Yet another thread where the OP has a niche role, and obviously doesnt want to say what it is with all the other stuff they have posted (understood!)

So how about you name change, tell us all about it - and lets see if you are recognised!

OP posts:

That said I also don't mention my hobby here because it's very unusual for a female, at events it's perhaps 2-3% female, maybe less, but of variation so again combine with my slightly unusual job and a dd with sn and well a good friend would work out it's me but I don't actually mind

I'm a specialist criminal intelligence analyst for prisons. Not that many of us in the UK (up to 100 or so). So rather niche!

I know it's a complex topic and various factors, but in General is crime but into people's psychology ? In the sense of theirs a system of rules to govern society yet their is always some humans that won't or don't want to follow rules, almost like it's hard coded into our genetics ?

dizzydizzydizzy · 02/05/2022 15:15

@Eightypercent are you John Lloyd?

weegiemum · 02/05/2022 15:49

I have a surname shared by only 6 other people in the uk. Definitely not telling!

MyJobisNotOuting · 02/05/2022 15:56

I used to have a very outing job-only person in the Uk to do it
There was a debate on MN about a document produced by me/my organisation. I made a comment and was told that I was wronged had no understanding of the subject matter

I had to bite my tongue as to post would have outed me!

Copperpottle · 02/05/2022 16:00

I'm about to take a fairly prominent role in the entertainment industry and I'm actually not sure how to go about, like... announcing it? If I put anything on social media I'd worry about enthusiastic fans coming for me - hacking the account? Doxxing? The fanbase can be intense. Some of my friends are fans of the IP and... I dunno. I'm a bit nervous about telling them. That'll be outwardly supportive but someone's gonna think 'why'd they hire that idiot.'

Anyway. I'll know soon enough how weird it can be to have an 'outing' role.

I do think it's a bit silly when Second Assistant Office Supervisor Deirdre thinks her job is so unique that no one could ever replicate it elsewhere, but then she's probably told that to stop her seeking a better paid role. How many times has 'what I do is just so specialised, I can't leave' cropped up here?

CoffeeAndDryShampoo · 02/05/2022 16:02

@Thehop is there a specific place you checked out her name? Both of mine have quite unusual names and I'd love to check how many others there are out there!

NormalForNuneaton · 02/05/2022 16:28

I've just googled my job title and only got one page of results.

This included a mention of my predecessor and then a few links to the same role in a couple of Oxford and Cambridge University colleges.

It's not a "made-up" job title where they've thrown together lots of random words either, it's just quite niche it seems.

FridayBluezzzz · 02/05/2022 16:33

DH has a few unique hobbies. I can’t imagine there’s anyone else doing the 2 main ones. His job is very rare now. He used to sit on a nationwide committee of people doing the role but there’s only a handful now so they don’t even meet anymore.

Escarpahell · 02/05/2022 16:35

I'm the only person in the world with my name. The only other one died in the c1900.

Weightlossanne · 02/05/2022 16:41

OutyOutyNicheSchmiche · 02/05/2022 14:16

I love how everyone on here is either famous, has a niche job role that pays megabucks or a journalist.

Massively outing but I'm all three of those!

Are you Boris Johnson?

MyJobisNotOuting · 02/05/2022 16:54

I am only 1 of 2 people with my name
surname is unusual, 1st name is dated

in real life I have never met anyone with my surname to whom I am not related

You were the Athena tennis girl?

Jet from Gladiators?

Diverseopinions · 02/05/2022 17:08

This is getting quite interesting.

Are you Sarah Vine, NicheSchmiche?

Itwillkiiilllll · 02/05/2022 17:11

Eightypercent · 02/05/2022 14:20

I'm a bloke...

Darn it. That’ll teach me to read the rest of the thread. Who was the older guy with long brown hair on Gladiators?

brokengoalposts · 02/05/2022 17:15

I have my own Wikipedia page. Success not infamy, lol

yourestandingonmyneck · 02/05/2022 17:55

@Eightypercent are you the guy who got his ear bitten off by Mike Tyson?

yourestandingonmyneck · 02/05/2022 17:57

...ok, that was Evander Holyfield who's quite famous, it turns out. So maybe not 😂

Chaoslatte · 02/05/2022 18:03

My name and surname combo is apparently so non-niche that there are 8 of us registered at the same gym chain as I found out today! My name is unusual on someone my age though.

intwrferingma · 02/05/2022 18:05

Eightypercent · 02/05/2022 11:17

I'll bite. I'm world famous for something that happened to me over 25 years ago, to the extent that my now boss had a poster of me on his bedroom wall as a student.

And that is as much as you're getting.

Super intrigued!

Maydaysoonenough · 02/05/2022 18:09

My hobby is collecting exh's.
I have 3..

My child is the same. As far as I can work out via Google they are the only one. No way I’m saying their name on here even with a name change. I’m not famous but lots of people use Mumsnet, so if anyone I knew saw this it would be announcing that I’m a user. I do reference Mumsnet in conversation occasionally, so it’s not a state secret, but it’s kind of asking people to look for you…

SleepCheeseBeer · 02/05/2022 18:23

My DD's names are Royal, one current Queen and one current princess.
So very common.

I don't have any hobbies other than the gym and social drinking.
Very common.

My job is in Learning and development so not niche but then if I said the sector it would narrow it down dramatically, if anyone did know me they might possibly piece it all together.

I'm pretty boring really!
