How often do you have your windows cleaned?

My window cleaner comes roughly once a month (weather dependant) and it’s not that expensive, but with cost of living etc, I feel like it’s something I could do with not paying for every four weeks. If you have a window cleaner, how often do they come? AIBU to think windows don’t need to be cleaned so frequently?

Ours is about every couple of months, but we never know, he just texts the day before. It’s just gone up to £18. We live near the sea and we really suffered with the storms and Sahara sand, so, at the moment, it’s worth it.

KeepYaHeadUp · 22/04/2022 12:12

4 weekly, £15 a time. We have bifolds and some floor to ceiling windows so it makes a real difference when they're cleaned especially with kids playing outside then smearing fingers ans faces all over the bifolds

ohidoliketobe · 22/04/2022 12:13

Every 3 weeks, £10 a go. We're coastal and they get filthy

KeepYaHeadUp · 22/04/2022 12:13

@Noglassjustthebottleandastraw

I used to never wash my windows or have a window cleaner. One day the lovely delivery man presented me with a 30ft window cleaning brush/pole. I then discovered that I had ordered it pissed on Amazon. To be fair we do now clean our outside windows regularly. I never used to clean the inside either but now clean the inside when the outside gets cleaned.

So the moral of the story is sometimes ordering stuff whilst pissed is beneficial as my windows inside and out are now lovely 😂

Every 2 months for us, monthly is more than we would need (city location but not too filthy)

Herejustforthisone · 22/04/2022 12:19

Whenever it rains.

Blossomtoes · 22/04/2022 14:01

Every six weeks. He charges £10 but my bloke gives him £15 because he feels like we’re ripping him off. He also clears the gutters.

Indoctro · 22/04/2022 14:05

£20 once a month

sosickofthisshit · 22/04/2022 14:05

Once a month £13. We get lots of bird crap on our windows, so they definitely need cleaning at least once a month

nothingcomestonothing · 22/04/2022 14:07

Please could posters who have got good window cleaner pole things post a link? My window cleaner came yesterday and charged me £18 for a rubbish job, so I've dispensed with his services and am going to do it myself, would appreciate recommendations.

Myturnatlast · 22/04/2022 14:07

I do them when they need doing, probably every couple of months? If you're saving money why not do them yourself?

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 22/04/2022 14:08

We keep a pretty clean and tidy house, but I must admit it had never occurred to me to get our upstairs windows professionally cleaned. 😳 We do the downstairs ones during our quarterly deep cleans. I’ve never found our windows to be noticeably dirty.

thismeansnothing · 22/04/2022 14:09

Once a fortnight. £17

I'd like it to be weekly cos were on a new build site and they are filthy within a day of them being done 😭

Lizziekisss · 22/04/2022 17:07

One a month, never know when they will turn up. Was £12 has gone up to £15 but includes a conservatory.

PlinkPlankPlunk · 22/04/2022 17:19

How is it so cheap? £5 for window cleaning honestly seems crazy. Is it for example a terrace of houses and they just go along doing the front windows of each so no travel time added to each or oddly shaped windows?

I am actually embarrassed to say what mine costs (get it done every 2 months) It’s a big house, but still… It does make a huge difference to the light in the house and the look of it from the outside. I noticed last time we had those strong winds and storms the windows were filthy. Window cleaner is lovely and obviously puts a lot of care in but there is no way I could afford it once a month!

museumum · 22/04/2022 17:20

Every two months. He comes round monthly but I only agreed to a wash every two months. £16 for a standard 3-bed house.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 22/04/2022 17:21

Never.

Svara · 22/04/2022 17:23

Three monthly, and I might not continue after this time due to cost.

whoturnedthesunoff · 22/04/2022 17:24

Monthly 12 quid

carefullycourageous · 22/04/2022 17:28

In my last house I did not get them cleaned in eight years.

I was thinking of turning over a new leaf in this house, but I expect I won't bother.

I had a dodgy window cleaner once and I think that has put me off for life! Not fair on all the other window cleaners I guess.

GinIronic · 22/04/2022 17:30

Never.

GlisteningGoldGrasses · 22/04/2022 17:35

Never. We rent and it's one of those house maintenance things that's never occurred to me to do. I clean the inside of course but the outsides all seem perfectly clean and clear and we've lived here 10 years now.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 22/04/2022 17:37

Every month for £16. I recently asked if we could do quarterly and we were told no but that we could move to bi-monthly. Which still feels excessive!

AragornsGirl · 22/04/2022 17:40

We get ours done every 2 weeks at £16 a time. However, we live right by the sea so they do need done a lot

Belledan1 · 22/04/2022 17:40

Every 2 months. I have little square windows. Nightmare to clean but hides the smears.
