Part 2 -AIBU to wonder why so many people assume Johnny Depp is the good guy and Amber Heard is the villain

Just thought I would start a follow on thread for anyone interested in the trial. I have kept it in AIBU so that it is easier for previous posters from Part 1 to find.
We are halfway through and have heard JD's testimony so next week we will hear from AH.

What's standing out to me is that those tears are not real. There's no glazed eyes, no moisture on her face, no quivering chin, no runny nose and no gasps of breath. She's acting.

ENoeuf · 04/05/2022 22:02

I dont know. It feels weird her talking about his kids. But those messages from him ring true.

ENoeuf · 04/05/2022 22:03

Ok im thinking she’s largely telling the truth. But that’s because those messages are really similar to ones I would get.

Momicrone · 04/05/2022 22:10

Mrsh1983 - that's kinda how they accused women in the olden days - she ain't crying right - guilty m'lud, hang her - I thought we'd moved on from that

So she's not upset enough for you? Honestly she's written about it for the previous court case as well as this one and been in therapy for years, and she obviously will have practised this with her lawyers. It's not for you or anyone else to criticize her for being able to keep it together and 'perform'. That is such a shitty attitude.

Lazul1 · 04/05/2022 22:11

Exactly @Momicrone

MrsH1983 · 04/05/2022 22:12

I'm looking at body language and there is no evidence of actual tears and crying. I don't believe her at all and I'm entitled to that viewpoint. There are too many indicators that tell me she is not being truthful.

Boulshired · 04/05/2022 22:12

It’s all a mess of contradictions, taking photos as evidence but not disclosing lots of information to her therapist that she disclosed to the expert witness as she was protecting Johnny. I’m not going near social media as it will be awash with meme of crying with no tears. It is safe to say his career was destroyed and now is hers.

I have experience in recognising this sort of thing and my opinion is that she is not being truthful and that those tears are not real.

Or she's crying too much, its obviously an act. She has a wart on her nose too
Burn the witch!!

Lazul1 · 04/05/2022 22:14

She can’t do anything right. She’s either emotionless, cold, chilling, has a glazed expression, or she’s too emotional, crying too much, crying too little, her makeup is wrong or her chin’s not quivering enough. Sounds familiar.

She was very genuine at the beginning and charming but the change was extremely distinctive.

I didn't realise we had a body language expert on here. Btw even the 'experts' get it wrong, regularly. You can't read someone's mind.

MrsH1983 · 04/05/2022 22:22

@Aspiringmatriarch please direct me to the post where I said I was a body language expert.

Midlifemusings · 04/05/2022 22:25

I don't believe her testimony at all as an accurate or honest recounting of personal experience. That doesn't mean I think Johnny treated her well and I am on the fence about the physical abuse. The evidence hasn't really convinced me so far one way or the other.

Unlike a number of people on this thread, I am not someone who believes that woman = victim and man = perpetrator so I am not listening through that lens.

Boulshired · 04/05/2022 22:28

The problem wasn’t what emotion she showed as everyone is different but how she showed it. There seemed to be an attempt to cry but it didn’t quite happen. Everything but the tears.

To be fair I don’t think this second thread has been like that. I think we’ve all been pretty open to flaws both sides of the sex divide?

mummyrocks1 · 04/05/2022 22:32

Mmm. I keep switching. After her psychologist testified and all the horrible texts etc from JD I was starting to believe her. All his witnesses are people who work for him or are employees of where he lives etc. it's true what she says- these people wouldn't want to loose their jobs. He admits to head butting her in audios and doesn't deny it when she says he pushes her against a wall etc. I don't believe the line, I was saying what she wanted to hear.

But I don't believe her testimony. It's too rehearsed. Too quick, she's not pausing to think or chose her words to recall. There are no tears when she's meant to be crying. JD was much more genuine.

Tbf I'm on antidepressants which make proper crying very difficult.

DressingGownofDoom · 04/05/2022 22:37

I believe her, and I feel really sorry for her. He is confident, I find him smug actually, totally believes he's in the right (even when discussing things like those awful texts or wrecking a house) and has an easy charm that people warm to straight away.

She's somehow become the target of the worlds misogyny...and we know that we live in a very misogynistic world.

Aspiringmatriarch · 04/05/2022 22:38

I'm not an expert. I stated I had experience.

Midlifemusings · 04/05/2022 22:40

Her lies are also partly why I don't believe much of what she says.

She publicy spoke about having donated the $7 million to charity but she didn't.

She sent a letter saying if he gave her 3 penthouses expense free (in the building where he lived), a Range Rover and a few other things then she wouldn't file for a restraning order

She denied being the one vomiting during the UK trial but evidence in this trial has her admitting it was her.

She said in the UK trial that JD made all kinds of false accusations about her sister leaking pictures but in this trial we find it is was true and led to a fall out between Amber and her sister for awhile.

She denied anything untoward with Franco but there is video evidence of him arriving at 11pm and staying the night.

There is a text saying the feces was her and that it was a joke - after denying it was her.

And a lot of things just don't quite add up.

These don't negate the possibility of there still being physical abuse but it means I don't trust anything she says at face value.
