For a couple of quid?
I think it's pretty good and don't understand why people hate it so much. Enlighten me!

I like it but it's not a gift. It's too try hard. It's just handwash like dove or carex and I wouldn't give anyone a bottle of carex for Christmas.

onemouseplace · 08/05/2022 11:56

I don't mind it and get the handwash as it's the nicest option at that price point.

longtompot · 08/05/2022 11:57

I really loved their lavender hand wash but they only seem to do the one with chamomile in it. It's nice, but I loved the strong lavender scent for the kitchen. I do like their mandarin and grapefruit one and my dd loved the jojoba, vanilla and almond one

Fairislefandango · 08/05/2022 12:01

If you're buying it expecting it to be normal, perfectly pleasant handwash then YANBU, it's fine. If you're buying it and somehow expecting it to be as nice as more luxury brands like Molton Brown due to the packaging style, well it's not. But that's not surprising, given the difference in price (not that Molton Brown is really worth the price imo).

Staynow · 08/05/2022 12:07

They had Molten Brown when we stayed at Rick Steins, I didn't like it at all, I thought the smell was far too strong and not very nice. We've bought B and H handwash a few times and i thought it was fine, there's certainly a lot worse smelling stuff out there (looking at you over rated MB). I mean I couldn't get excited about it but I think it's just fine as a handwash - definitely not present worthy though.

The shower gel is poor quality. Comes out of the bottle in big gloops but barely lathers at all.

Weird when you realise that the main ingredients are the same as Molton Brown which MNers seem to love

Well then clearly there's something different in the formula as it acts very differently.

GuyFawkesDay · 08/05/2022 21:17

Makes 3)4 of us itchy and dry handed so it's a bnooe from me but that's the only reason. We have scratchy skin here so I learned to make my own soap and all skin issues solved, and I get to make it smell like WE like.

Lavender and peppermint or lemon is always a nice fresh mix

dumdumduuuummmmm · 08/05/2022 21:18

I'm not a fan of B&H but I'm not a fan of MB either. I think it's cheap detergent with strong fragrance which messes with my actual perfumes. The packaging is cheap and nasty too. I don't get the appeal. In what world is a cheap plastic bottle with a plastic pump elegant?

mycatisannoying · 08/05/2022 21:18

Nowt wrong with it at all, as an everyday toiletry item. But as far as gifts go, it's a bit unimpressive and uninspired.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 08/05/2022 22:14

Anyone who buys me soap for Christmas (of any brand) is out of the will. 😂

Germolenequeen · 08/05/2022 22:26

I like it better than Molton Brown - but then people who are snobby about stuff are "too try hard" IMO 🤷‍♀️

TabithaTittlemouse · 08/05/2022 22:40

I don’t like babylis and harding or molton brown, they are both awful.

I prefer l’occitane. Much nicer on my skin.

CorsicaDreaming · 09/05/2022 03:48

I prefer these

chateaudusavon.com/products/copy-of-provendi-rotating-wall-soap-holder-lemon-soap-gift-set-combo-in-chrome-finish

The soap is lovely and seems to last forever, and saves buying endless plastic bottles to go into landfill.

Or you can just get it on a rope for the shower.

Growingoldgracefully · 23/12/2025 00:52

It definately isnt the same stuff. Bayliss and Harding is like buying a 5 litre bottle of the cheapest emollient or soap for £1 adding nasty chemicals to make it smell okish and selling it for £40 in pimped up packaging as a luxury gift set. Allergy rating is high I come out in a lumpy rash everytime I use it.

Growingoldgracefully · 23/12/2025 00:57

Nasty cheap chemicals added to give products a horrible sickly smell. Caused lumps and bumps on my skimn after using and lies on the skin and takes ages to absorb, leaves a tacky sticky feel to the skin and a watery texture. Nasty stuff. Insulting to give as a present but ok if you like it for everyday use from poundland etc.

MedlarJelly · 23/12/2025 01:03

I don't mind it. I did find it funny on Gogglebox when Meghan Sussex was wrapping a gift and Sophie said it was a Baylis and Harding set for Camilla.

Christmas6574347 · 23/12/2025 09:34

Controversially, I think it’s just as nice as Milton brown which is over priced for a similar product.
