See you later people - the no paragraphs is the kick I needed!

Hiya all. Like many I spend far too much time on MN - and even pay £4.99 a month for premium. The replatform disaster, followed by the rubbish handling, plus the no paragraphs and increasingly bizarre deletions / moderating has given me the kick I need to take a hiatus.
Anyone else at the end of their tether?

Hi @EinsteinaGogo we're sorry to hear you want to take a hiatus from us - we'd much prefer it if you stick around but we understand that you're v frustrated by the bugs since re-platforming. The things that were annoying you (and everyone else) are in the process of being fixed, btw, if that changes anything...😬

As for our moderation - if you think we've done something bizarre or have otherwise lost the plot, we'd encourage you to let us know.

As a general point, when you delete a thread for 'breaking our Talk Guidlines' it might be helpful to name the specific breach. I was on one this morning which got deleted, but I'm none the wiser as to why - it seemed an interesting and useful discussion to me.

Oh that shouldn't be the case - we'll make sure deletion messages are clear.

I've realised in the past few days that I'm repeating myself, yes!

I'll see where things are at wrt updating known issues. Right now, I can't be more definitive than ASAP but we'll get back to you on this.

'breaks talk guidelines" message has NEVER been explicit or explained.

This looks like a moderator error rather than an attempt to obfuscate. We avoid deleting threads with just that message because it's irritating for users.

Not being able to view all the posts on one page is annoying me. And the search function is worse than ever. I was trying to find a review of a book yesterday and it wouldn't come up on the search. Had to trawl through 20 pages of a thread to find what I wanted.

@Stokey you can customise your Talk settings to see all posts in a thread here.

Hi all - really sorry about these issues - here's a quick update on where we're up to and an outline of timings:

  • formatting issues in the app - we are releasing an update to the app - hopefully today - we are just awaiting approval from Apple
  • images posting sideways - fix should be released in next day or so
  • hitting back from Active not refreshing the page - should be released today
  • improvements to Search - eg better date filter - should be released in the next day or so
  • Advanced Search - likely to be back sometime next week, fingers crossed

Hi again @EinsteinaGogo, in case you haven't seen our thread in Site Stuff, just wanted to let you (and anyone else who's had issues with the iOS app, with paragraphs bunching and quoted posts cutting off) know that the latest version of the iOS app has been approved by the App Store and is available to download. All you need to do is go to the App Store and hit the Update button.

We're so sorry this has taken us a while to resolve but once you update the app, the site should look a lot better for you.
