItsPickleRick · 29/05/2022 07:09

*between a grandmother and her grandson. And if I'm honest it doesn't interest me.

locok · 29/05/2022 07:14

I suspect they have blackmailed their way in.

They are damned if they do & damned if they don't. If they don't go it's offensive & a slight. If they do go it's cause they blackmailed the Queen. 🙄

Yes, and it’s also about representation and republicanism. Big groups of people don’t support the royals. Big groups of people saw MM as finally a reflection of themselves, or wider society in the monarchy. The different factors overlay each other.

MintJulia · 29/05/2022 07:19

Surely the whole point is, it's the Queens Jubilee.

She's spent 70 years attending events organised by other people, all those state dinners and opening ceremonies.

She should be allowed to invite whoever she likes to her own party.

(Despite the fact I think H is a spoilt brat and MM is a manipulative insincere diva)

PAFMO · 29/05/2022 07:26

PrinnyPree · 28/05/2022 23:51

What a world we live in that marrying a mixed race women and protecting her from the press that killed his mother is a worse offence than being a lying pedophile.

If it's any consolation, I don't know anyone in real life who thinks like that. Remember MN gets astroturfed regularly by "activists" with various axes to grind.
The Meghan racists even had their own group elsewhere in cyberspace.
If you AS most of the racist posters on this thread, they either joined MN today (= namechanging to spout their bile) or have a couple of threads always on dodgy themes.

namechanged221 · 29/05/2022 07:37

Yes, Harry is her grandson, what's so hard to understand here? Maybe don't believe everything you read in the papers?

MintyMoocow · 29/05/2022 07:41

Don’t care, I just love any excuse to get pissed with the neighbours

PAFMO · 29/05/2022 07:45

Bubblesandsqueak1 · 29/05/2022 02:35

@mookie81 sorry if it offended you but its not offensive to me as I am coloured i am not black or white just because some people don't like the term doesn't mean its not a fact

Behave.

EdithWeston · 29/05/2022 07:49

I think it would be entirely wrong to seek to bar them.

But I do think, given what the couple have chosen to say on record, that it's a somewhat jarring decision to come. OTOH, it's a way to make a first trip back just one facet of a far bigger thing. Quick wave from the balcony then bugger off to their own pad, or up to Balmoral where they could see the whole family in a glorious setting but crucially in private

TheKeatingFive · 29/05/2022 07:53

It's downright weird to decide you have this level of understanding of the motivations of someone you've never met.

cabansunset · 29/05/2022 07:59

It is hypocritical to attend after the way they've slagged off the RF family so publicly.

But they need they need to keep in with the family to remain sellable and have content for Netflix. That's why they're coming.

PAFMO · 29/05/2022 08:02

I suppose in the way that a man who married his mistress creates a vacancy for the next one, the arrival of MM took the weight from Kate. And the other royal women who have always been the victims of hatred from the knuckle draggers.

It would make an interesting anthropological-sociological study I think.
People who hate a family so much yet remain utterly obsessed with them. Only the women mind! The men can be serial adulterers, "bit of a paedophile", dress like they've been at the 4 year old dressing up box in the church hall, thick as shit, unable to stick at a job and grabby as all get out but it's the women who get the abuse for wearing jeans (only the black women mind, keep up!) and eating avocadoes (ditto)

Remember all the stuff from way back about Kate's pushy parents, planning virtually from the minute she was born to get her into William's flight path? Her "common" mother whose "lips were too thin" and the behaviour of her sister?

Or Sophie? The sheikh?

Diana? And everything she ever did until dying?

Sarah?

Princess Margaret?

Princess Anne? Universally hated throughout the 70s for wearing the same frocks twice, preferring animals to people and telling some of the latter to do one?

There's some warped misogyny in the nation's collective psyche, that's for sure.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 29/05/2022 08:03

I honestly don’t care about any of it.

aside from the Andrew thing. He should be in prison.

BigOldBlobber · 28/05/2022 21:05

Just because nothing came out in the news as 'proof' doesn't mean MM wasn't subject to racism. 🙄

Also, what @Thatswhyimacat said

Or not.

But everyone who criticises her is obviously a "racist".

Chilledchablis1 · 28/05/2022 21:01

I totally agree with you and still am not convinced they will both come . Having said that , if HM wants all her family there I can understand why she invited them .
I just hope they don’t have a Netflix crew trailing them the way MM did in Texas .
And I agree that Andrew is an unpleasant twat.

I didn't think she did have the Netflix crew - thought it was a private visit?
