while the PM was partying.....?

OP posts:
Dashdotdotdash · 23/05/2022 22:53

Not looking forward to my imminent birthday as I wasn't going to see family and friends other than online. Certainly I had no party plans because, foolishly, I believed that it would be both against the law and totally irresponsible.

I was working on a late shift and 3 of our residents died ….a bloody awful day seeing them literally being put in body bags and their heads covered in another bag …bloody shocking!!! Good that the PM was enjoying himself!!

Bloody hell 1963 that is shocking. How anyone with any sense can defend them/him I just can't fathom it.

Hbh17 · 23/05/2022 22:47

I have no idea, because it's not important, and I don't know anybody who cares in the slightest what the PM may have been doing. Such a tedious subject.....

Well bloody good for you !! Not sure what your friendship group are like but many people were trying to keep to the so called rules!! Hope you are coping with the tedium of this thread….shall 🙏 for you !!

Justgivemeamoment · 23/05/2022 22:56

Celebrated my 40th birthday at home.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 23/05/2022 22:58

According to my Instagram stories I attempted to make cookies with my then 1 year old ds followed by a teams game night with a group of friends. All of us in our own homes...

BogRollBOGOF · 23/05/2022 22:59

Probably getting the kids out of school, into the car and off to a park to use the last half hour of daylight to burn off their energy as their clubs were stopped.

I spent my days doing fuck-all, posting on MN and being vilified for being anti-restrictions. There wasn't really much else to do to pass my existence for the best part of 18 months.

We know the Prime Minister is an arse. The opposition kept squawking for even worse restrictions though. Lockdown fucked the country. The Prime Minister and his cronies are hypocrites, but actually these people were together for work anyway so other than hypocrisy, it made no material difference to the situation. Why are we squandering millions of pounds on finding out the obvious, and clogging up the criminal justice system with ordinary people falling foul of the stupid rules. I'd rather see that money spent on undoing a fragment of the damage caused, catching up on the backlogs in the public sector and move on.

My anger burned out a long time ago. Thank goodness the numbness of much of 2021 has lifted too as well.

ChagSameachDoreen · 23/05/2022 22:59

Not introducing my new baby to my family Sad

Isolating. I'd tested positive the previous weekend.

LakieLady · 23/05/2022 23:05

Crying, probably, and making arrangements for my partner's funeral, which was on the 18th.

Scorchedterf · 23/05/2022 23:06

My adult DC birthday, he was living alone. We went for a walk with him.

RogueBorg · 23/05/2022 23:09

@TeaAndChoccie thank you 🥰. It was a very frightening time for DH 😢.

itsnotmeitsu · 23/05/2022 23:09

But it's, "such a tedious subject". I was only allowed to visit my twin sister in intensive care because she was dying. She had a nurse and a trainee with her, in PPR. I was wearing an apron, mask, and face cover. I could swear she recognised my voice, but I'll never know. My last memory of my twin is her lying isolated in a room, and me not able to touch her, or give her comfort in any way. We'd shared our lives for over 60 years from birth, and I couldn't give her a last kiss. So crack on, those who make the rules for others whilst ignoring them for themselves. Just as long as we don't bore others with our grief.

AssemblySquare · 23/05/2022 23:09

That’s the day my wonderful MIL died. We were with her and didn’t obey the stupid rules - what the PM and his entourage were up to makes my blood boil.

And to the PPs saying it doesn’t matter… it fucking well does! The shit show this country has become is down to people like you who refuse to hold the government to account.

WeDontShutUpAboutBruno · 23/05/2022 23:10

I was recovering from an op that was delayed by months and has now left me with a permanent disability that should have been avoided Sad

easyday · 23/05/2022 23:12

It was around that time that we were required to travel 70 miles and stay in a hotel so my daughter could sit her sixth form entrance exams. I did think it was odd the school having dozens of girls from all over descend on the school. They had to wear masks in the hallway as resident students were there but could take their masks off during the exam.
The rules were pretty nonsensical at this point - you could work with other people but not socialise with them...

OverByYer · 23/05/2022 23:14

nothing apart from going to work.
im still so annoyed that Johnson so clearly broke the rules. Those of you who are ‘ bored ‘ of it all are part of the problem.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/05/2022 23:17

According to my photo “gallery” on my home:

Trying on some new pyjamas I’d got for by birthday the week or so before

Resaving some photos of the same date on 2019 when I’d been able to spend time with friends! So I was clearly feeling a bit melancholy about the new lockdown.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/05/2022 23:17

On my phone that should say

StuckonanLNERtrain · 23/05/2022 23:17

Probably in the pub
Just had covid- caught in the pub- in for a penny.....

MyneighbourisTotoro · 23/05/2022 23:18

Trying to come to terms with my husbands cancer diagnosis

loobylou10 · 23/05/2022 23:18

@Hbh17 but lots of people do care. It might be a 'tedious subject' for you but for others it's heartbreaking. Read the room for fucks sake.

StuckonanLNERtrain · 23/05/2022 23:19

Actually- I was probably on holiday in Italy.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/05/2022 23:20

@1963andbewildered and @itsnotmeitsu Im so sorry

What awful stories to have as part of your life

HollowTalk · 23/05/2022 23:20

My son was getting married in another country the following day. None of his friends or family could be there and we had to watch it on zoom.

My children's father died a few weeks earlier and no visitors were allowed until he was literally dying.

The insensitivity of those people is just breathtaking.
