To think Harry and Meg should be banned from the Queens Jubilee?

Why are they bothering?

They hate the UK, the RF, the whole institution and couldn’t wait to escape, accused the RF and British public of being racist, not welcoming Meg, or caring about her mental health. Her SIL even made her cry allegedly! They did a public interview about it being so hard being a Duke and Duchess in the UK that they just had to flee to a California mansion so they could be Royal there instead.

Do we as the public want to see them at a publicly funded celebration of our Queens 70 years on our throne? All they’ve done is embarrass the monarchy selling stories and their connection.

AIBU to think the Queen should have cut them orf?

[Yes, Andrew has massively embarrassed the monarchy as well but he didn’t flounce from the UK and give interviews about how the RF let him down.]

All these people (racists) who know Harry and Meghan so well they can predict their next moves and thoughts. Maybe steps away from the Daily mail hate and if you are parents (and I so hope not) think about how your vile and racist obsession with 2 people that you do not know are impacting on your children.

Port1aCastis · 31/05/2022 11:46

Totally agree Flowery
I just cannot understand the hatred towards people others do not know or have met.
Very odd and quite concerning that the media has the power to fester all this bile

It worries me as someone who is of mixed heritage that these people exist and are so open about their racist hate online but I bet would be as nice as pie to me in person. But they are building the racist hate into future generations and MN letting threads like this run normalises what is totally unacceptable behaviour.

LilythePunk · 31/05/2022 14:16

Where is the racism? What racist remarks have been made? There has been general discussion but no racist remarks as far as I can see!

letsnotdothat · 31/05/2022 15:09

YABU just for thinking they’re worse than an alleged sex offender.

herecomesthsun · 31/05/2022 15:11

Not really a royalist, but generally think good on Harry for sticking up for his wife.

Deep embedded racism. It isn't about making an openly racist comment which MN may or may not remove

It is about deep seated racist views that make people hate Meghan Markle- a woman they have never met but who is a strong confident successful black woman just because she is black. They pretend that it is because of other things but of course it isn't.

They feed off the racist Daily Mail- Kate holds her bump its great, Meghan holds her she is wrong, eating avocados, what they wear, the list goes on and on.

If you cant see the racism on this and every other thread about her then that says a lot about you.

herecomesthsun · 31/05/2022 15:51

I completely agree that there is a racist subtext in the press treatment of Meghan Markle. The implication is that she is too big for her boots in marrying a royal [because she is mixed race] and so everything she does is therefore wrong - daring to call her child after the great grandmother (how dare she, she is mixed race!)
-wearing designer clothes [how dare she, she is mixed race]
-wanting to try a tiara on before the wedding [and so on]

How could you carry on married life and be happy with all that in the papers every day? Hardly surprising they moved.

LilythePunk · 31/05/2022 16:37

No, not because she’s mixed race. This argument goes on and on and on on these threads. For SOME people that may be a factor. Not all, by any means. That is an assumption not based on any factual evidence at all.

It’s like saying anyone who doesn’t really like Oprah Winfrey (what they know of her based on her own behaviour, comments etc) must be racist.

queenofarles · 31/05/2022 16:37

Dare I say it? It’s More about class and less about racism, I haven’t read anything negative about Doria in the papers, only good things about her volunteering work,
but goodness ,the press had so much fun with the loud Markles. , the whole thing was like a circus.

LilythePunk · 31/05/2022 16:44

I agree. I think that class has much more to do with it. The Markles are like a family on the Jeremy Kyle show. They don’t help themselves and are a perfect target for the press to rip to shreds.

easyday · 31/05/2022 16:53

They don't hate the Queen though do they, and I'm sure she doesn't hate them!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 31/05/2022 16:58

For SOME people (race) may be a factor. Not all, by any means

Save your breath, Lily; you'll never convince the "this criticism's all based in racism" folk no matter how rationally you put it

Ironic, really, that some insist - correctly - that none of us know Meghan, but then claim to know the motivation of people theyve never met and don't know either

Forinara · 31/05/2022 17:03

It is ALL about class. There is a glaringly obvious, unbridgeable class gap. The harder she tries (yes, she does try hard) , the more obvious it becomes.
This has triggered a whole host of problems and obliged Harry to give up/push away everything/everyone whom she sees as a threat (which is most of what he knows).
There has been a gold medal worthy acceleration to marriage and 2.4 kids (and a dog) within record time. It is very different to their previous relationship patterns.
During the young children phase, she would naturally have the upper hand and he will be wishing to demonstrate unity against all odds. That stance grows tired quickly.

Class is really nothing to do with current spending power. Otherwise, she would be considered classy by that definition. I fear that there are posters on this thread who don't have a clue what it means.

That is to do with ethics and morality. Prince Andrew may be a hebephile but that does not make him a plebe.

Forinara · 31/05/2022 17:28

Or even an ephebophile.

Not really a royalist, but generally think good on Harry for sticking up for his wife.

How did Harry (who people conveniently documented form for being racist) stick up for her? She’s not black or anything you know talking about His Zimbabwean girlfriend Chelsey Davy.

The Oprah interview is unavailable now for some reason. Transcript here.

Meghan said “concerns while she was pregnant about how dark his skin might be when he’s born”. Several conversations relayed from Harry. Don’t forget she was suicidal at some point too during pregnancy - was that before or after he told her? He left her to get on and try and sort out her own help - even though he has apparently been in counselling for a lot of his life.

Harry says it was right at the beginning before they got married.

Recollections may vary - or gaslighting by Harry?

I would be very surprised if Meghan comes with Harry. But we will find out tomorrow when they both arrive (maybe😉)

LilythePunk · 31/05/2022 17:46

They’ve already announced they will all be coming.

Forinara · 31/05/2022 17:46

Umm, I think Harry has understood that if he is going (and his grandmother would rightfully expect this), then she WILL be coming with him even though nobody wants to see her.
Unfortunately, it is a relationship where the person who feels aggrieved and rejected reacts by seeking to control the one whom they have isolated for their own benefit. Therefore, she would DEMAND to be a witness to all the (dull) family chit chat to make sure that nobody exerts an adverse influence upon him and turns him against her at record speed. I expect all his communications are policed in the same way.
