How much would you expect this meal to cost?

I'm not sure if I'm a bit unrealistic with my expectation here so I thought I'd see what wise Mumsnetters think!

We had a meal out at popular chain Italian restaurant. We ordered:

4 x main meals (3 x pizzas and 1 x pasta dish)
1 x meal from child menu (pasta dish)
4 x soft drinks (3 x Coca Cola, 1 x Sprite)

No starters, no desserts, no alcoholic drinks.

What would you roughly expect the total of the bill to be? (Not London if that makes a difference?!)

Without vouchers somewhere between £70-£100.
Mains being around £15, drinks about £5 plus one child.
I always look for vouchers for places like Prezzo/Zizzi, they're pretty overpriced otherwise.

Dementedswan · 05/05/2022 22:59

Around £60

onepieceoflollipop · 05/05/2022 23:00

About 80 if it was pizza express or Zizzi - based on 15 approx per main meal

70 if Pizza Hut…

Harridan1981 · 05/05/2022 23:00

Oh just seen kids meal, probably £70 total.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 05/05/2022 23:00

It should be £64. But I expect you are going to say it was more like £80.

Mano2020 · 05/05/2022 23:00

£73 excluding service charge

BuanoKubiamVej · 05/05/2022 23:00

I would guess £12 for the adult mains, £9 for the child's, and £3 each for the soft drinks so around £69. £76 if it's their policy to add a 10% service charge to the bill.

LubaLuca · 05/05/2022 23:01

We're not going to have to wait for someone to get it on the nose are we? How much was it?

NoNadaNeinNope · 05/05/2022 23:01

I agree, around about £60.

SpringHasSprungGrassIsRiz · 05/05/2022 23:01

I'd budget £15 a head for a main and soft drink, and say £6/8 for a kids menu meal.

So just under £70ish

GroggyLegs · 05/05/2022 23:01

£65

3x £15 for mains
£8 child
4x £3 drinks

SageCardy · 05/05/2022 23:01

I think about £80 ish, if the pizzas were the rustic fancy ones

doggiescats · 05/05/2022 23:01

About £60

Hbh17 · 05/05/2022 23:02

Presumably the total bill included a 12.5% service charge?

toastofthetown · 05/05/2022 23:03

Pizza and pasta £12-15 each, children’s meal £7-8ish, soft drinks £2.50-3 each. So £65-80 depending on what was ordered. Plus a 10% tip.

Sofielou · 05/05/2022 23:03

Wow quite a bit of variation already!

So I was expecting closer to £60 ... it was £75. Each main was £14 ish, child meal £7 and drinks £3 each. I think prices have definitely gone up a lot as I'm sure we wouldn't have paid this much on past occasions. Just took me by surprise a little!

About £75-80

Starseeking · 05/05/2022 23:03

4 mains = £15 each = £60
1 child's meal = £5
4 soft drinks = £10

Total 🟰 £75

HeadacheEarthquake · 05/05/2022 23:04

About 90?

NeedMoMoney · 05/05/2022 23:04

I would say around £70ish

So how much was it then???

Cross post! Wink

NoSquirrels · 05/05/2022 23:04

£75-80

Based on
£14 x4 main meals
£6 kids meal
£3 x3 drinks

That’s why we try never to eat as a family at that sort of place. It’s not worth it to us. I’d rather spend a bit more on something I couldn’t cook at home, or much less on fast food.

DolphinaPD · 05/05/2022 23:04

I'd expect 55-60, and still feel overcharged.

Louise0701 · 05/05/2022 23:05

£80-90

Ah, x-post! Glad to see was pretty bang on.
£14 for mediocre pizza or pasta is just not good bang for buck.
