To buy this to deter people from turning up unannounced?

Very lighthearted, but how brilliant is this?! Lol - popped up on my FB feed.

They may have exisited for over a century but in the 50s, 60s 70s they were not a common thing in many homes. At my grammar school the only person with a phone at home was the GP's daughter.
Trying to explain all this to the grandchildren, how we still managed a social life, was quite entertaining!

Plenty of people have always hated it when (most) people dropped by unannounced. They wouldn't say anything about it and would pretend to be delighted, because it was the polite thing to do.

This is an anonymous message board, so we can freely admit that we hate it without offending anyone (except random strangers who think there's something wrong with people who'd rather not have their plans up-ended by an unexpected caller).

So I got carried away with life and only came back to this thread today. Loved reading the comments and the signs some of you have are great.
