Who will win between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case

If you were jury in this case, how would you decide?

I think Johnny Depp will win because he had strong, reliable and consistent evidence of "his" case

I hope MN will allow debate about a matter of public interest.

Bloody hell. My nerves!

smileyworld · 01/06/2022 20:31

Well, there we go then!

SnottyLottie · 01/06/2022 20:32

Johnny wins his defamation case and wins £15m, Amber wins one of her defamation claims and is awarded £2m.

SnottyLottie · 01/06/2022 20:33

*counter claim

Agrudge · 01/06/2022 20:33

It wont be enough for some . He will still be "guilty" in the eyes of some users

toastedcat · 01/06/2022 20:34

Thrilled! Well done, jury.

Ijangedname · 01/06/2022 20:34

and the Jury believed JD

justfiveminutes · 01/06/2022 20:37

Fair verdict. Very pleased for him.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 01/06/2022 20:45

Fantastic result!

MeropeRiddle · 01/06/2022 20:49

MarshaBradyo, Johnny pays 2mil to Amber because his previous lawyer in the UK case posted those articles. They proved malice hence why she gets the 2mil.

Hearwego · 01/06/2022 20:53

He has always came across as a decent guy , a little troubled maybe, a bit complex, but still warm and genuine…
I like him

So they both "won", but he won more.

Will Johnny try to overturn the decision of being called a wife battered I wonder?

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 01/06/2022 21:09

He can't overturn the UK case. He already tried and was denied an appeal because he had no new evidence.
The findings of an US jury case have no bearing on it. He just played the odds - correctly assuming that jury cases tend to favour wealthy men especially in cases of abuse. It's why many DV and SA experts think those types of cases would be better heard by judges because juries invariably don't understand the law.

SofiaSoFar · 01/06/2022 21:37

I can't believe anyone could actually watch the case (rather than just read about it) and not agree with the jury's verdict.

Supersimkin2 · 01/06/2022 22:16

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

Giraffesandbottoms · 01/06/2022 22:19

Why has the judge reduced the amount he receives? What’s the point of asking the jury to decide if she does that?

SunscreenCentral · 01/06/2022 22:31

Delighted for JD and for all survivors of abuse. I watched every minute of that trial.

AH is a weapon, and of course she was straight onto twitter within seconds.

@Agrudge He was found guilty of domestic abuse in a court in the UK. So he is officially guilty, so yes, he will always be guilty.

@SunscreenCentral JD was straight onto Instagram only 2 minutes after her.

Since he was found guilty of abuse in a court in the UK, why are you delighted for a convicted abuser like Depp?

Exactly. This is another OJ Simpson. Justice only favours the rich in the US. That's why Heard won in the UK.

Yeah I'm not sure the twitter post was a great idea

Agrudge · 01/06/2022 22:50
