To think Labour are hypocrites

Beergate. Turns out the event was planned. To think of all the slating Starmer gave Johnson. 🤔 This site's favourite newspaper, the Dailymail, has released a leaked memo, which might mark Starmer's downfall. If Johnson could survive, can Starmer?

Fucking hell. This is disgusting. Really disgustinG

i don’t feel like I can trust anything in this country anymore, so eroded are standards of behaviour.

don’t trust the police atall.

Basketet · 08/05/2022 09:35

Labour are not an opposition party, which is why won't vote for them. I'm not sure what they stand for?? That, and they can't even say what a women is and is not.

What do you mean they're not an Opposition Party? That's exactly what they are whether you like them or not.

Piggywaspushed · 08/05/2022 14:42

I mean, is this how low the bar is got, that MN posters are not horrified about posts that speak approvingly of lynchings and just say 'report it if you want to' (because they know they can say it in the first place) 'if it stands out'. MNHQ really needs to sort this type of thing out. That's what is disgusting.

MarshaBradyo · 08/05/2022 14:44

Piggywaspushed · 08/05/2022 14:37

Did it not stick out to you Marsha? Really?

It’s not something I like seeing on here and I should have just quoted in bold the part I agreed with

but tbh I find this new site harder for accessibility and rush more and not sure I clocked it entirely.

Generally I do care about increase in abuse re MPs and have said that before. But mostly I’d rather leave it between you and poster who posted it, it seems to be deleted now anyway.

Piggywaspushed · 08/05/2022 14:45

The new site sure is unwieldy.

newnamethanks · 08/05/2022 14:47

Democracy or Hypocrisy, what's your choice? If you can't recognise a smear campaign designed to spread unease and suspicion by parroting a series on 'what if's?' and 'look over there, not over here' then that's unfortunate, especially when it's designed to cause doubts among voters just before an election. If there's a valid cause for concern, Starmer will resign. The unprincipled current tenant in No 10 will remain until prised out. And he will 'have done nothing wrong ' as usual.

Piggywaspushed · 08/05/2022 14:48

And who do we think these students were who so innocently happened to be filming through a window? Clue : not Labour activists, and not mainstream Tories either. Look to the anti restrictions/ anti mitigations/libertarian bunch and you will find your answer.

Mumwantingtogetitright · 08/05/2022 09:58

I would love to see Yvette Cooper take the reins. I have a lot of respect for her.

I voted for her in the Corbyn election. She won't get in though, it's too late. And why would she when get so many death threats. I wonder about Wes Streeting. But I'm afraid it may be Rayner & then all the Corbynites will be back.

noblegiraffe · 08/05/2022 14:52

Wes Streeting would be good. If the Labour party have any sense they won't go for Rayner. It's maybe a good sign that they voted in Starmer over some less sensible candidates so maybe they do actually want to win an election?

howtomoveforwards · 08/05/2022 14:53

If he resigns then frankly, I would have a lot more respect for him than Boris. If he stays in office then there’s no moral high ground to be had and as someone living in a swing constituency, I will be wasting my vote next election by voting Lib Dem or Green rather than voting for Labour as a means to oust the Tories.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 08/05/2022 14:54

Blimey I knew that rules were strict in the UK but I didn't realise that planning to eat was against the law. How did you all manage?

Honestly I’m very mild when it comes to this stuff, if you see previous posts I do care about it a lot - I just have to dip in and out more when posting now as bad for the eyes

ColMustardInTheLibrary · 08/05/2022 10:04

Keir Starmer is a rank hypocrite and a proven liar who wasted days of parliamentary time knowing he was equally guilty and whose party deliberately lied about Angela Rayner’s presence. I really wish the Labour candidate who spent his whole visit to my doorstep banging on about Boris’s criminal behaviour, while failing to explain any Labour policies, would re-visit so I could tell him what I think of his party’s own lies. Damned hypocrites.

He's not a proven liar. Innocent until proven guilty. We all know a proven liar at the heart of Westminster.

rainingsnoring · 08/05/2022 15:01

This by @PoppyFleur. Excellent post.

'The right wing media agenda is nothing short of brilliant. We are fed a daily diet of cakegate and partygate. This brilliant diversionary tactic keeps us preoccupied and bickering amongst ourselves.

It keeps us too preoccupied to notice farmers talking about produce rotting in fields due to lack of agricultural labour.

Too busy to notice the ambulance queues at A&E, the thousands of open job vacancies for clinical staff. The thousands of vacancies for care workers.

We are too busy to consider the cost of living crisis, with food, utilities and clothing all rising.

Too busy to notice the lorry queues at ports.
Too busy to care about the huge amount of debt accrued in the last few years, the billions wasted on a failed track and trace system and faulty PPE. On covid business loans to companies set up just weeks after the scheme launched.

Too busy to notice the dwindling numbers of police, the attacks on the CPS and the very fabric of democracy with bills passed in the Lords shackling our right to protest.

If history has taught us anything it’s that propaganda works.

Do we really no longer care about ourselves, our families, our communities, our country?

When the only thing that matters is that your side is beating the other side - regardless of policies, governance or morality- then all is lost'

Most people lap up what is fed to them again and again as the truth. Both parties are encouraging the party gate stories to run and run for their own ends. Even the awful situation in Ukraine is being used by the Tories to distract from all these very serious domestic issues above. They are certainly not interested in helping either the Ukrainians nor their own population.

Zilla1 · 08/05/2022 10:35

Utter hypocrisy which is worse that the offence. Don't let those Labour scallywags try and weasel out of it by arguing about lying to Parliament and suitcases of booze and other distracting tactics. Fortunately there is at least one honest, campaigning newspaper devoted to ferreting out the truth about Labour misdeeds and letting the PM focus on important things like Ukraine and providing money-saving shopping advice to hard-pressed families unlike that unrealistic Labour airy fairy talk about tax cuts, windfall taxes and such like. You can tell they're in trouble as they can't even make their mind up about whether to cut taxes to people or add more to the tax burden on companies who are like people anyway. And Keir should now better, if an ex-DPP doesn't know what's legal and what isn't then how can a PM who works all hours?

I bet I know how you voted

luckylavender · 08/05/2022 15:03

lioncitygirl · 08/05/2022 10:44

Poor KS - should have thought twice about being sanctimonious I guess. He’ll have to go when they fine him. People in glass houses eh. 😊 - I actually thought KS was smarter than that. Apparently not.

How do you know they'll fine him?

Siht · 08/05/2022 15:06

I think he will have to resign if he is fined, which is a shame. Boris has embarrassed himself by clinging to his leadership and it (quite rightly) destroyed the Tories in the local elections. If Starmer is fined, I'd say a new leader gives the best chance of annihilating the Tories at the next general election.

Splitting hairs. There is no difference between contravention of lockdown rules, from either party. Taking aside that Tories d

Didn't finish my post. Taking aside that the Tories contravened the rules more often, whataboutery is a cop out. Its normally used to justify one's own bias. Ultimately, Labour are just as 'guilty' of backing rules, which they aren't prepared to follow.

OP posts:
spaceman1 · 08/05/2022 15:24

Boris has always been a lovable but bumbling rogue, everyone knew that when they voted for him at the General Election, Partygate therefore shouldn't have surprised anyone. In contrast, Starmer, the only credible leader in the Labour Party, has always taken the most sanctimonious, whiter than white position, that is the difference and why he would have to resign if found guilty of breaking the law.

newnamethanks · 08/05/2022 15:33

I hope you didn't bother to finish your post on my account. I am biased. Biased against the unprincipled, lying, grasping chancer who has ensconced himself in No 10, established his own court of nodding-dog, yes-men around him and has spread corruption throughout the seat of government. I will remain biased even if he crawls naked to Santiago de Compostela, covered in ashes, begging forgiveness all the way. He is an utter disgrace. And even if KS was to be spotted with a bag marked Swag, having looted the Bank of England, he'd still be a more honest person and a more suitable Prime Minister.

Maybe try keeping emotion out of politics? Meant to say, your whataboutery 'argument' is even less credible, given that Boris has already had his fine. I know it doesn't suit you, but your hero fucked up.

Fine in the singular? Well we'll see.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 08/05/2022 15:47

One great example of failure of rights/responsibility is the NHS. We certainly wouldn't have an NHS crisis if people didn't abuse alcohol, cigarettes and shovel cake down their throats. The "right" to healthcare certainly isn't being matched by individual responsibility. I think society as a whole needs to have a serious think about how things are run.

Absolutely, it has nothing to do with the constant underfunding every time a Tory government is in [clown]

Blossomtoes · 08/05/2022 15:47

luckylavender · 08/05/2022 08:44

I'm not sure. If he has been found to be breaking the rules then I'll be disappointed & he'll have to go. But it was a very different time in the pandemic from the Downing Street transgressions & I'm not sure he has. He is guilty of handling it badly. Whatever happens it's not on the scale of what happened in the No 10 'inner circle' & the Right Wing Press launched a targeted attack to coincide with the Local Elections. It's been shameless & relentless.

This. I hope Starmer resigns if he gets a fine because where does that leave Johnson? This move on the Tories’ part could easily end up being the biggest own goal of all time. That doesn’t even seem to have occurred to them.
