Delivery man has taken photo of me sunbathing

TheGirlWithTheGreyBunny · 30/04/2022 13:16

So it’s a nice day out and I was in my private front garden sunbathing, my parcel arrived and that’s fine I asked the delivery man to just pop it down next to my door, he didn’t he popped it down next to my chair where I was lying down, he’s then taken a photo of me and you can see my full body expect my face so from the neck down in this photo and then the parcel next to my chair. Iv seen this in the email which is my confirmation to say it parcel was delivered and seen the photo in the email. Who else would be able to see this photo?? I’m really not happy he’s done this taking a photo of me sunbathing when he’s only supposed to take a photo of my parcel I left front door open I wasn’t sat far away from my front door is way 6-8ft away, I live in a nice area it’s not like it would get stolen if he left it in my door way. I don’t know I’m just not happy and I think I should call the company and complain, was Hermes btw. Am I being unreasonable being this upset?

I am in total shock that delivery man take photos of people? Or parcels?

It feels like I am reading a sci-fi and it feels very disturbing.

Also I dont understand why the OP didnt get up to receive the parcel?

What I am used to / outside of UK/ is that your ID is checked and parcel handed over. If you are not at home, the parcel is kept in the post office where you can collect it or have it delivered at another time.

Before the pandemic, the courier would have a handheld device that you signed to say you received it.

Since the pandemic, you couldn't social distance with the old way so they would put the parcel on your doorstep, ring the bell then step back. They would either take a photo of the parcel on your doorstep and leave or wait until you answer to prove that a person at that address took the parcel.

I know that in some countries, post is delivered to a specific name so if the postbox doesn't match the name on the letter then it's not delivered. In the UK, the responsibility of the person delivering is to the address.

ID is only checked if you buy an item that can only be sold to adults eg alcohol

The pictures are so funny, I haven’t laughed this much in ages! Love!

Hallyup89 · 30/04/2022 17:13

Nobody is looking at a photo of you. You're not that special, I'm sure.

DPD ploaded this picture. My husband accused me of flirting with the delivery driver 😂

😂😂 best one yet

ribbonola · 30/04/2022 18:06

Missing the point but I thought Hermes were called Evri now?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 30/04/2022 18:07

I'm hurt. The Hermes/DPD guy never takes a photo of me when accepting a delivery. He waits for the Bastarding Cat to come over and jump on it (as it inevitably does in case it's the cat food delivery) before taking a picture.

I'm taking that as he thinks my cat is prettier than me.

He's right

The problem is.

If he just takes a picture of a parcel in front of a shut/ open front door, there isnt any proof he has actually delivered it. He could still run off with it, the recipient can say it got stolen.

He needs the pic with a person. They cant really win.

That’s nonsense, delivery companies have given drivers very specific guidance that they should not be photographing people (especially women) because of creeps doing exactly this kind of thing.

Complain OP.

He needs to take a picture with both you and the parcel in it. You don't have any grounds to complain.

Yes this, they have to take a picture with the person receiving the parcel without a face shot, it’s not his fault you were sunbathing in your front garden what was he supposed to do? It’s clearly not for nefarious reasons as the picture was sent to you! Honestly delivery drivers earn peanuts are constantly under pressure the last thing they need is complaints from people like you.

CorsicaDreaming · 30/04/2022 18:13

@Oysterbabe - I'm not surprised your DP thought you were flirting- you're standing like Marilyn Monroe and look in the pic like you haven't got any clothes on 😂

Have you ever considered not wearing socks whilst applying fake tan?

@Oysterbabe I wish I had legs like yours! 💕

I was wearing little pink ankle socks 😂

Onwards22 · 30/04/2022 18:46

I’m shocked you saw him and just carried on sunbathing.
Surely if someone has a package for you you get up to collect it.

The photo is proof that they gave it to you.
Leaving it on the doorstep is not proof as you can still say you didn’t receive it.

SlatsandFlaps · 30/04/2022 22:46

RobbieWeirdicht · 30/04/2022 14:19

You could of course have actually got up off your arse and taken the parcel from him rather than staying there issuing commands like lady muck - so rude!

"Please can you pop it over there? Thanks so much! Have a lovely afternoon"

MN - ISSUING COMMANDS LIKE LADY MUCK

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️🙄

"You sound like ninnies who've been taken in by some sleazy courier. 'sorry love, I need to take a picture of you topless and holding the parcel. Orders from HQ"

Most of the women I know don't have the time or the inclination to lounge around sunbathing in their private front garden as they have a job.

What did Greybunny want from the delivery driver who gets paid peanuts to give her what she has ordered online?

Today is Saturday?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 30/04/2022 16:37

If I had gams like yours oyster they’d be draped over the hedge to delight passers by.

My legs look like a pair of 40 year old trees.

Our lovely delivery drivers kindly take photos of my slippers.

Gams? ConfusedHmm

ladygindiva · 30/04/2022 23:21

I thought hermes were called evri now and have been for some time.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 30/04/2022 23:27

flaps

Gams are Legs. 🦵🏼 🦵🏼

though oyster had hers in a more flattering pose 😉

watchingrnfire · 30/04/2022 23:44

And then there's me who doesn't like it when they've captured my feet in the photos 😂

IsabelHerna · 30/04/2022 23:56

that is completely inappropriate

mycatisannoying · 01/05/2022 03:44

"One is sunbathing. Please leave the parcel by the tradesman's entrance, yah" Grin

DaisyStPatience · 01/05/2022 07:30

Fake. Everyone knows you don't use the front garden for leisure or recreation in "nice" areas.

KangarooKenny · 01/05/2022 07:34

Our delivery driver took a photo of me walking away from him with the parcel. I was fully dressed, but did feel uncomfortable about it, so now I don’t answer the door. I let him leave it outside and get it when I’ve heard him take a photo of it, and he’s walked away.

balalake · 01/05/2022 07:38

I think you should complain, I wonder if your local trading standards should be aware.

Another reason why my view that you should be told who the parcel carrier is before you place an order makes some sense. Hermes/Evri would lose a lot of business as companies would choose other parcel carriers.

UnsuitableHat · 01/05/2022 07:42

With all due apology, I'm a bit amused by this. It sounds like something from a Carry On film.
