How often do you have your windows cleaned?

My window cleaner comes roughly once a month (weather dependant) and it’s not that expensive, but with cost of living etc, I feel like it’s something I could do with not paying for every four weeks. If you have a window cleaner, how often do they come? AIBU to think windows don’t need to be cleaned so frequently?

Every other month £8.
The previous guy came every month but he sold his round and this one comes every other month, which works out well.

Just once. He didn't realise ownership had changed before doing a poor job & knocking for money.
They don't need doing, rain washes them clean.

Did the "For Sale" sign not make him suspicious?

OP, I have been living here for two and a half years and have never cleaned the upstairs windows from the outside. I think that I've only done the downstairs ones a couple of times.

I used to never wash my windows or have a window cleaner. One day the lovely delivery man presented me with a 30ft window cleaning brush/pole. I then discovered that I had ordered it pissed on Amazon. To be fair we do now clean our outside windows regularly. I never used to clean the inside either but now clean the inside when the outside gets cleaned.

So the moral of the story is sometimes ordering stuff whilst pissed is beneficial as my windows inside and out are now lovely 😂

Brilliant 😆

We're on the outskirts of a village,so not particularly busy/dirty road. Once a month, I used to do them, now DH stopped working,he does them monthly. Conservatory every couple of months, meant to be pilkington special no clean glass, doesn't work. After rain the windows look disgusting. You can see the people who don't bother here as well. The older folks pay window cleaners,it's the younger folks who don't bother (well, apart from my immediate neighbours who aren't young) They have net curtains,we don't so you can see the dirt. It's a bungalow, our last house, did pay someone, did an awful job,and was expensive. They charged me for cleaning the back, which they never did because we had a side extension.

My window cleaner really pissed me off about 16 years ago and I told him not to come back again. I haven’t had another window cleaner since, nor have I done them myself. They’re fine.

We did get new windows about halfway through that time period though, so let’s say they’ve not been cleaned in 8 years.

TheGoogleMum · 11/02/2023 12:43

I think we do every other month, only costs £10. We never know when to expect him though he just kinda shows up

wonkylegs · 11/02/2023 12:49

Roughly every 8weeks
30+windows and a conservatory £25

HappyMe6 · 09/04/2023 22:12

Once a month big house lots of windows, but seriously thinking after summer to go down to once every couple months.

OceanbreezeSun · 09/04/2023 22:17

Every 8 weeks. Lot of windows, live near the sea, so they get pretty dirty. Costs £15 but he does a brilliant job. He also clears the gutters in winter for a little extra.

Vintagecreamandcottagepie · 09/04/2023 22:20

Every 8 weeks for £20.

Those paying £8 for a house should be ashamed of themselves.

Everyone deserves a decent living.

MyNameOnHisGuitar · 09/04/2023 22:25

Once a month, £35. Our window cleaner will only take customers who will have them once a month, no less.

Thedogscollar · 09/04/2023 22:30

One year on.

Ohhmydays · 10/04/2023 10:07

I think it depends on where you stay. My old flat was on a main road with lots of lorry’s passing, windows needed done weekly especially in the summer as the dust would cling. My new house i think ave done the outside twice in the 3years i have been here. Live in an upstairs so i just turn the windows inside out and do them myself. Inside needs done weekly as i have a 3yr old who is a nosey busy body lol

Qhaecciarr · 10/04/2023 10:23

Once a month, £14...which I didn't think was bad til I saw there are 5 bed houses getting their windows done for that price and I live in a 2 bed semi!
