Delivery man has taken photo of me sunbathing

TheGirlWithTheGreyBunny · 30/04/2022 13:16

So it’s a nice day out and I was in my private front garden sunbathing, my parcel arrived and that’s fine I asked the delivery man to just pop it down next to my door, he didn’t he popped it down next to my chair where I was lying down, he’s then taken a photo of me and you can see my full body expect my face so from the neck down in this photo and then the parcel next to my chair. Iv seen this in the email which is my confirmation to say it parcel was delivered and seen the photo in the email. Who else would be able to see this photo?? I’m really not happy he’s done this taking a photo of me sunbathing when he’s only supposed to take a photo of my parcel I left front door open I wasn’t sat far away from my front door is way 6-8ft away, I live in a nice area it’s not like it would get stolen if he left it in my door way. I don’t know I’m just not happy and I think I should call the company and complain, was Hermes btw. Am I being unreasonable being this upset?

Sounds very odd, but given its the photo that you have received on the email (1) doesn't seem to be for his personal collection and (2) you have the evidence and can complain to Hermes.

I think I'd complain about that, but . . . . Hermes. Good luck.

Horcruxe · 30/04/2022 13:58

The problem is.

If he just takes a picture of a parcel in front of a shut/ open front door, there isnt any proof he has actually delivered it. He could still run off with it, the recipient can say it got stolen.

He needs the pic with a person. They cant really win.

Ellie56 · 30/04/2022 13:59

Yeah good luck with complaining to Hermes. You just end up going round and round in circles.

ManateeFair · 30/04/2022 14:00

Things do get stolen from nice areas, you know.

He should have put it by the door where you said, I suppose, but I wouldn’t care about the photo. It wasn’t like he took it covertly or even for his own use. And presumably if you were sunbathing in your front garden you don’t actually mind people seeing you?

Given the insane demands Hermes puts on its couriers, I very much doubt there was anything on his mind other than ‘quick, I’ve got four minutes to make my next delivery’ to be honest. So while I can see your issue, I actually doubt there was anything sinister going on and I wouldn’t bother complaining.

(Also: where are you that’s warm enough to sunbathe today?! Lucky you - enjoy!)

Roundandroundandroundwego · 30/04/2022 14:02

Alot of postmen now when delivering parcels ask you to hold them and take a photo to prove it has been delivered.

Sounds like he did not want to disturb you, your over reacting.

FionnulaTheCooler · 30/04/2022 14:02

I've had delivery people take a picture of me holding the delivered parcel a couple of times. It must be down to fraud and people claiming non delivery of a parcel, or that the parcel was left outside and stolen when it wasn't. It will be a requirement of the delivery company that proof of delivery to an actual person is acquired, they won't care that you live in a nice area, they have to follow the policy.

PeekAtYou · 30/04/2022 14:06

Picture of you as well as your parcel proves that you signed for the delivery. It's not uncommon for people to see that their parcel has been signed for but they have no clue who signed for it.

Things get nicked, damaged or signed by the wrong person in nice areas too. Yabu

Blossomtoes · 30/04/2022 14:08

This. And it’s bloody freezing here today! I’m deeply envious.

ApolloandDaphne · 30/04/2022 14:10

He needs to take a picture with both you and the parcel in it. You don't have any grounds to complain.

TheGirlWithTheGreyBunny · 30/04/2022 14:12

He wasn’t in a rush he tried to talk to me like he always does. My front door was open he couldn’t have put it inside my door like he usually does when I’m stood there. And like I said in my post in my private front garden, so nobody can see me unless they take the time to come into my garden which they have no right too unless I’m expecting a visitor or a parcel, so not any random person can see me sunbathing I didn’t park myself in the middle of the street I was in my own private front garden hidden away from sight.

They need the photo to show a person or a clearly open door so they have proof it was actually delivered. Otherwise you could claim it wasn't there by the door when you got home. They will take hundreds of photos every day and no-one will ever look at it again.

Assuming you were not naked and were actually in a front garden that's visible to other people, is it really such a problem?

whichoneis · 30/04/2022 14:14

This reminds me of that scene from 'The Big Lebowski', did you make him blow on your toenail?

RoaryMouth · 30/04/2022 14:15

Did you not even sit up when he delivered it? Why would you not stand up and collect it from him? Would still need photographic evidence but I can't imagine not getting up unless he'd said don't bother yourself.

RobbieWeirdicht · 30/04/2022 14:19

You could of course have actually got up off your arse and taken the parcel from him rather than staying there issuing commands like lady muck - so rude!

girlmom21 · 30/04/2022 14:20

Why didn't you just sit up and sign for the parcel?

Anyone who works for Hermes can see it but they won't look unless the delivery is disputed so the more you complain the more people will see it.

Manekinek0 · 30/04/2022 14:20

They always get my legs in the photo when they do it on the doorstep. I would expect them to put me in the photo if they dropped it off in my garden and I was there. I don't really see the issue.

Roundandroundandroundwego · 30/04/2022 14:22

OP it appears from your second post your not here to get opinions you are seeking validation he did something wrong. It seems so far others disagree.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 30/04/2022 14:22

Why are people claiming he needs a photo of the OP with the parcel?

You sound like ninnies who've been taken in by some sleazy courier. 'sorry love, I need to take a picture of you topless and holding the parcel. Orders from HQ'.

Myotherusernamewastakenagain · 30/04/2022 14:24

Yabu. Delivery driver was doing his job and you are making an issue out of nothing. Poor fella.

whichoneis · 30/04/2022 14:24

Ninnies?

Oysterbabe · 30/04/2022 14:26

It would be ridiculous to complain. He doesn't give a fuck about the fact you were sunbathing, he's trying to complete his round as fast as possible.

TabithaHazel · 30/04/2022 14:27

Most times I received a parcel lately, they want a person in it - you could have got up from your sun lounger/chair and took the parcel from him. If he put it down next to you, it would be hard to get a photo without you in it.

statetrooperstacey · 30/04/2022 14:29

Door has to be open or you have to have some of ‘the person’ ( but not face) in it. So I wouldn’t bother complaining as it’s their instructions. You will be the only person who can see it though, unless you raise a complaint then customer services will see it!🤣
