AIBU to ask how often your 9/10 year old DD’s shower?

DSD (9) is staying for the Easter holidays. Since she arrived (8th - 11 days ago) she’s had two showers. DP says I’m a clean freak as I make my two (7 & 10) shower at a minimum every other day.

I feel like I’m losing the plot as he’s so convinced this is normal Confused he also won’t enforce hairbrushing once a day either so DSD is ending up so tangled - I had to sort it for her yesterday. We’ve just had a huge argument as he’s convinced there’s no need for her to shower more often - she’s not washing at all in between either. AIBU?!

A full bath/shower every day or even every other day is a very modern thing

I disagree. I celebrate my 70th birthday next year and have bathed/showered every day my entire life.

Children don’t need to shower/ bath daily as it strips the natural oil from their skin. Also don’t tend to sweat. As they get older, obviously it’s a different matter. Just to mention the matter of how much water being used???

Agreed, hair brushed, teeth brushed and faced washed morning and night. Hands washed after the toilet and when they return from the shops.

Good grief! I always find I'm horrendously slobbish by mumsnet standards- (smoking, drinking, eating old food off the floor, letting my kids walk home alone at the age of 2*) but my kids have always washed everyday - as did my brother and I in the 70's. As did DH and his family. I honestly thought this was normal?
