One of them says the other one leaked some stories about her on Twitter and now the second one is suing the first one. Or something like that.

Yawn.

AIBU?

I'm sure that the QCs and those involved are just as baffled by it, but their motivation is primarily money I've no doubt and there is plenty of that about.
Rooney did try and apologize to her , but she is clearly only interested in a court case.
Which is really expensive! It is all just so sad.

LosingTheWill2022 · 14/05/2022 12:03

Starting thread on a subject in order to state you're not interested in the subject when nobody is telling you that you should be interested is hilarious 🤣

endofthelinefinally · 14/05/2022 12:06

Too much time and money. Not enough brains to do anything useful. When you consider what else has been going on in recent weeks, I am sick of hearing about this ridiculous squabble.

guinnessguzzler · 14/05/2022 12:09

Yes, it's a huge amount of money that could be better spent elsehow. But how many men piss away their money on drugs, alcohol, yachts, houses, cars, whatever? I don't think anyone should have this much money to throw around but is this really any worse than how many rich people spend, or worse, hoard, their money? Colleen was right. It was Rebekah Vardy's account, and she should have been allowed to state that without being done for libel. Intrusion into your private life comes with the territory to an extent but she was trying to protect what little privacy she had and I don't blame her for standing up to Vardy on this.

Badger1970 · 14/05/2022 12:13

I'm completely perplexed how Colleen lets Wayne get away with his cheating time and time again, but has the energy to chase after someone she thinks has done her wrong by selling a story. She's been on the front pages time and time again thanks to Wayne, and to be honest looks a bit of a door mat who puts up with it for status and lifestyle.

I honestly don't think any of them are coming out of this covered in glory apart from the lawyers.

Coastalcreeksider · 14/05/2022 12:13

I'm pretty sure the people most enjoying this ridiculous spectacle are the legal firms representing the awful pair.

They must be laughing hysterically all the way to the banks. 🙄

Ah, come on, some of it is hilarious, like the QC saying Caroline Watt’s phone was ‘in Davy Jones’ locker’ and Rebekah Vardy asking who Davy Jones was.

I loved that bit!

I think the whole Vardy v Rooney saga is just the relief we all need from the other ‘doom and gloom’ news.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 14/05/2022 12:27

I think it's unfair to lump them together. This is all down to Vardy and she's coming out of it looking awful. Never good to wash your dirty laundry in public and she seems to have dirtier drawers than average.

jammyrose · 14/05/2022 12:34

No, I’ve only seen the thread titles but don’t know what’s going on.
Neither ‘side’ is unreasonable though, different strokes and all that. Anyone who’s interested can crack on and those who aren’t can do something else!

worriedatthistime · 14/05/2022 12:35

Yet enough to start a thread it seems

Yes. I also have to confess that Marina Hyde in the Guardian referring to the whole thing as "Wagnarok" made me laugh. A lot.

It's "bread and circuses" I think, we're all a bit worse off in the bread stakes currently but this is most definitely a circus.

Fizbosshoes · 14/05/2022 12:50

I haven't seen much about it but take aways are -
Surprised Wayne Rooney looks much older than me (I'm in my early 40s)

What has Collen done to her foot?

Not bothered about any of the other stuff!

DH says its so silly and a waste of time he hopes they are both bankrupt at the end!😮

Redshoeblueshoe · 14/05/2022 12:51

I put YABU - because some of the comments on Twitter are absolutely hilarious.
one of my favourites was
'I didn't believe Rebecca Vardy didn't know who Davy Jones is
Then I saw her face'

the80sweregreat · 14/05/2022 12:52

Apparently Coleen Rooney had a fall at home and injured her foot.

Georgeskitchen · 14/05/2022 12:54

Some of the reporting in the daily newspapers are absolutely hilarious. Real laugh out loud stuff. Someone could write a comedy about it

the80sweregreat · 14/05/2022 12:56

I guarantee that a tv drama will be made about this next year once it's resolved.
Probs have to change the names or something but I bet they do something.

I really, really wanted Vardy to misunderstand the reference and think it was the lead singer of The Monkees and carry on talking about it in that vein.

QC: And the phone is now in Davy Jones's locker!'

RV: Is it? <Goes pale> Caroline told me she'd dropped it in the sea, the careless cow. <Hopefully> It'll be all broken though won't it?

QC: <Frowns> One would imagine so, yeeees.

RV: Anyway, isn't he dead?

QC: <peers over glasses> I beg your pardon?

RV: I saw it on Twitter that he'd died. How did he get hold of her phone?

QC: Who?

RV: Davy Jones. I knew he was a believer but I didn't realise he was a fucking magician.

RollOnWinter · 14/05/2022 13:04

I couldn't give a toss about their lives. The same for Katie bloody Price, Jessica whatserface (Human Ken doll person), The Beckhams, and all the other "celebrities".

TriStateArea · 14/05/2022 13:05

Absolutely. Or the car crash of Johnny Depp/Amber Heard that YouTube seems to think I might want to follow in detail because I’ve watched a movie trailer before…

DonAlfonso · 14/05/2022 13:09

I had no interest and didn’t really know who RV was UNTIL I started reading reports of what was going on in court, at which point I realised that it was the funniest thing to happen yet this century. Honestly, it’s like a piece of performance art satirising celeb culture. I can’t get enough.

Cryingintherain99 · 14/05/2022 13:11

First I heard of it was yesterday on the news on the radio in the dentist's waiting room.
I must live in my own little bubble.

the80sweregreat · 14/05/2022 13:29

The daily mail are all over it , from what they are wearing every day to court to how the judge didn't know what ' ffs' meant to the Davy Jones reference etc. lots of opinions on it too.
Colleen Rooney has admitted that her marriage was on the rocks for a while ( not a surprise really !) He has humiliated her in the past too.
It was clever setting up a trap for Vardy via social media so only Rebekah could access it , but papers have form in the past for phone hacking or tracking down ' sources' for gossip too. It is a very woven web all round

airrrrAIRRRRiELLLL · 14/05/2022 13:33

Have read up on it this morning. As a PP said, it's a bit of light relief (for us) in amongst the rest of the gloomy news. I like Colleen's sting operation, must be so frustrating thinking you are surrounded by 'friends' and you're not.
Wayne looks a lot older than 36!

JenniferBarkley · 14/05/2022 13:34

Thanks OP, without this thread I wouldn't have known what a sophisticated intellectual you are.

Not specifically referring to this thread, but I've seen lots of comments in general saying they should go home and hug their children and donate the fees to charity instead, or that their husbands should knock some sense into them.

I think that's pure misogyny. Women know your place, at home and in the gossip mags, not in the courts. They are entitled to use the court system. Rooney was quite clever really in exposing Vardy. If I believed someone had defamed my good name and the only way to clear it was to sue, and I had the time and money to do so, then I absolutely would. In this case I think Vardy is insane and only doing herself more harm but it's her right to take the case.

Men take frivolous law suits all the time and people never tell them to go home and hug their children instead.

Kaftankween · 14/05/2022 13:37

@Florenz - two pointless women? How charmless and misogynistic.
