I'm constantly knackered and promise myself to go to bed early and wake up at a decent time so that I can fit in breakfast for myself and not rush around but never actually manage. By the time I lie down after dinner/chores it's 9pm and I feel like I "need to enjoy my adult time" and either binge watch or read/text/faff about. I'm not particularly happy with my routine. What's yours? DH says it's normal not to go to bed before 11pm but I think we are the exception rather than the rule...

Up at 9-9:30pm, light off about 20 minutes after that. Awake 5-6am.
I was always a lark but peri-menopause has made my sleep tricky and I can’t take HRT, so I’m strict about my bedtime.

Whoopsies · 03/05/2022 06:58

I go to bed about 9 every night. I then either read or chat to DH (or we do other things!) And asleep by 10, kids wake up at 6. I am a firm believer in the importance of sleep. 8 hours every single night. It makes every bit of my life better. But really, I couldn't care what time others go to bed or what people think! I would go to bed at 8pm if I wanted to.

Whitewolf2 · 03/05/2022 06:59

Usually up to bed around 10pm, our young children get up at 7am latest and sometimes wake in the night, so since a lie in is a distant memory we try not to stay up later for the time being.

Rosebel · 03/05/2022 06:59

9:30 but I have to get up at 2 in the morning for work. Ideally I'd like to be in bed earlier but by the time the kids are in bed and everything is done it's 9.i want ar least 30 minutes of relax time before bed.

HairInMyEye · 03/05/2022 07:02

I'm in bed by 9pm and up at 5/6am

diamondpony80 · 03/05/2022 07:05

I go to bed around 9.30, but I get up between 5-6am to get some time to myself and some work done before the kids get up (self employed).

When I was just getting up on time to get the kids ready for school I used to go to bed around 11. Or later if I ended up watching something on Netflix.

pilates · 03/05/2022 07:06

Start getting ready for bed about 9ish with a view to going to sleep between 10/10.30.

orangeisthenewpuce · 03/05/2022 07:09

I go at 9 and watch TV which is what I'd be doing anyway if I stayed up. It takes me ages to fall asleep so I have a gentle wind down doing this. TV normally goes off at 10-10.30.

LadybirdDaphne · 03/05/2022 07:46

Get into bed about 11 and read my kindle until I start falling asleep about half an hour later. I'm naturally a night owl so I get clothes chosen for morning, lunches made, hair washed etc in the evening as I can only function in a routine zombified way in the early morning.

Alarm goes off at 6.30 on work days, at weekends tend to sleep until about 7.30 when DD wakes up. As long as I get a solid block of six hours' sleep I'll function ok (seven hours is even better!)

JuneOsborne · 03/05/2022 07:54

If I'm in work, I leave at 6:45, up at 5:45, so to bed by 9, asleep by 10/10:30. Reading or watching in the meantime.

Weekends, usually midnight ISH, but no alarm. Can wake up anywhere between 6-8.

Nidan2Sandan · 03/05/2022 08:05

I will go up between 9PM and 10pm, as I like to go up with DH and he goes early as he starts work at crazy o'clock when he's on the early shift.

I'll usually read for a bit and will fall asleep on a good night anywhere from 10pm to 11.30pm. Some nights is closer to midnight or 1am.

My issue is constantly waking during the night and then waking early morning. I hate it as I start my day feeling exhausted but have very busy active days.

I feel best on 9 hours of sleep, but usually get around 6.5hrs of disturbed sleep.

LadyWhistledownsPen · 03/05/2022 18:53

I go up about 10pm and read for a bit. Asleep by 11pm at the latest. DS is usually up at 6:30-7:00 and I need at least 7 hours or I'm a grumpy cow

Thinkbiglittleone · 03/05/2022 18:57

I sit down around 18.30, DH joins me about 19.30 after doing bedtime and a bit of faffing.
We are in bed for 10pm, asleep for about 10.30 most nights.

Awake at 6am.

AmberHeardsTurd · 03/05/2022 19:02

I would love to stay up later and enjoy some quiet time after the kids are in bed, but it never happens. I start work at 5am 3-4 times a week so am usually in bed by 8ish. Even when i can lie in until 7 I find myself waking early :-(

Yerroblemom1923 · 03/05/2022 19:18

Mine are in their teens now so I feel I have absolutely zero time to myself whatsoever as they're up till 10pm mooching about. I've given up on TV (can't watch any post 9pm dramas in case of rudeness/violence etc so they just fill up my record box) I just go to bed at same time as them and play Wordle/Redactle in my bedroom.
I miss those 7pm bedtimes when they were little and me and dh still had a few hours of quality time to chill and watch telly....ah well, university beckons!

Crikeyalmighty · 03/05/2022 19:19

About 11.30 and maybe 12.30 at weekends but don't get up till around 8.45 as work for ourselves

BestDove · 03/05/2022 19:19

I like to be asleep before 10pm. I love my bed 😂

DogsAndGin · 03/05/2022 19:23

Up at 7:30am
We go up at 9pm and are asleep by 10:30pm

Titsywoo · 03/05/2022 19:33

Into bed at around 11pm and I like to watch Tiktok for an hour before sleep (DH crashes straight out). Up at 7.45am so I still get just under 8 hours. We tend to stick to our routine so do the same at weekends although might sleep a bit longer (till 9ish).

TheCanyon · 03/05/2022 19:36

Sun-Thurs bed at 10pm, up about 6. Usually read for anywhere between 1-3 hours. Fri/Sat depends, if me and dp are having some wine then might be 11/12

FireWithoutSmoke · 03/05/2022 19:37

Bed at 10 at the latest, if I’m tired I go earlier, up at 5:45 generally, if I don’t have to get up I might stay up and watch the news at 10. Just me and 16 yo here, she’s an owl, I am not, so I leave her to it!

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 03/05/2022 19:38

I tend to go up to bed around 9.30-10pm, and I'm asleep most nights by 11.30pm - I'm normally up by 7.30am on work days, but on weekends I'll easily stay in bed dozing/reading/drinking coffee until gone 10am lol.

I like my sleep and feel so much happier when I get the right amount - my MH suffers when I'm tired so I definitely make it a priority.

I only work part-time though and don't have DC so have plenty of down time.

muddyford · 03/05/2022 19:40

We go up about 9.45, lights off by 10.15. Up at 6.15. I have never been able to stay up much past 10.00.

MintyGreenDream · 03/05/2022 19:40

WhatIsThisPlease · 03/05/2022 19:59

I'm going to bed earlier and earlier just to get warm!!!

I've always gone early but now I go around 8.30, in bed and on phone by 9. Read book for a bit then asleep by 10. Usually wake up around 5.30/6.00 but I do prefer early mornings to late nights.
