We chose the stone and designed it together on a day out to the Birmingham jewellery quarter. It was a lovely day out and one of the most exciting and romantic things we’ve ever done- we hadn’t told anyone yet so it was super special!

have now added a plain gold wedding band as we decided it looked better to just leave the diamond standing out and I love it as I think that is super unusual these days to have a halo with no diamond shoulders. Never seen anything like it before.

Some ad hoc advice for buying - think about the cut - princess, round etc they won't all look good on your hand.

Second think about your lifestyle e.g what you do for work - big rings can snag and catch on things. They can also get annoying to wear.

Then think about your wedding band, because you're going to have to pair the two up when it comes to it.

And do some googling of 'engagement rings through the decades' - it will give you some inspiration and help you think about whether you want your engagement to be a classic or on trend.

And of course, look at your C's! Clarity, cut etc

My original engagement ring broke so we replaced it with a peridot as its our sons birthstone

The other ring is my eternity ring, I dont have a wedding band because even though we got engaged 12 years ago we have no plans to get married anytime soon 🤣

This is outing but here’s mine it’s nothing fancy just CZ ring and then our wedding rings are titanium and sapphire’s I also have a full eternity ring in the middle. I love my rings.

This is mine. Bought from my favourite jeweller in Harrogate (Sarahann's). She's amazing. This was my 20 year upgrade on the solitaire which despite being an internally flawless ascher cut diamond I didn't really like.

My beauties which were chosen by my husband and sadly no longer fit me.

I don't have either. Instead, DH gave me a beautiful piece of amber to wear as a pendant. Amber is very special to us. That's what happens when you marry someone who's worked in the South African mines and knows all about the industry. Not a romantic industry, that's for sure. Whereas, Amber is very special to us - it was once alive, contains the remains of ancient creatures, was so important to our ancestors, was traded on the Amber Road. Bit of a bugger being married to an archaeologist manquée.

Here's mine! I haven't been able to wear it since last year due to pregnancy sadly. DP bought the diamond first when the prices were decent then had it set. He'd occasionally fished for info on what I would like and all I gave him was very simple, not white gold or platinum, solitaire and not big or expensive. Think he did well!
