Part 2 -AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Just thought I would start a follow on thread for anyone interested in the trial. I have kept it in AIBU so that it is easier for previous posters from Part 1 to find.
We are halfway through and have heard JD's testimony so next week we will hear from AH.

I was just thinking exactly the same, all JD's team need to do is to flip it right around and ask if the same applies to a man.

I agree with both of you. She just said that women can react to being abused and effectively stand up for themselves. That applies both ways though and the narrative that JD has told supports that. I may change my mind when hearing AH testimony though. I have seen her London deposition though and she came off very aggressive.

Definitely. I feel like they are pushing the narrative that women can't be violent in the same way men can which I disagree with.

I feel like this is going to backfire. I know this sounds awful of me but it feels like an overegging. Although j probably shouldn’t be laughing.

This may work to sway the jury but this is exactly what those outside will argue that men are now the victims who have no voice. This is also adding to making it harder for domestic victims to be believed. I dread to think what is being said on social media at the moment.

Has she acknowledged abused men yet? (I went and made a cuppa as she is making me cross).

I felt the bias the moment she mentioned that she only worked with women and the only men she worked with were those who were court ordered for dv programmes. Then she mentioned she was some advocate for women in some other area (can't remember what she said). Every explanation about how a victim acts, she uses the term "she". Really don't like it.

Exactly, this is so frustrating.

She has. I think she talked about how you would assess that in terms of the power differential where there seems to be violence in both directions but not in detail yet.

The cross for this could go two ways, straight out brutal addressing sexism and bias or soft approach in getting her to admit that Johnny matches her profile.

I hope JDs lawyers pick up on the biased vocabulary. I'm a bit behind as my DH paused it so I'm still on watching direct examination.

I think his stupid smirking and almost eye rolling is for the tv and jury. It’s just coming over to me as rude and disrespectful of the witnesses and court tbh.

I agree, I think they need to keep their composure and respect the witness.

I don’t think it always works - it seems like trying to influence the judge in a way, like ‘doh, this guy!’ But it just makes me think he is rude and possible abusive when not on camera.
but I don’t think this witness is doing well for them at all.
i also think A may lose. I’m thinking exaggerating whereas I always felt more in line with A before this.

She’s brought notes and her final statement (I think) in and appears not to have told anyone incl A team. J team keep objecting. Witness appears defiant and pissy.

Goodness. My husband keeps pausing it, not happy haha. Is she still on the stand? I've got to the part where she starts reading a list of documents off her post it note and the lawyers had a side bar.
