Part 2 -AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Just thought I would start a follow on thread for anyone interested in the trial. I have kept it in AIBU so that it is easier for previous posters from Part 1 to find.
We are halfway through and have heard JD's testimony so next week we will hear from AH.

Half of this stuff she’s never mentioned before in any other testimonies she’s given, in the UK, 2016. It’s like every time she tells it she adds a bit more.

QuotetheLaw · 05/05/2022 20:30

Her feet were all sliced up from glass but she didn't need any treatment?

Now she's just stretching it too far. His lawyers should be able to ask her why medical attention was never sought for any of her injuries. She must be the quickest healing person around!

Midlifemusings · 05/05/2022 20:32

Not only would it show under studio lighting but she was frequently on shoots where her make-up was being done by make-up artists.

It just doesn't make sense that someone who was slammed around a room and repeatedly beat across the face and violently attacked over and over for a period of 5 years never had any noticeable injuries or physical marks. Especially by someone in a drunken / drugged rage who isn't being calculated or controlled given much of the time she says he was on the verge of passing out.

Completely agree. Ramming a head into a wall repeatedly could result in a fractured skull or even death. It's not an injury you're over with the next day.

Rinoachicken · 05/05/2022 20:50

This is them coming back from Australia - you can see his hand is wrapped where his finger is injured. She has just testified that during that trip she was repeatedly punched in the face, had her head slammed against a wall, was sexually assaulted using a bottle causing her serious injuries and bleeding…yet not a mark on her?

And she can produce photographic evidence of his destruction of property - the closet, the kitchen, the paintings. Which aligns with his testimony that he did trash a lot of things - but he wasn't violent with her.

She also has given two different events as the first time he was physically violent with her. While I can understand knowing some details and not others, I don't think anyone forgets what event was the first time someone assaults them given the detail with which she has described those two events.

ENoeuf · 05/05/2022 20:58

Gosh looks like I have a lot to catch up on. Sounds like maybe I need to revise my leaning to her telling the truth from the last few posts.

These are pictures of Amber and Johnny in 2014 the night after she said he broke her nose and gave her black eyes. They attended a Don Rickles event.

Make-up may be good at covering bruises but the swelling that would be there 24 hours after breaking your nose would be extremely hard to cover with make-up

Agreed - and a black eye tends to be a swollen mess, looking through a slit the following day too - you can cover the bruising very well with make up but not the fact your eye is a swollen egg...

Rinoachicken · 05/05/2022 21:04

This is why I’m watching the trial live - I don’t want to rely on the media to tell me what anyone said based on whatever that outlet has cherrypicked. I want to see and hear the evidence myself. It’s the first time I have heard either of them speaking about it. And having listened to Amber for two days now, I have to say I don’t know that I can believe a single word coming out of her mouth. I was ready to, before she spoke. I was expecting her to be more believable, more credible. But she’s just not. So unless she present some actually evidence of all these many many injuries she’s speaking about, I’m sorry but I just cannot believe her.

Boulshired · 05/05/2022 21:09

I don’t think I can watch anymore, I feel very uncomfortable with how this is now a rape case in a civil court. If amber wins the defamation which is a strong possibility it will be open season on calling him a rapist

I haven't/don't have time to watch all the testimony so what did the psychologist specifically say?

Very damning to JD but his lawyers hardly protested or cross examined her.
Basically rubbished JDs psychologist- which wouldn't help hard. I was not convinced by her.
Said all AH claims are true- documented over the few years she saw her with notes.
That the tests she did showed she was abused, had PTS. That this is backed up by texts and photos sent to family and friends.
Conveniently that it's common for victims to block out elements of traumatic situations and forget parts.
That they don't behave a certain way- they can seem normal and laughing the next day.
She had a high level of coping strategies that is how she masked the abuse.
She doesn't have a personality disorder.

BonnesVacances · 05/05/2022 21:23

I genuinely think she believes it herself which is why she 'passed' all Dr Hughes' psychological tests. But for someone who has PTSD she's not being triggered by JD during her testimony and is constantly seeking eye contact with him.

It'll be interesting how she fares under cross examination. The lawyers will have enough time to prepare for it if there's no trial next week.

Rinoachicken · 05/05/2022 21:39

I don’t really take much notice of any ‘results’ Dr Hughes interpreted since she conceded during cross examination that true tests she gave Amber were designed to be used ‘up to’ 6months after trauma, but she ‘tweaked them’ because it was actually 6YEARS later, and also she conceded that Amber didn’t complete all of the questions anyway!

Rinoachicken · 05/05/2022 21:40

*the tests not true tests

StormzyinaTCup · 05/05/2022 21:41

I would say Dr Curry gave a more accurate diagnosis than Dr Hughes.
I really think she believes everything she is saying is the truth and she won't like that being called into question by way of cross examination on questions (and as yet unseen evidence) that she can't prepare for. How that will manifest itself I have no idea but it will be interesting.

I think Dr Curry was spot on. The range of emotions she moves through in such a short space of time is extreme.

Rinoachicken · 05/05/2022 21:57

She’s now talking about Dec 15th 2015, when she alleges that Depp head butted her, breaking her nose, giving her black eyes and she also hit her head against a brick wall.

the filling day she appeared on James Cordens late late show looking like this…

This was taken after she had returned to LA and then gone back to Australia and eventually came back with Johnny. I don't know the dates but it was some time afterwards, anyway.

QuotetheLaw · 05/05/2022 22:04

Those bruises look like Botox bruising

malificent7 · 05/05/2022 22:08

They are both awful, toxic attention seekers.

Of she heals like that, she should take up professional boxing. Round one she could get bust up and by round 3 she'd be back to full health!

Aspiringmatriarch · 05/05/2022 22:11

I really don't know what to think about the injuries. It does seem like she's exaggerating because there are things that would show on photos if they happened when she testifies they did. However, we're not finished with the evidence so I'm open to whatever comes out.

Midlifemusings · 05/05/2022 22:21

Her pictures from multiple days of progressions of the injuries are all in the same white t-shirt. Not necessarily anything but unusual.

The lack of medical help doesn't make sense. She told the nurse what happened and all she did was a concussion check via phone? What did the nurse testify about this occasion?

StormzyinaTCup · 05/05/2022 22:25

I think a boo-boo may have been made on the 'broken bed' photo, if you look closely enough there is what looks like a pen knife on the duvet🧐
