Just that

Everything seems to have increased in price. The one I know for certain is Douwe Egberts dark instant coffee. It used to be a £4.50 in lockdown, went up to £5 beginning of the year and now it's £6. Only instant coffee I like and I appreciate it is not a necessity but it's a very high increase. I'm probably paying for the jar but I tried every single instant coffee, including Egberts other types and I don't like any of them.
I haven't worked out if pods or ground coffee has gone up yet, I always forget to check.

As an aside, I expect there will be less choices and most the artisan type tea, food, bread, coffee, cider. Chocolate etc will disappear.

A tiny leg of lamb in Tesco this afternoon was £17!!! And a whole chicken was £14!!! I bought a large joint of pork instead for £6.90. The pork hasn’t gone up in price for ages but all other joints of meat are no longer affordable.

userxx · 06/05/2022 22:10

Char Sui chowmein from my local takeaway, was £6.70 now £9.50. No more Chinese food for me 😞

Glorieta · 06/05/2022 22:10

Like a pp mentioned pepsi max
Usually 1.80 for 2litre bottle
Often on special 1.60
Now 2.10

Drank a lot in the past (my only vice/addiction) but gone cold turkey as of today as I'm not willing to pay that.

It's not surprising, the Government effectively printed £400 billion for Covid measures. If you inject £400 billion into the economy over two years you're going to get inflation.

They do not need to increase prices, they are just taking advantage of the current climate.

An apt comment that shows how someone doesn't understand the concept of inflation and portray the alternative in a simplistic way of just profits.

Oh go on.. explain it to me. You've clearly got some time on your hands too.

AdoraBell · 06/05/2022 22:17

Pasta
Vegetable oil
Coffee
Petrol
just about everything I buy, I’m so stressed I can’t think of other things.

Sh05 · 06/05/2022 22:17

Anchor butter up from £1.75 to £2.10
Bread up from 49 to 55p
Walkers crisps 3 multipacks for 3.50 now 2 for £3
Loads of things actually. Some just a few pennies others quite a lot like pasta, even the stores smart price range has gone up significantly.our fish and chips are still the same price but burgers are nearly £2 more expensive each.

FatOaf · 06/05/2022 22:21

My window cleaner, it would appear that a bucket of water has gone up by 20%

His national insurance contributions have gone up. The cost of heating his home and feeding & clothing his children has gone up. Why do you assume your window-cleaner has no living expenses and only has to be paid for the price of his bucket of water?

Chatwin · 06/05/2022 22:28

Feels like everything!

Heating oil (3×) and electricity (also 3x). We are living in the cold and dark...

Definitely food, also Sky telly, Internet, public transport, holidays, mobiles, building/DIY material. Only grateful we are on a fixed rate mortgage and car/household insurance seems to have stayed the same.

Sky. Our bill went up by £39 and when they called the best they could do was an increase of 'just' £10 but we had to give up movies and kids shows. I wanted to get rid of sky entirely but my DH is a big F1 fan. It just makes me angry that companies like sky are making increased profits... billions. They do not need to increase prices, they are just taking advantage of the current climate.

Why not get now tv, it’s sky, doesn’t that work out cheaper ?
Sky Sports currently £20 a month for a 3 month trial (£33 per month after that) and you can cancel any time, and restart.
TV options are cheaper

SpringSunshine09 · 06/05/2022 22:35

Will look into that, thank you!

Strawberry0909 · 06/05/2022 22:41

Chicken feed from £8.50 to £10.45! They better keep laying

Manzana · 06/05/2022 22:43

since February this year, 6 pints of milk gone up 20p, kenco coffee 200g, increased by £1.

i was going to grab some fish fingers for the kids in Iceland, £7 for 2 packs! I've never seen fish fingers for that before!

noworklifebalance · 06/05/2022 22:58

Everything but my salary

Wineat5isfine · 06/05/2022 23:05

Absolutely bloody everything. Except salaries….

earsup · 06/05/2022 23:13

Some things no increase....am vegeterian...only odd few pence extra on celery...everything else same price still and Asda has been having lots of packs for 20p....carrots, parsnips etc...poundland still have the choc bars for a quid...Have noticed that the multi packs and bigger sizes are not the best value always...tuna and sugar were cheaper if bought indvidually or 2 small packs etc....crisps have gone up a lot....no sunflower or vegetable oil here for weeks now....Lidl often sold out of my fav crisps at 79P....as it the fresh coffee i like...only more expensive on shelf...

1dayatatime · 06/05/2022 23:19

@SpringSunshine09

This is a pretty good explanation on the causes of the global rise in inflation:

Coffee out by at least 30%.

I shop in Tesco, and have never seen a chicken go for £14, or anywhere near that.

mrsmacmc · 06/05/2022 23:23

£15.50 for 2 fish suppers tonight. I was shocked 😳
