Aibu or is the buyer of my flat being a dick?

I’ll try to keep this as short as possible.

got an offer accepted on my flat early March, both myself and the buyer are chain free, there were some questions over the parking space and whether it was private or allocated, (it’s private and she’s been told this). So she keeps delaying saying she’s not happy with the documents proving so. So this has now dragged the process to 10 weeks (for two chain free people this is really long)
BUT it transpired today that she’s actually using the parking ‘issue’ as delay tactics as she is now selling her late mothers place and doesn’t want to exchange on my flat until her mothers place sells (it’s under offer) …..I feel like she’s taking the piss, her offer was accepted by me as she was a chain free buyer, now there’s a chain…god knows how long.

so do I give her the extra 8 weeks to get her mothers place sold (this costs me more mortgage fees and utilities) or just tell her that she’s changed the deal and that I’m re marketing my flat.

grrr so annoyed

Put your flat back on the market

Why? Confused

She's just sold it to a chain free person at £15k above what she was getting before.

Mrsmch123 · 04/07/2022 16:11

Put it back on the market and stick to your original price. Have faith it will sell👌

Mrsmch123 · 04/07/2022 16:13

opppssss just seen your update!glad you got it sold to a non dickish buyer🥳

Viviennemary · 04/07/2022 16:25

If you think you have a reasonable chance of finding another buyer then re-list. If not then think twice.

Niceeyes · 18/05/2022 19:58

@Herejustforthisone yep me too, she’s also paying £25k under my original offer so she’s getting a deal, I’m just worried that if I let her away with this that she will drop her offer on exchange day….just a feeling (only because I refused her 1st crap offer)

But The key is

was it overpriced in First place?
what percentage does this represent?
and we’re you bloom lucky to get any offer? Ie very limited interest and had been on for an age?

Twilight7777 · 04/07/2022 16:38

I second @Cherrysoup on this one. 2 weeks and then re list

DwightShrutesYFronts · 04/07/2022 16:38

ClocksGoingBackwards · 04/07/2022 16:35

Get it back on the market

Why would OP do that when she's sold it to someone else? 🤔

Ohthatsexciting · 04/07/2022 16:39

Niceeyes · 18/05/2022 20:04

@Useranon1 the original person offered full asking but had one pull out as they found some loser to work, the current buyer offered 25k less and I accepted as it had been on market around 11 weeks and I was nervous it wouldn’t sell….now look at me 😑

11 weeks???

if I were you I’d be holding on tight to your vendor. Because it looks like your property perhaps isn’t in demand for whatever reason. Or grossly overpriced

Update! If anyones interested 😂
after all your great advice I put my place back on the market (I was a bit stupid initially and gave g
her a 2 week exchange ultimatum which she ignored) but I now have a chain free cash buyer paying an extra £15k than the other woman who dicked me about…..god that was the most satisfying call to the old estate agents telling them I was going with someone else, thank you ALL

What progress has been made since you accepted the offer?

Frazzled2207 · 04/07/2022 16:51

Remarket
we were in a similar situation our buyer was supposedly chain free- really close to the wire it turned out that they weren’t. Had a go at the agent who IMO should have informed us as soon as it was apparent there was a change of plan - they couldn’t be less interested.

we could have pulled out of the sale but went ahead because we were also tied into a purchase and we really really did not want to mess them about. Eventually got sorted but took 6 months.

Frazzled2207 · 04/07/2022 16:53

Apols neglected to RTFT but great update!

Fingeronthebutton · 04/07/2022 16:54

Why can’t people be bothered to RTFT. 😡
