to think the ‘Great reset’ is a good thing?

First things first. I’ve always been a huge fan of Klaus Schwab. He’s a pioneer and a thought leader, and sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger channeling David Attenborough. He’s an intellectual colossus.

With that in mind, I had to tune my brain to ‘objective’ mode.

I spent a lot of time alone in the woodland this weekend, both figuratively and literally smelling the bluebells. I’ve reflected, ruminated and re-evaluated the concepts, and decided that yes - indeed:

’You will own nothing and be happy’.

Jeff Bezos is another personal hero. Say what you want about employees urinating in bottles in order to meet targets - the man knows how to get things done. I for one don’t want to own a lawnmower - it takes up space.

If Jeff can drone me a flymo when needed, so that the 1 square metre of lawn I have outside ‘my’ (by which I mean Blackstone’s) bijou capsule studio can be freshly mown, and then whisked off to another persons patch as required, then that’s a world I can get on board with.

I for one cannot wait for my phone to ping with a constant stream of micropayment notifications as I inhale oxygen and emit CO2. I’m already purchasing carbon credits to deal with my personal emissions.

Is anyone else looking forward to it?

I don’t really agree or understand even with a lot of that but yes I’d be happy to own less and think we all should aspire to rent items and hand items down more - thinking things like renting clothes for events, your lawnmower example, for many people cars fall in this category too.

SantiagoSky · 25/04/2022 19:31

Jeff Bezos is the head of consumerism. How does that fit in your picture?

fallfallfall · 25/04/2022 19:32

i watched a couple video's on the topic two years ago at the beginning of lock down. a totally socialist world that starts out by appropriating all assets by repossession (like the russian yachts) or taxed so heavily you sell it to the government? and someone somewhere it totally trusted to make all the right choices for everyone's lives? following what the flavor of the day might be, it was a bit to depressing dire and dystopian for me. made me feel bad for the grand kids.

When they did satirical sketches in Monty Python, they would flash up a card on the screen that said 'SATIRE' in big block letters, in case people missed it. I feel we need something similar here....

ParisHarris · 25/04/2022 19:34

Assume the OP is being satirical.

Im a bit surprised at the responses!!

Haha agreed, it was the 'It’s high time we allowed the engines of profit to control nature' that gave it away for me.
Although the words 'thought leader' should really have been enough.

TheNewUpdateIsShit · 25/04/2022 19:37

Ooh ooh when do we get our personal credit implants that allow us to buy food from Bill Gates’ ‘harvest’ (but only if we’re not fat), buy gas (but only if we’ve not gone over our personal quota). Can’t wait to live like communist China. We will own nothing but we WILL be happy 🤐

Addicted2Kale · 25/04/2022 19:37

I like how the subject has gone over the heads of half the thread. It's happening already. Why do you think fuel, income tax, inflation, utilities, cars, council tax, affordability rate for mortgages et al have shot up at virtually the same time? When has that happened before?

The economically weakest are now getting voted off the island.

BUILD BACK BETTER

coffeeaddict18 · 25/04/2022 19:40

Is it just me or are there lots of very strange threads today?! This is about the third one where I've just thought WTF!

Smelling the bluebells, sampling the magic mushrooms, licking a few toads…

Lollypop701 · 25/04/2022 19:49

I think op has been sniffing poppies not bluebells 😂

the80sweregreat · 25/04/2022 19:50

Obviously been reading the daily Mail.
They like a ' great reset' debate on the comments pages. It's a thing

You almost had me there OP until you got onto Jeff Bezos - I wonder what's happened to the Great Reset plan - they seem to have gone a bit quiet about it recently. The bug burgers don't seem to be taking off either.

Oh I don't know, I got market-researched about these just the other day.

My reaction was much more 'bleurgh' than I would have expected. Will be curious to see if I'm an outlier!

HeDidWhattt · 25/04/2022 19:52

I want what you’re on!!!

What on Earth is the great reset?
This is a very strange thread.

A We Forum endeavour, just search on the web? You'll find lots about it. Also called fourth industrial revolution. Klaus wrote a book with this as the title, which would be the best introduction. You can buy from Amazon.

Toloveandtowork · 25/04/2022 19:55

I think the idea is that we will own nothing and be happy because we will be so brainwashed by media via our smartphones/TV/computers that we will be in the total control of the overlords.
In the spirit of the thread (I think), I can't wait either. In fact I will put my name down to get a microchip in my forehand asap.

reeeeeeee · 25/04/2022 19:56

DigitalGoat · 25/04/2022 19:20

So the WEF reckon we'll own nothing and we'll be happy.

That's because we'll rent everything

So someone must own it. Imagine how fucking ecstatic they're going to be.

But I take your point about the lawnmower OP

Obvious isn't it? They'll own everything and we'll be happy.
Doesn't take much to fool demoralised subordinates.

DoorWasAJar · 25/04/2022 20:00

Yes, I’m ecstatic at the thought of Vanguard and Blackrock owning everything and Bill Gates’s Terminator seeds have destroyed our ecosystem 😃

This is why I’m moving away from most people and to Shetland to hopefully survive this garbage, I grew up under communist dictatorship and this is the same.

Klaus Schwab was praising Xi Jinping and the CCP recently due to their dystopian Social Credit Score system which is already being piloted in the UK (HeadUpSystems got the contract - see their dystopian website for insurers and employers to have constant surveillance, and you must check in every day with the app, do your steps, check in moods and purchase the correct insect based proteins, and you get vouchers 😃

DoorWasAJar · 25/04/2022 20:01

I’m not a conspiracy theorist but I’ve been thinking about how timely it is that as a society we were being told we needed to change our consumption habits and now we’re essentially being compelled to do so. I’m not saying it’s planned but there’s definitely a hint of disaster capitalism going on.
👌🏼 post OP
