Part 2 -AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Just thought I would start a follow on thread for anyone interested in the trial. I have kept it in AIBU so that it is easier for previous posters from Part 1 to find.
We are halfway through and have heard JD's testimony so next week we will hear from AH.

She has a ‘complex’ personality. The mimicking is certainly interesting (well I find it interesting) and can be seen not just in what she wears but in turning other peoples personal experiences into her own and then believes these to be her own lived experiences. It makes it very difficult under normal circumstances to see where the actual truth lies. There seems to be an element of this in some (not all) of her accusations, she says JD did/said x, y and z but then we see/hear evidence that shows that x, y and z is exactly what she did/said to him.

This is what my husbands abusive ex does. Everything she does and is guilty of, she says my husband is guilty of. It's so bizarre. It's like she has some kind of hate for herself to the point where she can't accept what she has done and in her mind has to recreate it so that it is actually someone else who has done it. Maybe it a form of disassociation and distancing from the abuse so they convince themselves they didn't do it. Only positive side is that anything she accuses DH of, we know she must be guilty of it. I see the same traits in AH.

Another of AH's assistants - Savannah McMillan - testified that AH had forged her signature on a document (it was mis-spelt) as she was being illegally employed. Same assistant and one other (I think) testified that AH took the dogs to Australia knowing that they didn't have the right paperwork, because it couldn't be completed in the time available. The assistants had been the ones trying to sort the paperwork.

Ah ok, I missed that detail. I also thought they had travelled together in the plane. Need to check that.

StormzyinaTCup · 03/05/2022 16:57

Are they trying to ‘toss’ the case does anyone know?

Mrsh1983 - how do you know exactly what your dh's ex did, as you weren't there?

Midlifemusings · 03/05/2022 17:16

@StormzyinaTCup

Not to dismiss but to give Amber the 'win'. Her lawyers filed a motion to end the case and award summary judgment to AH. Now JD's lawyers are opposing that motion. The judge will soon rule.

Midlifemusings · 03/05/2022 17:17

I don't agree with "Believe all women". I believe in support all individuals who report victimization and validate their experience unless / until proven otherwise.

Thanks @Midlifemusings
Ive not long switched it on and wondered what was going on. I did hear a rumour yesterday evening that they may try something today after they were finished with JD witnesses.

I’m confused that sounds like she thinks JD’s evidence is good?

Midlifemusings · 03/05/2022 17:33

@StormzyinaTCup

Not unusual to try and get a win without presenting evidence! Judge just ruled against the motion so the trial will continue and the defense will need to present their case. Jury did not hear those motions, they were only before the judge.

ENoeuf · 03/05/2022 17:33

So AH wants to end the case and get awarded without actually winning? And the lawyers for J say no, and the judge says j evidence is so far looking good for him?

Midlifemusings · 03/05/2022 17:34

@ENoeuf

She isn't really making a statement on the quality of the evidence - just that from a legal standpoint it meets the bar for the trial to continue. That JD's team met the legal requirement for a defamation case to continue.

StormzyinaTCup · 03/05/2022 17:35

The judge has said to continue the case!

Her team didn’t want her to take the stand (which would explain the savage questioning in cross examination yesterday). TBH I think that was their plan all along.

Midlifemusings · 03/05/2022 17:36

@ENoeuf

It is a normal legal action - you try and end the case without your client needing to give evidence. You try to argue the plaintiff didn't meet the legal standard necessary to continue. It was never going to happen but her lawyers needed to try.

JenniferAlisonPhilipaSue · 03/05/2022 17:52

I've not been fully following the case.

Is it the judge who decides the outcome or a jury?

Can JD appeal his UK outcome? I read he couldn't, but if he wins the US one, could he try again in the UK?

ENoeuf · 03/05/2022 18:07

@Midlifemusings thank you - just came in on the end of it. Seems like a nightmare for Heard then. Not sure I’d want to defend why I wrote the article really.

She admitted it in court documents and to social services

Momicrone · 03/05/2022 18:41

Oh I see, but doesn't mean she's lying about her ex though, unless she said she'd lied of course

ENoeuf · 03/05/2022 18:47

Just watched him arriving it’s a bit tragic with the crowd of screeching people outside. It’s a court case not a concert. Now screeching at AH. Shame they can’t remove them all.

MrsH1983 · 03/05/2022 19:13

I find it interesting how AHs psychologist specialises in helping female victims mostly and something else she was involved in was based on helping women only as well.

ENoeuf · 03/05/2022 19:16

I’ve been distracted by A’s cheekbones. <shallow>
I think this will be won by the person with the most credible experts / the ones the jury favours

ENoeuf · 03/05/2022 19:38

I don’t think this is a good idea - ages focussing on women being abused by men only . J team can easily flip this to say it applies to him.

I agree. I think it would have been a stronger testimony if it was generic. She is focusing too much on the woman being the victim and the way she is talking makes it sound like men can't be victims.

Yes that’s what I think. They will be able to ask if that can apply to men and how would an outsider know who was the victim.
