I'm pretty sure that there was no party.

They do care. Tory polling has been terrible or 5 months straight since this broke, and Johnson's personal ratings have been abysmal.

The people whining that it's not a big deal are in the stark minority.

He's still the PM, so let him do the fucking job until the next election! Or keep reading the fucking articles about the 149 fines issued to the cnuts who put the fines in place lol.
It's done! They are cnuts! But Jesus. Can we stop???

I really can't find it in me to care 🤷‍♂️

Why comment on the thread then, expect to encourage other people's apathy?

It would stop if he resigned. Perhaps you could write a similarly exclamation mark ridden letter to your MP if he's a tory demanding he do so.

JetTail · 23/05/2022 11:20

Who were the 149 fines issued to?
Is that in the public domain?

I can type emails of disapproval to 149 fuckers in five minutes.
But, I don't care!
I HATED the restrictions. I almost died as a result of the restrictions. But please stop harping on about it. The fuckers are not going to resign! So just don't vote for them next time. But you will.

Well this whole thing is going to be blown in the middle of next century once Monkeypox starts to take hold, so we should celebrate the threads about cheese and cake whilst we still can.

JetTail · 23/05/2022 11:23

As a previous poster said - bigger fish to fry right now.

I think Boris is a bollocks, but a likeable one in a way. I think he's bizarrely human despite all of his privilege.

I get email alerts every morning from The Independent (apologies that it's not a more high-brow publication). At least one email is about partygate!!! FUCK OFF!

Assuming you're not a tory stooge trying the whole 'they're all as bad as each other' schtick, I'm not sure what you want from this thread. Peopel still care, the horse has bolted on them not caring because Johnsons didn't resign when it all came out.

I'm clinging to the notion that it's sexually transmitted and no sex is happening for me right now!

I'm one of three stoogies probably but I'm Irish? Tory party? NEVER!!!!!

Sorry to tell you that it is spread through respiratory droplets, and is unlikely to be a small issue in the coming months. Vaccines are coming but partygate will seem like a luxurious problem I suspect with everything that is coming down the line, sorry to say.

Swayingpalmtrees · 23/05/2022 11:30

We don't have the luxury of having any PM resign on us right now. We have Monkeypox spreading in the community, a war raging in Europe, a cost of living crisis mushrooming into a huge problem, a Queen that is very unwell according to reports and the markets are tanking daily.

What we are going to need is some steady nerves and some proper hardcore focus on some really serious issues. We can not afford any more bullshit about cheese or curries. We are going to need to prepare as a country for some really bumpy days.

No-one actually expects Johnson to resign now, but these are all piss-poor reasons for him to stay in the job. We changed leaders at the height of WW2.

Swayingpalmtrees · 23/05/2022 11:42

You can stop hoping for Johnson to resign, it is NEVER going to happen. There is no way on gods green earth he will leave. For sure he will be taking on the next election.

I do however feel that the chances of Starmer now resigning are much, much higher. Given the latest evidence and the confirmation of 15 gathering inside for beers etc there is every chance a fine will be issued. It is hard to imagine how it will be avoided.

grapewines · 23/05/2022 11:44

QuebecBagnet · 23/05/2022 10:56

I think that the prime minister lying to the public and parliament is fairly serious and not something we should “get over”. Some people have a seriously low bar for what they want from their elected leaders.

Exactly this.

Swayingpalmtrees · 23/05/2022 11:46

My grandmother will tell you WW2 was much easier than what we have been through to date I might add. It mainly happened elsewhere in Europe and there was no sense of isolation. Dancing, community spirit and the war time effort made everyone remember the good times as well as the bad during the war. Covid, now the war and now Monkeypox, not to mention the rest that is happening right now is far worse in many older people's view - who can compare both experiences.

You certainly seemed desperate for Starmer to go in the other thread you did on it. I'd still be surprised - the Durham constabulary didn't/don't seem keen on fines months after the act and the working dinner reasoning still holds up.

Oh look, we're talking about Starmer instead of Johnson now. Well played.

"My grandmother will tell you WW2 was much easier than what we have been through to date I might add"

If she believes that then I would not rely on her for any kind of historical veracity.

Blossomtoes · 23/05/2022 11:51

You give so few fucks that you’ve spent over two hours posting incessantly about it @JetTail. I’d hate to see what you’re like when you do give a fuck about something.

Personally I’m delighted Johnson hasn’t resigned. I’m perfectly happy for him to carry on making fuck up after fuck up so hopefully the Tories are out of power for a generation. They’re bonkers to hang on to him until the next election.

Young men were sent to fight in the war, were killed or wounded.

Women had to work in dangerous factories.

Children were sent to live with strangers in the countryside.

I agree, a few months of lockdown and the other COVID restrictions were way tougher than any of that. Hmm

No wonder the powers that be turned to communal drink to cope.

Swayingpalmtrees · 23/05/2022 12:04

It was my grandmother's LIVED experience sleepless, she has found the isolation of covid paralysing and distressing and far worse than her experience as young girl in the war. That was her account, and I don't think it is for you or anyone else to decide it is not valid to suit your political arguments.

ilovesooty · 23/05/2022 12:07

CupidStunt22 · 23/05/2022 10:08

However, Britain really lead the world imo in how Covid was handled

Are you high?

That's the polite interpretation. If I said how I interpret the sentiments of the OP I imagine I'd be deleted and probably banned.

Then her veiwpoint is extremely narrow and serves no use in this conversation. It's riduclous that you brought it up in the first place.

I think it’s a pretty common view among people her age. Obviously people’s perspective changes with age.

My parents were in their 20s during WW2 and they remembered it as a time when, despite the dreadful stuff that happened - and as a nurse and an airforce officer, they saw a lot of it - they had a lot of fun. They’d have been distraught in lockdown, to the extent that it was the only time I’ve been grateful they’re dead.

To be clear, I don't care what anecdotes you throw out - you're not going to convince me that the last 3 years have been worse than World War 2 no matter how nostalgic a few people are for their youth.

Apart from anything else it has bugger all to do with Boris Johnson.

Swayingpalmtrees · 23/05/2022 12:30

You are pretty deranged in your attempts to discredit other opinions *sleepless and disrespectful to boot, you are so wretchedly disappointed that Johnson has stayed, and partygate is now over - you can't even seem to have a rational conversation about why it is important not to dismiss the dismal situation of WW2 AND the pandemic. People are entitled to their opinions.

And out current situation is very far from over, so to compare the two is like sitting in the middle of WW1 and thinking things are not too bad - we haven't even reached the end of the beginning yet.

Covid is not over, monkeypox has only just started, and the economical pain is now coming into sharp focus - not to mention the barbaric scenes and the very very serious fall out of the war in Ukraine and the starvation, food and fuel shortages to come, and the wider security implications of course.

You need to find a way to get over yourself, and look at the bigger picture rather than this hyper focus on a few slices of cake or cheese as a desperate ploy to activate your hatred for Johnson/Brexit.
