Who will win between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case

Egtermekaar · 25/05/2022 14:49

If you were jury in this case, how would you decide?

I think Johnny Depp will win because he had strong, reliable and consistent evidence of "his" case

I hope MN will allow debate about a matter of public interest.

He has always came across as a decent guy , a little troubled maybe, a bit complex, but still warm and genuine…
I like him

And this, is how men like Depp get away with abusing women. People fall for their public nice guy act.

AchatAVendre · 01/06/2022 22:51

I'm beginning to think the US, or much of it, is a really sexist country. First it wants to restrict abortion and next it produces a court decision completely at odds with one in the UK on the same issue of male violence.

Is it a really sexist, old fashioned country to be a woman in?

I can't believe anyone could actually watch the case (rather than just read about it) and not agree with the jury's verdict.

A good example of why cases are best decided by trained judges and not members of the public who are too easily swayed by celebrity and power.

@TalkingCat

No he wasnt found guilty of anything.

@Agrudge In a court in the UK he was found to have abused Heard. The verdict was based on analysis of 14 counts of domestic abuse of which 12 were found to be proven.

He took the sun to court for labelling him a wife beater. He lost the case. That's not the same as being found guilty

She lied throughout her testimony, I usually don't like the televised American court system, but it was useful here. Amber heard came across as an abuser to me.

Women can lie, women can be cruel, women can and do make up crap to get back at exes. It backfired on her. She deserves her karma.

I grew up with a violent father, it has really angered me seeing her setting genuine survivors of DV back.

TalkingCat · 01/06/2022 23:03

Depp fans call it into question? Lol Of course they would.

Goodbye offensive post 👋🏻👋🏻

Birdie746 · 01/06/2022 23:06

The way she was hounding him like a proper psycho on her own audio filled in a lot of blanks for me regarding what went on in the bathroom just before Jodi Arias cornered Travis in the shower.

I'm not a Depp fan and I'm also calling him into question. Ooh what now?

Oh the case that included such evidential gems as the judge deciding him trashing a trailer "fit a pattern of behaviour" so must have happened, despite the owner of said trailer park since telling the US court that never happened?

Sounds like a bombproof verdict 👍😂

Goodbye offensive post 👋🏻👋🏻

Hope so I reported it too

worriedaboutmoney2022 · 01/06/2022 23:17

Who knows
More to the point who cares they're both as bad as each other

Ithoughtsummerwascoming · 01/06/2022 23:18

Hear we go, I also really like him.

But...i still feel somewhere in the middle would have been better.
Something with Amber definitely doesn't add up but he's got a monster in him, by his own repeated admission.

I think a judge is better at assessing evidence using adductive thinking than a jury using celebrity-purchased or at least influenced witnesses. I mean, what could the owner of that trailer park ever stand to gain for giving evidence to benefit the rich, powerful and famous Johnny Depp, in comparison to the universally derided Amber Heard?

Curlykimbo · 01/06/2022 23:22

The Uk judge also believed Amber was a credible witness because she donated her divorce settlement to charity. Didn’t bother to check if that was true. We now know that she didn’t. We now know she was colluding with TMZ to get videos and photographs released that would benefit her. The UK trial was floored.

Ithoughtsummerwascoming · 01/06/2022 23:23

Guess next steps for him will be to run for president

But then, where do you stop with that? Nothing anyone ever says in support of someone who happens to be rich and famous can be seen as credible? That's essentially saying those with influence can never get real justice because their money and fame means everyone giving testimony in their behalf is suspect, effectively committing perjury.

Kate Moss herself gave testimony in JD's support. Is she swayed by power and influence too?

@Midlifemusings
Hi would you mind DMing me, you make so much sense! Can't find Tiddy but I understand they shut the thread down😔

Libertaire · 01/06/2022 23:32

So, they both lost and they are both appalling, toxic human beings. Heard lost by a bit more than Depp lost, but he still lost.

And the lawyers won, in a very big way. Good for them. 💰💰💰💰

Sounds like a pretty fair result all round to me. 👏👏👏
