MIL names her cat after our son

Am I being unreasonable thinking it's very odd that my MIL named her kitten the same name as our son, her grandson?

@justlliloleme someone made that joke days ago.

I named my son the same as my mums cat…..😂😂

There are a lot of assumptions that the cat was named after the grandson, but thats not necessarily the case, her life presumably doesnt revolve around the grandson and perhaps its just a name she likes or has always liked.

It would be! Sadly all my cats were called Tabby or Fluffy or Kitten etc so DS would really hate me if I'd gone down that route.....

I think in every interaction relating to The Name I'd keep double checking on who MiL was referring to even when its obvious: "do you mean Cat Nigel's litter tray needs emptying?" Just for badness 😆

I think it's lovely and done with great affection for her grandson, who will grow to love visiting 'granny with the cat with the same name as me'. It's fun. I knew a bloke who kept a few pet cattle, calves were named after his grandchildren, they thought of them as 'their' cow.
