My beauties, which are unfortunately not matched by the state of my knuckles which look really swollen. They've been that way ever since I gave birth, for no reason I can see, and never went back to normal!

All platinum and brilliant cut diamonds. The engagement band has a lovely crossover seeing.

I do have a soft spot for an emerald too: there are some lovely ones pictured above.

Here is mine, we had to get wedding band made to fit the engagement ring.

This is mine! He designed it with the jeweller and managed to create something better than anything I’d ever seen. I’m very soppy about my ring.

This is mine, well, sort of. We couldn’t actually afford an engagement ring at the time, so DH bought me this for Christmas a few years later. I love it, though initially thought it was a bit garish! Suffragette inspired ring though so what’s not to love?!

Have you thought about checking out the jewellery section of antique auctions? I have seen some absolutely beautiful rings come up for auction and they often sell at a very reasonable price. It isn't a choice for everyone - some people don't like the idea of a preloved engagement ring - but I have often thought that if I ever needed a special ring of some kind then that is what I would do.

Ah its not a ruby, looks similar though under the flash and lighting, it's a Mexican fire opal.

In normal daylight it's a vibrant orange with flashes of yellow, amber's and red.
