Who will win between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case

Egtermekaar · 25/05/2022 14:49

If you were jury in this case, how would you decide?

I think Johnny Depp will win because he had strong, reliable and consistent evidence of "his" case

I hope MN will allow debate about a matter of public interest.

Interesting that the jury were uncomfortable with Amber's eye contact and attempts to talk over Camilla directly to them. Johnny only ever addressed the lawyer. @Aspiringmatriarch is being intimidating to the jury OK, or am I still a trolling liar?

Yes dear, you are still a trolling liar. Speaking directly to the jury quite obviously is not intimidation.

mynamesnotMa · 03/06/2022 12:14

Calm down. No need for such aggression.

You are biased.

He isn't a victim. He's a liar a dirty vile junkie and sick abuser.

You are really quite disgusting. HOw interesting you call Enemy for his aggression (he wasn't) and then say something as foul as that.

Aspiringmatriarch · 03/06/2022 12:18

Oh for an ignore button.

Is that why Camilla told her it was inappropriate and requested for her to stop doing it (and also moved to strike anything she said to the jury directly?)

How interesting that I'm the trolling liar - a description best suited for the woman you're blindly supporting.

ah, so its only OK to shut women up when they disagree with you. Cool.

TheEnemy123 · 03/06/2022 11:20

That's OK, doesn't bother me. As those of us who are reasonable have tried to say repeatedly, a victim is a victim, male or female :)

My abuser once said to me, knowing I was devastated by a miscarriage myself and my ex-wife had suffered a few years previously, that she wished she'd gotten pregnant just so that she could kill it in front of me and see my face.

And some people still thought she was the victim and I the abuser, purely because she was a woman. So I've been in JD's shoes (albeit with a bit less money) and I'll always stand up for others who have suffered similarly.

Well firstly, if that’s really a jury member, there’s no way they weren’t on social media during the trial. Hours after they get out of court, they’ve caught up with social media and started posting anonymously about it? Unlikely.

But also - why would Kate Moss testifying change anything? There absolutely was rumours for years that that had happened, Kate Moss saying it didn’t doesn’t magically erase those rumours and blind items that were all over for years.

People seemed to think that was a huge thing for the case, but it shouldn’t have made any difference because the gossip did exist.

It mattered because it proved that Amber is manipulative. Her story about punching Johnny because she thought of Kate Moss and therefore thought she would be thrown down the stairs was designed to imply to people that Johnny is capable of that, despite the fact he isn't. The ego on her to assume she can speak for the woman it supposedly happened to.

SleeplessInEngland · 03/06/2022 12:23

I haven’t followed the details of the case and have no strong opinion about either side but career-wise I suspect it’s a fleeting victory for Depp. His blockbuster headlining days are long gone. No big time producer’s going to want a star with that much baggage. It’ll just be a bunch of indie movies no one will watch from here on out. People say ‘but Mel Gibson still has a career!’ Well, not compared to the 80s and 90s he doesn’t.

Except it doesn’t prove that at all, because it was a well known story, that lots of people had read online or heard about.

But Amber was his wife. So "I heard a rumour" is an utterly ridiculous proposition. She knew what she was doing.

mynamesnotMa · 03/06/2022 12:27

We aren't all blind to his behaviour or obsessed sycophants. So we aren't as biased in our judgement. The whole case has been an utter abuse of power and a farce

It has been so damaging for victims of abuse of both sexes. Stop making it about gender.
Calling him Johnny like you know him.

He was always going to win. The jury were utterly co orced and influenced these are ordinary people with no legal training. The judge had to repeat and explain what they were actually deciding on.

Ofcourse she looked at the jury and judge that's what you are meant to do.
She comes across as desperate hysterical and unhinged abuse does that to you. Whilst he waves smirks and gets up on stage to perform. Interesting he wasn't there at the end though. Just incase he was unmasked.

The whole thing was a joke. With arm chair experts spouting rubbish with no legal training or understanding of human behaviour.

I don't care how big a fan and overly invested you are. Or why you hate her so much because she dared to try and stand up to him.

Some of us aren't gullible.

Because they clearly had such a close and trusting relationship? 🙄

What?! How long does it take to go on social media? He said that when he went online after he'd finished, he thought it funny to see the 100hrs of testimony he'd sat through shortened into small sections. I don't know why you'd accuse him of breaking the court rules of not looking at SM. Is it because he decided for JD so he must be suspect?

Of course I accept the possibility that he might not be a jury member.

And to the poster saying AH was trying to intimidate the jury, I never said that. I just said it made him feel uncomfortable because it wasn't natural.

How funny that one comment shows that people have so much bias, that they either use his words to condemn the process or twist them to condemn a litigant. He can't just be accepted as an honest guy giving genuine feedback.

Johnny Depp always did a lot of independent movies. I suspect he likes them a lot more than working for Disney.

You seem to be extrapolating a lot in your posts but re meant to look at the jury where does this come from?

Is it different in the US as here on a trial the defendant directed answers to the barrister or judge.

TheAverageUser · 03/06/2022 12:36

I think people are generally good at reading other people subconsciously and that's what the jury did. For them it was clear she was lying in a lot of her testimony and that was compounded by her behaviour around the charity payments. From then the jury know as a fact that she's a liar so it's all an uphill battle from there for her legal team.

justfiveminutes · 03/06/2022 12:36

She just wasn't believable was she. I went into it defending her but couldn't continue. Who could really. Obvious, provable lies. Once you know she has lied, you start to analyse and doubt everything she says.

Surely the people defending her didn't watch it? Or maybe the type of person who can't ever back down from a position.

All the excuses now, from fans and her own legal team, are just shameful. They are now blaming the judge, the stupid jurors, social media, the suppression of evidence.

Why is it impossible to accept that the jurors did their duty diligently, avoided sm, understood their role fully, but didn't believe her.

All mainstream headlines supported AH or were unbiased. Unless the jurors were 15, I doubt they were on tik tok.

Depp's legal team seem to be keeping a dignified silence so far, no gloating. Wish AH's could do the same.

LetitiaLeghorn · 03/06/2022 12:36

They both performed. They're actors, how could they not? If you believe either of them were not using their acting skills to try to impress you, then I think you are gullible.

I think it’s pretty blooming odd that literally the first thing he’d do is start posting anonymously about the trial - because it was so quickly afterwards that he wouldn’t have even had time to do anything else first.

So tbh, I think it’s fake, but if it’s not, no, I don’t believe he had time to have been all caught up by the time he was posting without having already seen it.

tabulahrasa · 03/06/2022 12:41

“Depp's legal team seem to be keeping a dignified silence so far, no gloating.”

To be fair - they’ve got his next assault case to prepare for, they’re probably too busy.

It's not about supporting her. It's the abuse of power and obvious biased reporting. The evidence was clear he abused her and in her co od she spoke up for victims of abuse. So if the cap fits .
Please kindly refrain from name calling other posters. It demonstrates your inability to respect an alternative argument.

What do you want me to call him? Steven?

I actually didn't think he'd win, but I'm glad he did.

He wans't there at the end because he didn't want to gloat.

I'm not a fan of him, at all, I've seen maybe one Pirate film and nothing else. and I don't hate her. I just think she's an abusive liar and a disgrace to real victims.
