See you later people - the no paragraphs is the kick I needed!

Hiya all. Like many I spend far too much time on MN - and even pay £4.99 a month for premium. The replatform disaster, followed by the rubbish handling, plus the no paragraphs and increasingly bizarre deletions / moderating has given me the kick I need to take a hiatus.
Anyone else at the end of their tether?

When you have finished a 'paragraph' @EinsteinaGogo just press the 'enter' key (sometimes called the 'return' key,) on the right hand side of the keyboard, sort of in the middle... Have you tried that? Smile Press it when you finish a paragraph and then press it again. VOILA! Paragraphs! Grin

It's not working for some people

I wish they'd bring back going straight to unread posts from notifications. It's really annoying having to scroll through to get to where you were.

I miss today and the next/last button and put in number for pages. Not sure whether MN plan to fix it or not. If I forget to watch but remember I was at about 9 1,2 or 16,17 are just annoying so I don’t bother.

Thought it was just me this was happening to! It's very annoying and I may just leave soon too as feel close to the edge now! Good decision Op!

I don't have paragraphs. The end of posts with a quote in them gets cut off, often mid word. I can't watch any threads. My watched and threads you're on lists are empty. 😡
I can’t even post from the app anymore!

Not being able to view all the posts on one page is annoying me. And the search function is worse than ever. I was trying to find a review of a book yesterday and it wouldn't come up on the search. Had to trawl through 20 pages of a thread to find what I wanted.

@Stokey you can customise your Talk settings to see all posts in a thread here.

I see paragraphs, I have paragraphs.

The problem, I think, is that some people don't and that seems to be contingent on which operating system/device they are using.

My issue is the length of time it is taking to sort out the innumerable issues post brand new shiny update and the fact that many items listed on the special thread are still saying they will be sorted out ASAP and haven't been it's a very poor show.

Agree with this.

TBF new or old platform this is the only place that I ( and I recon many others ) can vent / get advice /have a laugh , while I know it is not perfect , but who of us is ? it helped me though some very dark times and given me some very solid and much appreciated advice.

Hi all - really sorry about these issues - here's a quick update on where we're up to and an outline of timings:

  • formatting issues in the app - we are releasing an update to the app - hopefully today - we are just awaiting approval from Apple
  • images posting sideways - fix should be released in next day or so
  • hitting back from Active not refreshing the page - should be released today
  • improvements to Search - eg better date filter - should be released in the next day or so
  • Advanced Search - likely to be back sometime next week, fingers crossed

Hi again @EinsteinaGogo, in case you haven't seen our thread in Site Stuff, just wanted to let you (and anyone else who's had issues with the iOS app, with paragraphs bunching and quoted posts cutting off) know that the latest version of the iOS app has been approved by the App Store and is available to download. All you need to do is go to the App Store and hit the Update button.

We're so sorry this has taken us a while to resolve but once you update the app, the site should look a lot better for you.
