Delivery man has taken photo of me sunbathing

So it’s a nice day out and I was in my private front garden sunbathing, my parcel arrived and that’s fine I asked the delivery man to just pop it down next to my door, he didn’t he popped it down next to my chair where I was lying down, he’s then taken a photo of me and you can see my full body expect my face so from the neck down in this photo and then the parcel next to my chair. Iv seen this in the email which is my confirmation to say it parcel was delivered and seen the photo in the email. Who else would be able to see this photo?? I’m really not happy he’s done this taking a photo of me sunbathing when he’s only supposed to take a photo of my parcel I left front door open I wasn’t sat far away from my front door is way 6-8ft away, I live in a nice area it’s not like it would get stolen if he left it in my door way. I don’t know I’m just not happy and I think I should call the company and complain, was Hermes btw. Am I being unreasonable being this upset?

I'm in Buckinghamshire and you definitely need sunscreen today.

HeDidWhattt · 30/04/2022 15:18

Needs part of a human in the photo or an open door way, it’s not personal just the way it is for them to cover themselves as not thief’s

I do to, things have still been taken.

MayorDusty · 30/04/2022 15:20

State of your front step @Oysterbabe 😮

FionnulaTheCooler · 30/04/2022 15:22

@PaperLanterns me too, have you seen the recent film adaptation?

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 30/04/2022 15:22

I was in my own private front garden hidden away from sight.

But you were expecting a parcel to be delivered. And they would have emailed you with an approximate time. Up to you if you want to be out in your 'own private garden' sunbathing during this period.

What did you want him to do? Wait for you to go inside and get dressed? He probably had about another 100 deliveries to make. You're making a drama out of nothing. Get over yourself.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 30/04/2022 15:27

Did he not manage to get your best side OP?

Away and put your Duran Duran on and rehearse for next time.

Lol, weird thread 😂

He wasn’t in a rush he tried to talk to me like he always does. My front door was open he couldn’t have put it inside my door like he usually does when I’m stood there. And like I said in my post in my private front garden, so nobody can see me unless they take the time to come into my garden which they have no right too unless I’m expecting a visitor or a parcel, so not any random person can see me sunbathing I didn’t park myself in the middle of the street I was in my own private front garden hidden away from sight.

But you were expecting a parcel, so that is why he came into your private garden. Not his fault you were sunbathing. If you know you were getting a delivery ( and these days they text) then you could have covered up. I don’t think you are going to be featured as a centrefold in next months Delivery Driver Candid Camera.

Oysterbabe · 30/04/2022 14:46

DPD ploaded this picture. My husband accused me of flirting with the delivery driver 😂

You've got some killer legs there that are doing quite a lot of talking for you, so I see his point. 😎

StoneMap · 30/04/2022 15:36

Some delivery companies take a photo of a parcel and a recipient (not a door) as a proof of delivery.

PaperLanterns · 30/04/2022 15:40

FionnulaTheCooler · 30/04/2022 15:22

@PaperLanterns me too, have you seen the recent film adaptation?

No! I didn’t realise it had been released 😁

Just got it off Prime! Night sorted!

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 30/04/2022 14:22

Why are people claiming he needs a photo of the OP with the parcel?

You sound like ninnies who've been taken in by some sleazy courier. 'sorry love, I need to take a picture of you topless and holding the parcel. Orders from HQ'.

A lot of delivery companies have to take a photo of someone at the address. This is for proof of delivery @MurderAtTheBeautyPageant it's happened all through lockdown when more and more people ordered online.
I've had photos of me taken through my lounge window, just to prove I was at home.

CorsicaDreaming · 30/04/2022 15:43

They are meant to get a pic with a person in it to show it was received by someone and not just left. In case it gets stolen. But also some people pretend it is stolen and then claim a refund.

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 30/04/2022 15:44

@PaperLanterns I'm so confused by the book and film references. I feel like I missed a post Confused

LetitiaLeghorn · 30/04/2022 15:49

Definition of futility: complaining to Hermes. 😂

ilovesooty · 30/04/2022 15:54

Reviewer123456 · 30/04/2022 14:43

Exactly this. You could have got up and received the delivery like most people would do. Presume you are wanting compo, delivery driver sacked….?

You'll have received a text or email saying when it was due to arrive. Plenty of time to get some clothes on.

Knock yourself out complaining if you want the poor sod to lose his job, although I don't see what he's done wrong.

VladmirsPoutine · 30/04/2022 15:58

You should have stood up and collected it from him and let him take picture not necessarily including your face but your legs or arms or whatever. Laying there whilst whimsically waving your arm in the direction of your door helps no-one. He's probably on minimum wage and doesn't give a fuck that you live in a nice area. You could still say you weren't there / didn't sign etc. He needed proof. YABU.

VladmirsPoutine · 30/04/2022 16:00

I didn't even get to the part that you wanted to call the company to complain. Complain that your delivery was actually delivered but he took a picture of you which you weren't expecting. I suppose you want the delivery guy fired and compensation for the mental stress.

This is honestly why I hated working in services like this including retail and food. Because there's always going to be a customer like you out to cause hell just because you can.

Are you naive, that you don't realise people will claim they have not received their parcel?
or that parcels dumped outside people’s homes do not get stolen? ( or drivers claim they have delivered when they have not?)
im very happy with a photo, i was able to claim when my parcel was very clearly delivered to an address that was NOT mine by the very clear pic!

Ithinkitsadoughnut · 30/04/2022 16:22

Somebody thinks they are more interesting than they are! I feel sorry for the drivers. They get so much hassle for so many reasons.

katepilar · 30/04/2022 16:22

I am in total shock that delivery man take photos of people? Or parcels?

It feels like I am reading a sci-fi and it feels very disturbing.

Also I dont understand why the OP didnt get up to receive the parcel?

What I am used to / outside of UK/ is that your ID is checked and parcel handed over. If you are not at home, the parcel is kept in the post office where you can collect it or have it delivered at another time.

gianaInfertilitySucks · 30/04/2022 16:24

I don't think you're being unreasonable at all... Call, or even better email them, so they have it in written and cannot ignore it

What do you expect them to do exactly if its policy and to prevent fake claims and theft. You get captured on camera pretty much every time you walk out of the door, the faux acting offended is laughable.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 30/04/2022 16:37

If I had gams like yours oyster they’d be draped over the hedge to delight passers by.

My legs look like a pair of 40 year old trees.

Our lovely delivery drivers kindly take photos of my slippers.
