For a couple of quid?
I think it's pretty good and don't understand why people hate it so much. Enlighten me!

I like it too. Handwash £1.50 with Tesco Clubcard at the mo - bargain.

PAFMO · 07/05/2022 22:08

They don't in real life.
It's only MN snobbery.

SoftSheen · 07/05/2022 22:15

I think it's quite nice.

The snobbery comes from the fact that Bayliss and Harding make average-quality (though perfectly fine) hand wash, then package it in a way which appears to copy rather expensive Molton Brown products.

Forestdweller11 · 07/05/2022 22:16

I like it . It's the only hand soap that doesn't dry my hands out and make me itch!

Lindy2 · 07/05/2022 22:20

It's only on mumsnet that people don't like it. In real life it's fine.

I bought a lovely orange scented handwash today. The lime and ginger handwash is also very nice.

At the end of the day it's soap. I really can't get worked up about any brand of soap or soap trends. If it smells nice, does the job and isn't overpriced then I'm happy. Bayliss and Harding tick those boxes in my opinion.

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 07/05/2022 22:21

I like their neroli and green tea handwash.

HailAdrian · 07/05/2022 22:22

Nothing wrong with it, I just don't want a gift set.

AppleKatie · 07/05/2022 22:27

It’s nice, it’s cheap, smells nice, you can get loads of diff ones so I don’t get bored and it doesn’t dry the hands.

That said it isn’t a gift it’s something you buy in Tesco for £1 with the weekly shop.

This.

I buy B & H for myself but want MB as a gift 😊

Boiledbeetle · 07/05/2022 22:36

I hate it and on the few occasions that i have gone against my better judgement and decided to try an item out of the over packaged gift from Aunt Edna I find I then spend the next few hours coming up in lumps whilst scratching wildly.

I'll just stick to nivea shower gel at a quid a bottle

almondbran · 07/05/2022 22:39

People hate it cos it’s given as a fancy gift when really it’s the shit end of the cheap stuff

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 07/05/2022 22:39

I like it and don't see how them knocking off Molton Brown (which I also like but only when I'm feeling very flush!) is any different to all the products in Aldi.

MNers love Aldi so not sure why the hate for bayliss and Harding, unless it's been given as a gift then I understand.

HeddaGarbled · 07/05/2022 22:41

The shower gel is poor quality. Comes out of the bottle in big gloops but barely lathers at all.

TokyoSushi · 07/05/2022 22:41

Agree, I don't want it as a gift, but I don't mind the handwash in my bathroom!

HerRoyalHappiness · 07/05/2022 22:44

See I can't get worked up over it, even if I got it as a gift I wouldn't mind. I'd just be grateful someone had thought of me.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 07/05/2022 22:47

I got a gift set of liquid soap and hand cream - I thought it was lovely.

BestDove · 07/05/2022 22:50

I like Carex (cheap) and I like Molton Brown (expensive)

But I don't like B&H, as it's pretending to be fancy. I always receive it at Christmas and birthdays though, so I give it to either the school raffle or to the charity shop if I'm doing a clothes drop off too.

Hugasauras · 07/05/2022 22:51

I always get a gift set of B&H for Xmas from my dad's girlfriend and it keeps our downstairs bathroom stocked with handwash! No complaints here!

Ellmau · 07/05/2022 22:51

It's fine, I use it myself. But as PP have said, I'd be pretty disappointed with it as a present.

Rainingoflamp · 07/05/2022 22:58

Correct. They sell it in bog standard supermarkets etc and if someone bought it for me as a present I’d think they hadn’t made much effort.

malificent7 · 07/05/2022 22:59

I like it as a gift...i always give it too. Can't see how ot's pretending to be fancy.

Molton Brown is ok but not worth the price tag imo.

ICannotRememberAThing · 07/05/2022 23:00

People love expensive brands don't they? This made me laugh... (sorry about the DM link - it's the only place I could find the video)

Christmas6574347 · 07/05/2022 23:02

Bayliss and Harding make perfectly acceptable soaps and stuff like that. There is a weird snobbery with some people thinking Molton Brown is actually better because of marketing/packaging/price. (I’ve only actually seen it on MN, which is strangely snobby about somewhat inconsequential things.) It reflects so much on the psychology of marketing.

Like what you like, don’t let others’ brand obsessions mess with your own choices.

DolphinaPD · 07/05/2022 23:07

I would die laughing if it turned out its the same stuff in both bottles 😂

Hugasauras · 07/05/2022 23:12

Can't say I really ever notice the difference when I'm washing my hands after a shite.
