Roussette
He has removed it from the foreward of the Ministerial Code.
Sorry to disappoint.

I'm not disappointed at all - now you are claiming that you only meant the foreward to the Ministerial Code and not the Code itself.

JustDanceAddict · 28/05/2022 08:13

Nowt! All socialising was online again 😔

i can’t get over my disgust for Boris and co - a govt leads from the top and he allowed all this to happen.

can’t compare it to one-beer Keir.

JustDanceAddict · 28/05/2022 08:18

Also where I worked was v strict on social distancing so barely any contact w colleagues outside your actual
office room and desks were distanced. Working & socialising w colleagues are very different beasts.

You twist everything into how you want to justify what Johnson is doing to the Ministerial Code. Luckily, there are intelligent sensible posters on here who can see it for what it is.
And what timing!
Just before fuzzy wuzzy jubilee and a recess and the outcome of the Privileges Committee investigation into him. Kerching!

SueSaid · 28/05/2022 09:54

'You twist everything into how you want to justify what Johnson is doing'

'Twist' aka providing evidence to dispute your claims.

Clav runs rings round some of you.

HesterShaw1 · 28/05/2022 09:54

I actually think this is the most scary thing he's done. He's reacting angrily now - he's angry at being challenged because he's so utterly entitled.

You're her superfan I can see, what a surprise, not.

I followed up with what I meant, but just ignore that bit why don't you? And ignore the content of my post.

Are you OK with the re-writing of the Ministerial Code? Do you feel it's an erosion of honesty and decency. No probably not. Silly question. Immaculate timing from BJ, just in time for his investigation. Any comment on that?

Totally agree.

Humbled and apologetic one day.

Next day, he's so humbled, he changes the rules so that the Ethics Adviser can't investigate him, and those in Parliament won't have to resign for breaking the Code. Saving his own skin

So humble, so apologetic Hmm

Superfan? Why do you lower yourself to this crap. No i just see clav calmly and pleasantly posting evidence to refute claims made by you and others. It must be annoying granted.

I'd be interested to see how you'd react on other threads if people call you a 'superfan' Shock

Why did the Ministerial Code need any changes?

I see none of the Johnson fans have seen fit to address this rather pertinent question, choosing instead to quibble about whether it is the “intro” or the “code” that’s been amended…

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 28/05/2022 11:26

Anyway, to get back to Boris (and not personal attacks on MN trying to derail attention from him). The Tory Party members that I know have been very unhappy with him for a while. They've been sending letters in to the local party offices and meeting with MPs to let them know they think Boris' behaviour is damaging.

@Roussette I appreciate your point about letting him bring the entire party down but I think he has already done immeasurable damage to the UK's reputation overseas, to democracy and to trust in institutions. I'd much rather see a leadership challenge than suffer through his craven incompetence for another moment.

Of course, it begs the question - who would replace him? But at this stage, I think they'd be hard pressed to find someone worse than Boris. And if he's removed then the new candidate will have to, at least attempt, to pull the Party out of the gutter of backhanders, contracts for friends, blatant lawbreaking and disdain for the entire country. We can still vote them out at the next GE.

Just checked my google calendar...apparently I was receiving a parcel from Amazon (blood pressure monitor) and teaching online from home, as my year group bubble had popped 2 days earlier...we were the first year group in school that this had happened to (Year 2) and we were SO not prepared, had no planning or training on Teams, so no idea what we were doing. It was utterly terrifying! (Massively let down by our school SLT on this, despite asking OVER AND OVER, what's the plan for bubble closures, what platform should we use to deliver, can we have some training etc)

Now though...I feel like I'm a bloody expert on TEAMS and think nothing of dual teaching in school and online simultaneously 🤣 How quickly we had to adapt! 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Boris Be Gone!! (That would be a great hashtag!! #borisbegone 🤣)

Roussette · 28/05/2022 11:38

@DaisyQuakeJohnson

I totally agree with you on the untold damage. I do want him forced out really... I was just thinking of best scenario in the worst situation.

Yes to this. I have seen it time and time again on MN. Be defensive, be on the back foot, pick one tiny thing up in someone's post, and go on about it, don't address the bigger question because there is no answer.. in other words, splitting hairs.
Why did the Ministerial code need changing? (it didn't)
Why now, if it did need changing? (to save BJ's skin)
Why have no lessons been learned since the Owen Patterson debacle? (because it's BJ's character)
I could go on

No lessons were learned because to learn a lesson you need to acknowledge a consequence. Boris doesn’t acknowledge consequences. He hides from them instead and waits for people to either give up in exhaustion or the environment to have shifted enough they become irrelevant.

MrsFezziwig · 29/05/2022 02:03

Seen some interesting tweets making the point that, far from meeting up being ok because they were working together anyway, the importance of their work meant that they should have been even more scrupulous in maintaining distancing and keeping contact to a minimum.

When you contrast their behaviour with doctors and nurses moving out of their family homes to minimise contact, and minimum wage workers moving into care homes to reduce the chances of them bringing Covid in from outside, the Downing Street mob should be embarrassed. Are these really the brightest and best in the country?

You were asked if you were OK with the rewriting of the ministerial code. Strangely, you seem to have evaded that question.
