Part 2 -AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Just thought I would start a follow on thread for anyone interested in the trial. I have kept it in AIBU so that it is easier for previous posters from Part 1 to find.
We are halfway through and have heard JD's testimony so next week we will hear from AH.

The size imbalance can be used against the man, my mother would attack my father in the safe knowledge he would never hit her back till the point my father would punch the wall or door. Then tell anyone who would listen how abused by him she was. Even us (her children) who had the joy of watching it every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday like clockwork. Amber herself uses the size argument, in that she not capable of knocking him out.

In many of the recordings people are saying as evidence because of statements he used after the fact, he isn't specific in what he is atoning or apologizing or opining about. He talks in a manner that lends itself to being vague in nature.

He used the word monster in texts to Elton John before Amber was even in the picture to refer to the hold alcohol had on him. He calls her cunt jokingly in text exchanges where they are joking with each other and he uses very poetic phrases like bloodbath without specific meaning. My personal patience with his way of speaking would last about 3 minutes but she went on and on about their shared love or prose and poetry and literary genres and that seemed to attract her.

Yes, she has testified that she was beaten on an almost daily basis, usually in the face, while he was wearing rings, splitting her lips, breaking noses and ribs, she testifies he would punch her in the face repeatedly - and yet - we have seen no evidence of this at all - no medical evidence, no witnesses who saw it happen (even though she has said there were often other people around when it happened), no-one who can testify to seeing injuries. She was a very photographed woman at that time. Are you honestly telling me that a woman who is severely beaten, and in the face, on an almost continuous basis would NOT have been caught out by paparazzi at least once? Not one bruise ever? Even on dates when she appears in public within 24hrs of alleged beatings??

Yep. I have written that in my post. That is the strange thing. If he did all of this where Is the physical evidence? You would be black and blue by what she is describing. No visits to the doctor, only one call to the police.

Her doctor did say she saw her with a split lip.

Her therapist seems to think her word, her texts to her family and friends and her pictures of bruises are enough. I can't understand why JD lawyers didn't question this evidence more when previously they would object to any tiny thing.

But you do have audio recordings of him saying he did headbutt her and talking about bloodbaths. Her saying her away from me, taking about him hitting her against a wall and one where he says he cut his own finger off. One saying it's not ok for her to scream but it's ok for him to push her.

My opinion keeps changing as the whole thing is bizarre. I think AH will win though. JD didn't come across well to the jury.

The case isn't about if he is a saint or not, or if you'd want (your daughter) to go out with him, or if he is likeable or a misogynistic drug addict.

All he's got to prove is he is not a domestic abuser in as much as he didn't hit her. And that she is. In that she has hit him on multiple occasions, even if he tried to move rooms to avoid her. And that her libellous Op Ed has damaged his ability to earn a living by defaming him, which it did because Disney pulled Pirates immediately after it.

He can be a misogynistic, drug-abusing arsehole and still be entitled to win this libel case.

From what I am seeing and hearing (I'm watching it) there has been a substantial amount of contradiction, both of witness statements and also her U.K. trial testimony, a generous amount of projection, no evidence whatsoever of physical abuse (a couple of texts and 4 pictures of JD asleep in various locations) and a mountain of material for cross examination purposes.

This is bollocks. He has to prove she defamed him AND it damaged his career.
At no point did she say he hit her (until now). She didn't mention his name in the article or even say she'd been abused.

The damage to his career is equally as hard for him to prove - his drinking/drugs use and unpredictability on set was well known. He's got to prove it was the op ed and not his behaviour that lost him work.

And this is why I think he's pursuing this out of vindictiveness, because he doesn't have a clear case on either one of those aspects.

when will the cross examination take place? It would be good to see how she responds to questions she can't prepare for.

After today they have a week off so it won't be until after 16 May now.

will the jury be at home, with access to the media / internet etc?

They aren't allowed to talk to anyone about the case or do any research on it. They can't even watch the news etc about it.

She is saying all these awful things but with zero evidence, no police reports, no photos, no medical assistance having been administered, nothing, nada.
I'm truly sorry for all the people that have found themselves in abusive relationships but this is just too much, to the point it's unbelievable. I am feeling a range of emotions having watched that none of them in her favour.

This is absolutely ridiculous. If this had all happened to her, she would have needed hospital treatment. Yet there are no medical records of such.

Exactly, being thrown across the room, head slammed against walls and fridges, thrown across tables - she’d be in hospital! And there would be very obviously impossible to hide bruises!!

Her own friends and family were living right next door and underneath them, in his properties, and they never heard any of this? Never saw any of this?

Glad to see that other people think she's utterly unbelievable. It's all very melodramatic and over acted.

With zero evidence except for the many, many photos of her looking completely fine the days after all the times she had been savagely beaten.

Make-up may be good at covering bruises but the swelling that would be there 24 hours after breaking your nose would be extremely hard to cover with make-up

The only witness that she ever mentions is Jerry Judge and, rather conveniently, he died a couple of years ago.

I'm good at makeup, I have multiple colour concealers, I know which colours to use to mask what.

My son gave me a black eye and a bruise on my cheek when he launched a very large transformers toy down the stairs at me shouting "catch" as I had a hand full of clean clothes to take upstairs. It was an absolute corker of a bruise.

No amount of colour pallets masked it, I honestly believe if she was as bruised as she is claiming to be by these attacks, it would have shown under studio lighting on talk shows. It would have shown in just general day to day.

I don't deny he probably did hit her either in retaliation or the instigator when sober/intoxicated, but I think there's some exaggeration going on here.

And 10 MDMA pills, really 🤣 he's hardly taking £5 pills at reading festival from a guy in a grey tracksuit nickname "gear Steve" cut with talc to make up the weight.
