How much would you expect this meal to cost?

I'm not sure if I'm a bit unrealistic with my expectation here so I thought I'd see what wise Mumsnetters think!

We had a meal out at popular chain Italian restaurant. We ordered:

4 x main meals (3 x pizzas and 1 x pasta dish)
1 x meal from child menu (pasta dish)
4 x soft drinks (3 x Coca Cola, 1 x Sprite)

No starters, no desserts, no alcoholic drinks.

What would you roughly expect the total of the bill to be? (Not London if that makes a difference?!)

Why are people still guessing when OP has already said what the cost was?

Over and over again Confused
I mean, in a long thread that you don't want to read all posts, surely you would read the OP's posts.

It isn’t difficult to do that, is it!

@Bushgirl

Why wouldn't you do what? Look at the price of every single item on the menu as you are looking for what you want to order? Erm, mostly because I'm not interested in every single item, so why do I need to know? Also because I've got better things to do? Confused

Because you were paying for it and surprised at what it cost!

You don’t need to do some complicated memory test. You just glance down the prices, see mains generally cost £13-15, add a few quid for a soft drink and a bit less for a kids meal.

It’s not difficult. It’s what reasonable people do reasonably frequently so they’re not caught out at how much things are.

1 million lire in old money which I think is about £75.

MamaBearBoo · 09/05/2022 10:19

£100

SpottedTailQuoll · 11/05/2022 22:48

$94 (Australian) = £53. Crikey!

I would always know the price, it is just there when you read the menu, it goes in!

Same here. If I know the restaurant in advance, I'll check the menu online to see what's on offer and look at the cost at the same time. Even if they have enough things that I like, I'll try to find somewhere else to go if the first choice would cost more than I'd feel comfortable paying.
