Teressa May (last government, but same party) with her 'go home immigrants' vans and hostle environment.
Immigration and Borders act.
Transportation to Rwanda.
Bringing laws in trying to limit our right to protest.
Lying to the queen to prorogue parliament.
Lying in the house of commons.
Trying to change the law to get one of your MPs off.
Pretty much ripping up the ministerial code.
Windrush.
Admitting that they're just going to break international law.

I bet they will come after the human rights act and try to get us out of ECHR.

Worse, I think a great many of the public love the fact they've done all the above and would cheer loudly at the ripping up of the human rights act and ECHR membership (wtaf?)

How did we get to this?

@Xenia

I don't support either. Colour is not important to me as long as people of all colours comply with our laws.
@Xenia given that most migrants to comply with "our laws" then I presume you support their right to be here.

Given that our government doesn't comply with "our laws" then I presume you don't support them and wish for them to be deported?

@Tippexy

What is so terribly wrong about not allowing illegal immigrants (hopeful economic migrants) into our country?
The way to stop economic migrants coming here is to improve the economies of the countries they are in, we decided to cut foreign aid.

The uk to work with European agencies to halt the trafficking models of the criminal gangs but we chose to leave the EU and to not be part of Europol.

@PurpleThursdays how predictable insulting those who don't agree with your views.

lollipoprainbow · 19/04/2022 15:06

1m illegals? they won't be claiming any benefits or using services

So you have a crystal ball now ??

So you have a crystal ball now ??

You don’t need a crystal ball to know that current legislation prevents those people from using the NHS or claiming benefits.
lollipoprainbow · 19/04/2022 15:14

@Blossomtoes so what are they living on then?? If they get injured or are taken jll the NHS refuses to treat them does it ??!

You don't need a crystal ball to realize that illegal immigrants are ineligible for benefits or free use of government services (the clue is in the word 'illegal') and that they are unlikely to claim anything that would draw the authorities' attention to them.

They live on charity or money they’ve brought with them or had transferred from their country of origin. And the NHS will, if it’s working the way the legislation is written, present them with a bill for their treatment.

They would usually live on help from friends and relatives here; illegal and usually exploitative jobs; or less salubriously black market activities.

The NHS would probably treat them but try to claim payment; and using health and other services would risk bringing them to the attention of the authorities.

It is scary 🙁 I have applied for a spouse visa for my South American partner and we should be hearing the outcome any day now.. we are both terrified but trying to remain optimistic. It is hard with all the things going on in the news though.

Predictable ill-thought out arguments get predictable replies. I'd really rather not agree with you, it turns my stomach thinking about it.

lollipoprainbow · 19/04/2022 19:10

@PurpleThursdays I feel the same about your views.

PurpleThursdays · 19/04/2022 19:16

Yeah I give a shit about the human race as a whole. Must really gall that there are people out there who do care. Can't imagine being horrible to someone escaping a war torn country. But whatever floats your ugly little boat.

lollipoprainbow · 19/04/2022 19:51

@PurpleThursdays I care. I'm just not a hand wringing virtue signaller like so many posters here.

PurpleThursdays · 19/04/2022 20:06

Yeah, your compassion just shines through your posts.

Virtue signalling, what a disgusting, cringeworthy phrase. It needs to be consigned to the bin. Along with people who can't distinguish between so-called virtue Signalling 🤮🤮🤮 and actually giving a shit.

What about compassion for the people who already live here? People who are on waiting lists of 2 years plus for housing, living in cramped conditions with their families. People who are ill and are waiting for months and years to get a much needed operation. Do you give a toss about those people or do you save your compassion just for immigrants? Why don't you understand that by accepting refugees (most of whom travel through several safe countries to get here) the country is getting more and more overcrowded, and our services can't cope with it, to the detriment of those already here. It's not rocket science fgs.
lollipoprainbow · 19/04/2022 20:15

@Livelovebehappy thank you, compassion/charity begins at home.

woodhill · 19/04/2022 20:17

Plus it never seems to end, however many people we have helped over the past 50 years' with coming to the UK

No I care about them too, it's not mutually exclusive. Such fine critical thinking skills you have.

Services have been underfunded under the tories, and the cuts go deep. Social housing needs to go further. The health service needs proper funding and you wouldn't have long waiting lists for operations.

Have you not noticed we have had 12 years of Tory rule and everything has got worse? Join the dots, it's not immigration that's done that, it's poor management and funding.

Cornettoninja · 19/04/2022 20:28

@Livelovebehappy do you think all of those things you listed would be resolved by stopping immigration? Because really they wouldn’t.

This government and their direction of travel, frightens me.
woodhill · 19/04/2022 20:29

We are never given the chance to see

Perfect28 · 19/04/2022 20:55

Livelovebehappy you seem to be under the impression that people coming here do nothing but take. People contribute to economies through their labour and spending. The facts about this are stark, immigration is good for the economy.
