There are active two threads on this in Feminism but I feel I just have to update here for traffic. Although protests appear to have, for now, stopped the theatre production going ahead, new and highly disturbing material has today appeared on their webpage, clearly aimed at children. It (cheerily and breezily) suggests, among other things, that children search for images of masturbating animals on the internet and then draw what they see. I am not going to Google that term, I really don't want that in my history, but first, can you imagine what children will be exposed to if they search that, and second, this is pure and simple grooming of children into being abused. Masturbating animals? What larks! Lets have an arts and crafts session about it! Next steps: Masturbating with Uncle Jim? Why not? Masturbating Uncle Jim? Of course!

I have now made a complaint to CEOP. Others may wish to as well.

Tbh I find some of these artsy things, a bit like the emperor's s new clothes. And they were not controversial.Just "alternative" A lot of virtue signalling for a frankly unentertaining, truely rubbish performance in the name of art/diversity. Not prejudiced but some are just bad.
The poster alone advertising this, would put me off, doggy style picture of man and woman.
Would they actually be able to cut it as performers if not being so controversial?
Glad performances were banned.
Would have considered seeing group if a more interesting, fun, enjoyable subject ie just not to offend or shock.

Lovelyricepudding · 19/04/2022 21:55

In contrast this is what NSPCC consider age appropriate for young children: m.youtube.com/watch?v=-lL07JOGU5o

doublemonkey · 19/04/2022 21:57

@theDudesmummy

It DOES seem hard to believe, here is a screenshot from their page (via Twitter)
So I've googled this and on the image search there are several pictures of beastiality.

Never mind the NSPCC, maybe we should be complaining to the NSPCA?

mrshoho · 19/04/2022 21:59

@lameasahorse

Fucking hell, what a lot of fuss about nothing.
Thankful that people did stand and make a fuss. We won't just sit back and accept this as in anyway ok. We won't be brainwashed and we will protect our children.
Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/04/2022 22:00

Everyone involved in this show should be investigated and put on a watch list

This reminds me of a PP's comment that they should all have their hards drives examined, and who knows if it might not come to that in time?
But not necessarily over this, because the liberal agenda is such that it just wouldn't be countenanced

It always interests me that, when actual paedophiles are exposed, the cry of "Nobody would have known ..." goes up. But in many cases those involved could have known, if only they hadn't been too timid to question things at the time

littlbrowndog · 19/04/2022 22:01

We will protect our kids. Thanks dude mum for raising this

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/04/2022 22:03

Would they actually be able to cut it as performers if not being so controversial?

Considering it's been said that most of the performers were recruited from Twatter just a few weeks ago, I very much doubt it

We're not exactly talking the RSC here ...

VeneziaGiulia45 · 19/04/2022 22:03

@RottenInDenmark

They don't know what is right and wrong - the boundaries are blurred for lots of people now, all the kink and bdsm crap. There is no idea of 'sexual morality', it just doesn't exist, neither do the general concepts of what is perverse or deviant, this language is just disappearing.

I was part of the sex positivity several years ago, and the reasons I moved in those circles ended up being the reasons I left.

I became part of it because I didn't understand quite how violated I'd been as a child, and I was looking for something to heal me.

What I didn't realise back then was that a) what I was really seeking out was the original wound, ie. the abuse, and b) that when you work on the fringe of what is acceptable, it attracts people who are also wounded. This is all hidden - even from many of the protagonists themselves - by a sense of specialness conferred by being edgy and out of the ordinary.

The problem is that these fringe areas weren't regulated, and managed to find their way into the mainstream because there was no regulatory framework that recognised them. My particular field of work (which was exclusively for adults) was a "legal grey area" inasmuch as no current laws had ever factored it in.

This is how things like this gain traction. They are a novelty; they garner interest; because the pool of participants is small, 'experts' are made relatively quickly. There are no governing bodies outside the industries themselves. They are accountable only to each other.

The plain truth of the matter is that many "healing paradigms" (because that's what they see themselves as) attract wounded healers, who end up perpetuating abusive patterns. There is little to no psychological training in any of these approaches; scant recognition of psychological trauma or how to deal with it; no cognisance of unconscious motives and their power to wreak destruction.

I can see very clearly how this happened, and what we're up against here is not only a kind of mob mentality, but also an inability of that mob to reflect on their own damaged-ness or on the very real risks inherent in damaging others in the name of "sexual liberation". It is a fucking mess.

(Name-changed. I've been here for many years.)

Wonderfully put. Also, I'm so sorry for what you went through.

For anyone reading and thinking 'hysterical nonsense!'- read a bit more carefully. This isn't over protective women whipping themselves up into a froth of pearl clutching.

This is astute, detail oriented recognition of boundary eroding grooming dressed up as liberal emancipation. There's nothing shame defying or emancipating about it, unless you're an adult with an unhealthy interest in children.

If you are thinking of dismissing this thread, think again. Read harder. Don't assume it's madness and we've misunderstood.

Ha! @EmbarrassingHadrosaurus a concise version of what I was trying to say!

Epic link to the Spiegel article, by the way. Envy

Fucking hell, what a lot of fuss about nothing.

Oh dear. Did you have tickets then? If you seriously think this is a fuss about nothing, maybe let us know just why you think lowering children’s boundaries around sexual activity is a good thing?

We’ll wait.

PrelateChuckles · 19/04/2022 22:14

@Dinosauria

Where do I find love has no age ?

I have contacted my MP

Going back to this post earlier, it's on the video on the website, but it does actually say 'love has no age limit' showing an older couple, and after 'love has no race' 'love has no religion'. But it's odd to me to put 'age' in there unless you are trying to break down some preconception or law specifically based on age.
TheMamaYo · 19/04/2022 22:15

@HardRockOwl
Here is the link. The video, at the end, shows an elderly couple, and the words ‘love has no age limit’ or something. I think that is what a previous poster spoke about.

Of course, in a different context, that would have sounded absolutely fine, but to put that on this website feels wrong, like the majority of their content.

thefamilysexshow.com/bodies-touch

In general, a lot of the language used on there feels very familiar. Many of the same words used by my own abuser.
I don’t understand why some posters can’t find the info discussed on here, it is on the website, if you look under The Zine, especially.

Have you seen the Jimmy Savile documentary on Netflix at the moment?

No. Thought not.

theDudesmummy · 19/04/2022 22:20

If this is a "fuss about nothing" then a significant part of my thirty-five year professional career is also "a fuss about nothing". I am not going to be offended on my own behalf, i have no need of sympathy, but certainly am offended by this comment on behalf of all the hundreds and thousands of survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

That article. 😱 🤯

It's up there with the other article about Germany that I've never forgotten because it puts the lie to all the rhetoric about how much more sensible Germany is about sex and the value of particular forms of sexual liberation.

NB: strong stomach needed for this.

Legalized Prostitution In Germany Looks Like A Living Nightmare

When German anti-prostitution advocates talk about the situation of prostitution in Germany, we hear the same responses, over and over: “You’ve got to be kidding!” or “How is this possible?” When we do presentations in other countries, people in the audience will often start to cry or ask for a break after 15 minutes to get some fresh air. The same presentations in Germany cause outrage as well, but we’ve noticed that people have become so accustomed to the situation, their emotional response is subdued.

Pro Familia is an organization that advises schools in their sex education materials. Among the material they recommended for teenagers is a book which loosely translates to “Sexual Pedagogy of Diversity”. This text includes suggestions and material for projects in which students are asked to name sex positions and to “modernize a brothel.” In small groups they are to discuss what “services” these “pleasure houses” should offer. Those who protested this kind of content being introduced into curriculum were accused of being “reactionary,” “conservative,” and “prudish.”

Neverreturntoathread · 19/04/2022 22:21

@picklemewalnuts

I find it extraordinary that this is only being scrutinised and protested by women here. How the hell can something so flagrantly transgressive be being overlooked?

Why on Earth aren't NSPCC, local safeguarding teams, and the education department (given they are citing national curriculum) all over it?

Because they too have been groomed.
theDudesmummy · 19/04/2022 22:23

Love has no age limit. Sexual activity with adults does, in a civilised society. The conflation of love with adult sexual activity is part of the problem and by no means accident al.

The screenshot from the page instructs children to do an internet search for animals masturbating. Th en draw “an animal”
What anyone looking this up is likely to find, does not need much guessing.

Either they are unbelievably stupid even though they are purportedly ‘educators’, or very nasty.

Turns out that it looks like one of the co founders of the Sex ed group behind the show, also works for BBC , hence the pearl -clutching narrative in the article this evening.
