I've just joined in order to report a video about one of my kids.

This is a dark and evil place that no teenager should be on.

What nasty little shits kids can be. Get your children off it, for their safety and mental health, and for that of others.

My kids aren't on it but I am seriously shocked as to how vile children are to each other. Please please stop your kids.

What do you mean a video of one of your kids? Is it by other kids that they know?

There are other video sharing platforms like Facebook and YouTube, and people can make videos about your kids on there as well so removing them off TikTok isnt going to help, you need to speak to their parent and get their internet access removed

Things aren't evil people are, its no different from the rest of the internet.

I've never seen so much bullying. I was on it for all of 10 mins.

And how does one do that when everything is anonymous? I'm thankful my kids aren't on it.

There is stuff on there that could push kids to commit suicide. And probably does.

My child isn't on it as he's 11, but his friends are. You'll find bullying on any social media platform, it's not just TikTok.

Tiktok is no worse than any other social media platform, there's no need to get so hysterical. Just exercise the usual risk assessments around the Internet and all will be well.

The internet can be such a wonderful thing but social media is not good for children. My 6 year old complains that her friends watch tiktok and she can't.

There's so much child unfriendly content on these things. You don't say how old your kids are but I think you're right not to let them on. I'll be keeping mine off for as long as possible.

Your kids will just access it in other ways

They won't 'stay off it' not when it's so popular. You've just pushed them into being secretive about it

I signed up over lockdown, saw mainly bouncy kids making up dances and everyone being diagnosed with adhd 🤷🏻‍♀️ . I don't think saw any bullying at all but the fyp does run on a tight algorithm so....

At worst it's a toxic, brain-washing cess-pit. My best friend is a secondary teacher in a failing school. On a daily basis, pupils film him on their phones and put it on TikTok with offensive, homophobic captions, etc. One called him a "nonce" although I believe there were consequences for that.

From what I've seen TikTok is definitely worse. It's a pretty nasty place. I took myself off it after seeing numerous videos about two young adults with learning disabilities local to me. Honestly, it was sickening, some adults involved but mostly young teens. It's really horrible. I've never seen it on the same level on any other social media platform.

My kids have TikTok, one makes video edits, they only add those they know and only watch videos of those they follow. I check regularly. Never had any issues at all.

God I hate it. The sheer number of people who just post their kids constantly.

Some woman called Maya Knight with twins and a few more who dress their little girls on it. Endless ones who 'family vlog'. I came across a page talk about CSAM and watched a few videos. The parents are all essentially aware their children are featured on these websites and just continue posting.

In addition to that the trends - the Lost by Frank Ocean sound played over how you'd murder your partner. The sheer cyber bullying of overweight people, different people, religious people, people with additional needs, teenagers etc. It's a toxic, hideous place.

So much bullying and abuse.

Was a child not murdered by her mother the other week and she carried on posting tiktoks of them both? Her account is yet to be taken down.

What are you all searching for to create such vile algorithms?

YANBU. My friend’s a child’s mental health nurse and she says TikTok is by far the most damaging out of all of the SM platforms for children and teens.

YANBU OP, I have a deep personal hate for TicTok. Never been on it myself but from what my EX H used to watch and find 'funny' I thought most of it was pretty disgusting. Some of it is just porn by another name. Never seen much bullying but not surprised it's bad.

It's awful, but tiktok isn't the only one. Dd's school has huge WhatsApp group chats going where kids are targeted with pictures and videos posted of them, hundreds of messages being sent day in day out. Dd removes herself and blocks them and a new one pops up. Same thing on snapchat. Some of the content is vile, dd is only in year 7.
